> 3 dayThis monitor was the cherry on top of a major system upgrade. I was running a GTX 1080, but on an old 4790k, so I made the jump to the 10700k and paired with this, the 1080 finally gets to fulfill its destiny. The Panel: First off, let me just mention how awesome Adaptive Sync is. You GFX card brand shouldnt have to be a factor in picking your monitor. This is my first sync monitor so I wasnt sure what to expect, but all my games are running buttery smooth regardless of FPS so thats working great. The IPS was also a main attraction, as my last AOC monitor was my first IPS panel and I loved it. The fact they make gaming panels with it now is fantastic. Its also REALLY bright, like burn your retinas bright on white pages on stock settings. Bottom line, the picture quality on this screen and everything Ive loaded on it has looked beautiful so far. As far as response time, honestly I dont pay much attention to that, so if youre looking for how accurate the ms timing advertised is, I cant help you there. The Stand: So, the stand confused the hell out of me, because I was trying to find a height adjust before attaching it to the monitor, but when Id lower it, itd pop right back up. Turns out its balanced perfectly with the monitor weight and that pressure just holds it at the height you want. I like mine at lowest setting and the stand hasnt raised it under pressure yet. It supports tilt and rotate, but not swivel... which I dont need, but find odd. IMO less things to break down. Accessories: The good news is, they include a DisplayPort, HDMI, and USB cable which the software for the monitor used for hardware updates (mine was up to date out of box). The bad news is theyre all short AF. I get that most people dont need longer, but people with a larger desk area or that want to do proper cable managemnet will need to provide their own longer cables. Conclusion: Very happy with this monitor, wish I could afford 2 more for a triple setup. Shipped with no damage or dead pixels, so thats a win.

> 3 dayBelow is my original review and Im leaving it there so people can learn from my mistake. I ordered a second one of these monitors thinking it must have been defective. I was wrong. When I opened this new one, before I pulled everything out of the box and set it up, I just wanted to test it first so I just pulled the monitor out of the box along with the power supply. Same thing happened as the previous model using my Display Port cable, which was brand new when I tried the one I thought was defective the other day. Then I tried the DP cable that was in the box and then the HDMI cable. No difference. Take a look at the pictures to see what Im talking about. The dim one is the LG 27GL850-B and the bright one is the ASUS PB278Q. I figured two monitors being damaged in a row is very unlikely so I thought Id browse through he menus again to see if there was something I missed on the first one. I came across Display Port Version. It was set to 1.4 so I thought let me see if changing that would do anything, just something, anything and I changed it to 1.2 and BAM, nice, bright colors. I changed it to 1.1 but there was no difference between that and 1.2 so I put it back to 1.2 remembering seeing somewhere my MSI GTX-1060 mentioned something about Display Port 1.2. Tech support emailed me back when I sent them my complaint but it didnt mention anything about checking the DP Version. I replied to LGs email telling them of my huge blunder but in my defense, someone should have told me to check this, even if not in the quick start guide or the manual but at least in the tech support email. Anyway, this monitor is just as bright as my ASUS PB278Q, which is five years old and this one isnt even set at its brightest. Im happy and I plan on ordering one more so I have two of the same and Ill keep my ASUS as a backup and maybe for my laptop. OLD REVIEW: The colors are muddy, at best and are far from Color Calibrated and no where near LGs claims of a Wide Color Gamut. The blacks are dark grey at best when I have it set to a bright enough level where I can actually see it. The images this monitor displays doesnt even come close to the ASUS it replaced. I even tried to adjust the colors in the Nvidia control panel with no success. Lastly, this monitor is not bright at all. It has to be the dimmest monitor Ive ever used in my 26 years working with computers. This is not a $300 monitor. I wouldnt pay $100 for it. So, it gets returned.

> 3 dayFirst experience with 1440p and higher than 60hz. Happy with it! Yeah, I know! 4K and 8k gaming are the future! Yes, the future, not now. My 3070 plays very nicely with this monitor so I am good for years of gaming.

> 3 dayI dont think Ive ever 5 stard anything on every aspect before, let me get to the point: if you are using an old TN led monitor, you will be blown away, period. I do not have the hardware to run over 60hz, and only 1 of the 2 panels my gpu can handle 10bit the other runs at 8bit. I didnt notice much at first in game other than larger screen area due to 1080p->1440p, I alt tabbed and put a video full screen and told my friend i might cry its so beautiful and vivid, and that was only a 1080p@30 video upscaled. As I cant speak to the >60hz due to HW limitations its not an entire review, however Im still happy I switched to ips, it even has a better contrast ratio than my old old 1080p leds. Notes: cables are dumb short. If you dont have your pc almost literally next to it, get a 6-10 dp 1.4 vesa certified cable, or hdmi depending on your preference. The power cord is on the short side too i had to squeeze my surge protector behind my desk. Not sure whats up with all these short cables when management is easy even with 2ms. Ill update if i ever get new HW to fully run these at their potential

> 3 dayLove the monitor for the most part, have had is for a little more than 2 years. For FPS games the monitor gives great response. Controls are a bit clunky to me, do not really enjoy the joystick. For me its too bright at the lowest settings, I get migraines and even on the reader setting with brightness level 1 its too bright. My old Dell U2410s can get significantly dimmer than this LG monitor. So if you have migraines you may want to consider the brightness, if you dont then this is an excellent monitor. Would buy again.

> 3 dayive been using a va curved panel for years, and i decided to try this one as my new main monitor. both monitors are of course 27 inch, and the color is very noticeably better on this lg monitor. it CAN do 1ms response, but you will get overshoot in the pixels which will result in white shadows around the moving images on the screen, so i keep it at the 4ms setting which doesnt hinder my gaming at all, even in games like call of duty, its not even noticeable to me. if youve been using a curved panel for years, using this flat monitor will likely look like its bent backwards, idk why but maybe its just cuz my eyes are used to seeing a curved display. i also recommend using a DP 1.2 cable if you want to run hdr or any high refresh rate settings but this is just personal preference mostly. just depends on what you want out of the monitor. this thing is amazing, and it fits well on a vesa mount. i recommend this monitor to anyone in the market for a good quality monitor, especially if they like 27 inch panels

> 3 dayi use my display a lot both professionally and for recreation. the LG 27GL850-B has some real nice options and color reproduction and brightness, but the IPS panel has some minor bleed you cant get away with and uniformity across the panel has an extreme variation of about 9% from the lower left corner to the middle of the right hand side of the screen. during black moments, this is noticeable, especially in a room without lights, but i keep a dim light on and usually have something on display, so it isnt noticed at all. the swivel adjustment is incredibly stiff and not worth hassling over. the stand is slim and out of the way with a cable keeper that is convenient to tie cables too for tidiness. the screen itself has a non-reflection coating and a bezel about 2.5mm thick which isnt terrible. brightness is over 700 nits (!) which is great if you want a bright screen for movies and stuff. the g-sync module in it works great too, and matches up over displayport perfectly (but not HDMI for some reason). the display is HDR10 capable (10 bit color) and has a gamma of around 2.25. paper white is about 320 nits. the USB ports on the back are at right angles to the display and are easy to get to, but a pain if you have short cables - i would much prefer them on the lower edge of the display like what Dell does. the built-in USB ports are USB 3.1 rated, but you only get two of them. overall very happy with the display!

> 3 dayLG has certainly set the bar here with these monitors for both quality and price. I think a lot of people will be debating the LG 27GL83A-B and the LG 27GL850-B; I’ve had both and I immediately knew the decision was to keep the LG 27GL850-B. I was blown away when first viewing images on the 27GL850 when comparing to a TN panel, and this was not something that I felt with the 27GL83A at all. My specific unit has no noticeable IPS glow (orange tint) and has very minimal back light bleed that would only be noticeable in a completely dark room. Compared to its lower priced counterpart, I think the Nano IPS display makes a world of difference for quality and the ability to reduce that IPS glow and back light bleed. Blacks are deeper and more consistent on the 27GL850A and colors really pop on the wide color gamut panel. Pros: + 1440p @ 144 Hz + Good viewing angles + Gsync certified and Adaptive-Sync ready + Supports wide color gamut and provides a very good sRGB emulation profile for those that do not like the saturated look + Nano IPS provides decent black levels for IPS panel standards + No IPS glow visible to eye (specific to my monitor) + Very minimal back light bleed (specific to my monitor) Cons: - Advertised 1ms (you’ll need to select the “fastest” response time setting, but you greatly sacrifice quality for minimal benefit) - Contrast level is lacking due to panel technology - Stand is on the cheaper side - HDR support is a gimmick (can accept HDR signal but this monitor only has a 350 nits level)

> 3 dayWhat I liked: + Great response times: I dont think anyone is going to miss their 144hz TN panel after using this. + Near perfect gamma 2.2 tracking on default gamma 2 mode + Average Delta-E around 1.5: not bad + Amazing color gradient handling when set to 10bit mode + No BLB or dead pixels What I disliked: - Default whitepoint is too cool (measured 7200K) and none of the provided modes gave an actual 6500K. Luckily, with a colorimeter in-hand (Colormunki Display) I was able to calibrate to 6500K with minimal loss of contrast by adjusting the RGB gains. - IPS glow isnt any better than my old IPS monitors. Youd think now that tablet and laptop IPS panels have mostly resolved this issue that monitor panels would do that too. Other notes - Contrast measured at 870:1, a bit low for an IPS panel although I cannot subjectively notice a difference in black levels compared to my other IPS monitor that measured 1150:1. If youre looking for deeper blacks youre better off with a 3000:1 VA. - Gamma mode 2 is the only gamma mode that was calibrated at the factory. Changing the gamma mode to modes 1,3, or 4 resulted in a white point of 6300K, contrast ratio increased to 1060:1, however the gamma tracking is really bad on these modes. - Gamma mode 1 results in an approx gamma of 2.0, mode 3 is approx gamma 2.5, mode 4 is approx gamma 2.3, but again the gamma curves on these modes are messed up and do not conform closely to these numbers so I ended up using gamma mode 2 and just correcting the white point.

> 3 dayThis is the best gaming monitor that Ive ever had so far. I mainly play FPS games like Valorant and CS:GO which requires extreme reaction speed and reflex, which this monitor allows me to have. The high refresh rate allows me to track the enemy much easier and smoother. I highly recommend it for competitive tactical FPS players.
