Overall good reader with some nice features and options. But: Some unknown errors during registration process. VERY SLOW fb2 loading Cant swipe pages, only touch. No Russian keyboardsearch. UI is slower than Kindle. Kobo app is not syncing books with reader, connection to PC required. Bottom line: many small annoying things that does not allow to enjoy the reading experience.

To use this reader you must download adobe digital editions. There are a tonne of people having issues with adobe digital editions. It is really hard to recommend ereaders to people when it is impossible to download books on to them. I have tried all of the tips I have found online and not one has solved my problems. I get alternating messages of the content not being allowed and I have reached my limit of activations. My son spent 2 hours on the phone with kobo this morning and they had no idea how to fix it. Adobe does not have customer support unless you are a paying customer. I will likely be returning my kobo because this seems to be an issue with users for quite a while. Its probably why readers are dying already.

Works well, nice and light to read in bed or at the pool. Adjustable font can be read in any lighting situation.

I found this very difficult as there was no users manual included. On line, yes PDF. Keyboard super sensitive, and no obvious way to delete unwanted characters. Getting the Reader connected brought me to the Kobu site and I could not find a way to get to my Bellingham Library site. I do not want to purchase, just download eBooks from our local library. A very frustrating afternoon of not any success.

Super annoying to deal with, go with a better e reader. Tried to get with the overdrive functionality which didnt even work.

I bought the Kobo Aura One about 1.5 to 2 years ago. In that time, I have only used it in its normal capacity and, just shortly outside of the warranty period, the device no longer works. As far as I know there is no straightforward way to fix or repair a malfunctioning device if the issue is a hardware problem. Things Ive had problems with in that time that make me feel this isnt a worthwhile purchase just yet: 1) the interface with a windows computer - theoretically youre supposed to be able to plug in your device and load books directly onto it from the kobo app or your desktop. I was able to directly load data onto my kobo only once before that function stopped working altogether. Ive tried so many things to fix it - different computers, different cables, resetting my device manager settings, etc and I havent had any luck with it. After googling the issue, I saw that this is a pretty common complaint that there doesnt seem to be much resolution for yet. For this reason, I would not recommend this device until they can make it seamlessly connect to windows interfaces. (If you have this problem, you *can* go around it using a calibre server and manually downloading books one by one to your device... but its so incredibly inefficient that in my opinion its basically not an option.) 2) The interface *within* the device is similarly abysmal. In order to search for books in the library, for example, you have to go into the store section, search for a title, and *then* change your search to show results from your library and not the kobo store. Hardly intuitive. Saving articles to your device using pocket seems convenient until you realize that you cant interact with those articles in any meaningful way - in other words, you cant highlight anything or make notes the way you can with an audiobook, which seems like a major oversight. If you need to sideload books using the internet, you have to go into beta features just to find the web browser. And the web browser is, of course, pretty awful. You have to load many pages in html in order for things to not progress at glacial speeds. Then, we should talk about the fact that when the device powers down into sleep mode, the screen *retains* the title of the last book you were reading. Again, to my knowledge, there is no option to erase the title from your screen. So if youre uncomfortable with people reading the titles of your books (say, if youre reading something sensitive) then you have to purposely load other books before you shut down your device. This seems like just such ridiculously bad UX design that I cant wrap my head around it. Ereaders in general also suffer a lot from the fact that you cant write or draw on the screens and you cant see anything in color or play animations, sounds, and videos - but those are just accepted negatives that most people are aware of before getting into ereaders. Having said that, the lack of those features is still glaringly noticeable and is a big reason why the devices still arent a good replacement for simpler-to-use options like tablets. All in all, as a huge Star Trek fan I am very excited about the future of ereaders - but we still have a long long way to go before theyre worth the money that they cost. I think this device could improve drastically if they put more effort into the design and engineering side of things. Until then, I wouldnt recommend this purchase.

My Kobo Aura has never worked according to its marketing and owner’s manual. The only way to upload books is from their over-priced store; library upload features do not work. Customer support will argue with you about how it’s ok the features don’t work. So now I’m stuck with a device that I have to keep putting more money into. Toxic landfill. My town doesn’t need that.

Very easy to use - managed to load all my epubs onto it within minutes. It is a good, simple ereader.

I just unboxed my kobo aura and upon opening it, the left part of the page is frozen with a picture of the kobo with a plug. I tried to set it up via computer and still that page was frozen. After 2 minutes of setting it up, the lower half part of the page turned into black and was frozen. I tried turning it off and on and it is still the same. I am a fan of Kobo and I was excited to purchase Aura to replace my Kobo Glo. I am so disappointed with the product and this experience.
