SwissGear Unisex-Adult 5358 USB ScanSmart Laptop Backpack, Black Dot, Large

Bought this as a replacement for my last SWISS backpack. Great quality, comfortable to west, and does a great job storing laptop.

My son wanted a new backpack for college. He always likes a few compartments to organize with. Swiss Gear bags never disappoint with quality and attention to detail. He’s hard on packs, and we still have two from this brand around the house. Worth the money.

UPDATE 01/27/2020: The zipper on the shoe compartment came off completely a couple days after Christmas 2019 while traveling, rendering that portion of the backpack useless. While I was using that portion of the backpack not for its original intended use as designed by SwissGear, it should have held up for much longer than 5 months. The bag is sitting unused and empty in my home office while I use a LowePro backpack. --- Recently my 6 year old NorthFace 40L Overhaul backpack that I used for travelling, EDC, et cetera started to fall apart. When I saw this backpack on Amazon I wondered if the zippered shoe compartment would be able to fit a camera case (https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Holster-Camera-Case-Cameras/dp/B008MWBY6W/). And it fits it perfectly! I did add some extra padding inside of the shoe compartment before putting the camera case inside. While this isnt a dedicated camera backpack it suits my needs perfectly. So far Ive travelled several times around Alaska, to Seattle, and to the Midwest with this backpack and it comfortably holds my MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, Canon 6D Mkii w/ 24-105mm L lens attached, as well as a 70-200mm L lens in a padded bag along with extra room for light toiletries and random small items. My only complaint after using it for a few months is that the shoulder straps dont seem to sit comfortably around my shoulders.

3/31/2021 Wanted to provide an update on the bag. Everything I said is still true. 1 year, 4 months, and 10 days later, not a blemish, not a tear, not a loose string, not a stitch undone. Ive brought this bag overseas twice, snowboarding on the mountain 20+ times, dropped it, scratched it, and nothing, nada, zilch in terms of wear or tear. I will never own another backpack model. A coworker of mine put me onto the SwissGear bag brand while picking up liquor to sneak into a boozeless karaoke bar. Before a trip to Amsterdam and Brussels, I ordered this magical sack. This bag rocked it all trip long. From impeccable comfortable weight distribution (35 pounds feels like 15), to the clever wheeled luggage strap connecting your bag to the luggage handle, this thing has it all, and more. The bag can unzip and open like a crocodile’s mouth when swallowing a dwarfed hippo and consume your belongings with ease. There are many compartments and compartments within compartments. The bottom right pouch for shoes doubles as an umbrella or flashlight holder keeping the rest of your bag dry. Plus, you can open and close it to snag the umbrella without taking the bag of, like a Ninja unsheathing their sword. Have not used the USB charging feature but, seems excellent. I have an iPhone Xs and it does fit into the front shoulder strap phone holding pouch. Again, the comfort level is real and how it just feels like it’s floating above your back even with significant weight in it. If you have back probs, pops, you should probs buy this props-worthy bag. The metal cable in the top carrying handle is ingenious. Plus, an insulated cold pouch for soda or a roadie. Also, I ordered the $9.99 4-year insurance which SwissGear will repair or replace irreparable bags for, you guessed it, 20 years! Nope. 4. Showed my friend my new bag based on his SwissGear recommendation. He bought one and dearly loves It. Sometimes he wears it to bed. No, no he does not. Finally, I put the bag to the ultimate test. I wore it to an interview with nothing else on. Guess what, I got the job! The panel interviewers were able to easily overlook the fact that I was only wearing a backpack due to there complete adoration of the bag. So i bought this backpack.. it cost the same on Amazon as it does on the site, and since I have prime, I didnt need to spend money on shipping. I had a Swiss gear Backpack for over 20 years (YEAH.. my mother bought me one in 1995, when i was a freshman in Highschool), the zip finally broke on me November 2019. I work full time, I study, and I travel a lot.. so for me.. I needed a reliable backpack. And I can only think of Swiss Gear.. This backpack is the same material as my old backpack and has a few extra features.. Its light on the back, and its extremely professional and great for traveling as well. It has an insulated compartment for a waterbottle! Hopefully this will last me another 20+ years!

Good bag. Wish I’d known the they dropped the price by 30 bucks before I through away all the tags though.

Every feature works as described. I have not had it on for long sterches yet. But it was comfortable when using it.

I got this to replace my husbands beloved backpack (that he uses for everything) after his finally fell apart. Ive been using a SwissGear backpack for years and it still looks new. Its all I use when I travel. So well appointed and sturdy. He wanted a blue one and this one is such a lovely blue shade. The trim and accents are all the same color which makes it look more professional imo. I will always buy SwissGear backpacks!

Its a great backpack and holds up to a lot. I usually have 60lbs in it. I would give it 5 stars, but one of the small clips on the side broke and it wasnt under a load.
