Strathmore 566-5 500 Series Hardbound Mixed Media Art Journal, 5.5 x 8.5, White, 32 Count

I bought this based on the ratings by reviews from others. Not sure why this journal has such a high rating. I like the cover. Thats it. Nothing else to like. First of all, the journal does not open flat which is a huge annoyance. Second, the paper quality is awful. It has a very noticeable mechanical pattern and the watercolor (professional grade) behaves as on a very cheap paper. Third, the backside is much worse than the other making painting on both sides of the journal not a good option. I would not buy this again and would not recommend to anyone either.

Strathmores quality far exceeds any other sketchbook I have tried thus far. An excellent buy.

This product is amazing. You can use it for any media and it always comes out great. The build construction is supreme to any other all media sketch book because it is hardcover instead of soft cover.

I use this a watercolor book often. I apply my watercolors as a backdrop to sacred poetry that I write. The book was purchased months ago, and it is in good order. Strathmore is a name I don’t have to worry about. They always deliver the best products. Nice to sit near a tree and sketch it for a future painting, knowing it will last.
