I had another of this exact same book from another source and the paper is slightly but noticeably thinner. My pen (mostly Uniball, which are heavier than ballpoint) shows through just a tad more, and scratches and bleeds a bit more on the grain. I realize this is a SKETCH level book with 60lb paper, its not actually meant for pen. I AM disappointed tho, that I went off my experience w the previous exact same book, which didnt bleed v much - I use it for writing, not drawing so a bit of show-through is fine - and did not receive a consistent product to that. This book doesnt appear to be fake, just that the company reduced the quality slightly. I would not buy this again, but I wanted a matching one for my previous book.

Using this journal for an online mixed media class and it is a perfect journal! The paper is thick and withstands all types of mediums. Love this journal and will continue to buy for all my Projects!

Strathmore, oh I love thee! Your paper makes me happy in more ways than I can say. My mixed media work shines and your paper is strong enough to handle what I toss at it! All artist should bow to the great Strathmore. ;) Yes, I love it!

First of all, let me say that Ive been looking around for a long time for a good mixed media sketchbook. Ive tried Canson, Holbein, and Strathmore. Canson did horrible with watercolors, Holbein was a bit too yellowed for my taste, and the Strathmore sheets had an unpleasant texture to them. These are all personal opinions, I must add.

Perfect for 8.5 x 11 addicts who find those other sizes outside their comfort zone.

All the 7th grade art classes were required to get this book and all of the local stores were sold out. I was able to order and get delivered in time for the start of school.

Using it as a watercolor coffee table book. Great paper, works for my needs. If you like to scrub your watercolors, then it will only take so much cause its just 140lb paper.

Cant wait to use this. I can tell that it is thick enough for mixed media - collaging, acrylic, watercolor, etc. :-) Perfect size too. I love the hardbound cover! Worth the money. :-)
