This works well converting my parents video tapes by plugging into the camcorder. Only problem is the product gets hot and to prevent damage, its necessary to give it a break after each hour or so of use.

I was very hesitant after reading several Windows reviews on here but gave thus product a chance based on the fact that its a Corel/Roxio product. Im not disappointed. Im currently on tape number 4 of about two-dozen Video 8 tapes from my childhood in the 90s. I forewent the included installation CD and got the software directly from the website. After installation and an update, I was ready to rock and roll. The software is straightforward and offers basic help getting started. 5/5 stars from me.

I did my research on this one, compared the brands I could find on amazon and stuck with roxio, have used there products before and will again. Very easy to use, picture will come out the same as your tapes no way to improve on them. Did not find any dvds that it would not work with, I had some old ones that still recorded. If your looking to move your tapes to dvd this is the way. Saves the files so you can record more than one dvd from your pc or laptop. At about ten dollars a pop from retailers who do it for you its easy to save big money if you have a lot of tapes. would buy again.

I hated that right after I bought it it was $30 cheaper. It works well enough. I had some trouble with the cable, even bought another attay, which didnt work, had to pop it open, it somehow disconnected it from the pins inside, plugged it back in and it was good to go.

Updated - after trying some other products that worked intermittently, I discovered my USB ports were all bad intermittently. I had thrown away the Roxio, and gotten another one, but it stopped working, too. After I bought a new computer, I dug the original unit out of the garbage, tried it again, and it has been working flawlessly for several weeks. So now I have two. The other products were just awful. Their interfaces were difficult to understand, or navigate, the video and audio were out of sync, or the recording image window wouldn’t go full-screen, etc. The Roxio is by FAR the best unit out there. Trust me, I tried them all. Original post (please ignore) - My first one died after about 20 hrs of recording. I thought it was a fluke and that Id get another and use the same software. The second one lasted about 15 hrs.

Ive used several different video transfer systems over the decades. This system is very easy to transfer videos to the computer. As fare as transferring them to DVD, I have not tried that yet.

Software quirky but it does convert analog to digital satisfactorily
