We just build a new house and all of the rooms are wired for internet. The problem is that the router that we were provided only had so many ports. I bought this to help extend the number of ports that we had available. NETGEAR is my go to for switches like this and this one did not disappoint. I was not looking for anything managed so this hit the mark 100%. Install is a breeze as you just plug it into power, plug in your internet input and then you have 7 other ports to plug into for the rooms in your home. I will be doing a whole home network with some pro grade equipment, but this has been an amazing band-aid until I have the time to get that all laid out and up and running. I will hold on to it just in case there are any other hubs or devices that I might want to run once inside of a room that might need some extra ports. You cannot go wrong with this switch if you are simply looking to make one port into multiple. If you wanted a managed switch this version is not what you are looking for. My network is super basic at the moment so this was what I needed hands down! Love it!

Netgear switches are fast and reliable. What else do you need to know?

I have many switches I use for NVR Video surveillance, and high end hone network testing, local backups and large file transfers. I got this as a backup but wound up using for redundancy to my network! It is managed but I use it out of the box as unmanaged and works great! Im not a huge netgear fan for routers, however their switches are first class for large scale home / small business use.. I needed tech support on a different switch that was out of warrantee but running behind this one which was covered, I was surprised at how really helpful their support was to not just help me with my one issue but providing a very quick solution for me that made sense as they really knew their stuff, just took them understanding exactly what my goal was and im very grateful they really helped me out, but this switch for the money is rock solid and would buy more, and would recommend to a friend, customer, anybody who needs an unmanaged switch or a managed one with limited options but some customization if needed, though always works right out of the box after all kinds of routers, ip addresses subnet changes, it immediately adapts and kicks right into new settings like a breeze!! Great product!

There really isnt much to say. Netgear makes really good equipment. This is nothing short of that. I needed to upgrade from a smaller Netgear switch and knew exactly what I wanted, the best. Plugged in and powered on. Works great

Nice little hub. But should have bought the NetGear GS316P hub with POE+ (power over ethernet) as I plan on installing a few security cameras. Will still be able to use this one though. Currently hooked up, streaming TV, Xbox, and a couple desktop computers... A Synology NAS is next. This little NetGear hub works great
