Fluke T6-1000 PRO Electrical Tester

Best one so far.

As an actual electrician, I think this is brilliant. Now I can check voltages without having to take wire nuts apart. Anytime I can lessen exposure to energized conductors is a win in my book. All the comments about the field sense readings are amusing. Any electrician in the field will be wearing non conductive boots (EH footwear.) Maybe even be on a fiberglass ladder. Which is also non conductive. I will never be a good path to ground (for good reason) and will always be using the black test lead for a ground reference. That will be the best way to get an accurate reading.

It not very precise, doesnt measure voltage very percise

I have an older T6 Fluke, and this new T6-1000 has greatly improved leads. They have more insulation on them and dont feel so soft.

Good meter for professional electrician

I use this electrical tester mostly for home needs, to check and repair electrical devices. It came with detailed step-by-step instructions, accompanied by illustrations, which I found very helpful and followed. It works as expected, and I have had no issues so far. It would have been nice if it came with a storage case. Overall, Im satisfied with the quality and durability of this tester.

Don’t waste the money if you are a romex ranger, or a commercial guy...If you work in an industrial environment, hazardous locations, or a chemical plant, this tester is well worth the money! The field sense is accurate within 5 to 10 volts, the ability to read hertz is very helpful when dealing with VFD’s.. The visual green for continuity on the screen is great if you work in noisy areas. The enlarged amp reading capacity is a huge plus, the lit display helps in dark places. For me the best part of this tester is being able to take a voltage reading without having to open up a splice, and being able to see volts/amps at the same time on the enlarged display is awesome!!!

The FieldSense feature showing both voltage and current is pretty slick. There are two ways of using it, the first being just putting the wire in it, as normal, but there are a couple of caveats with this method, around detecting open neutrals and such. The second is using your body as a ground, holding the grounding plate on the back. Its a little bit finicky, more than it should be, so it sometimes doesnt work, but a cool little concept and idea.
