> 3 dayThe pocket layout on the new ballistic colorway is a definite improvement, but make sure to inspect the stabilizer straps for defects. The stabilizer straps are the small straps with the little arrows on them located at the top of the shoulder straps and their purpose is to keep the elastic from overstretching. If theyre too long like the ones shown in the images then they wont be effective. Thankfully they were the correct lengths on the replacement, which is why I suspect it was just a defect and not a design choice. I spotted the defect when comparing it to my old backpack, but you can test for it yourself pretty easily without needing another pack to compare it to. Start by gripping the shoulder strap at either side of the elastic with both hands then pull it tight. If the stabilizer strap fully stretches out like the first ones shown in the attached images, then the strap is the proper length. If there is still a lot of slack remaining on the stabilizer strap however then its defective and I suggest you return it for a replacement (although it might not be too hard to fix yourself if you know how to sew). Now that Ive covered the defect issue, and the reason Im only giving 4/5 stars, I want to say that Ive been very happy overall with this backpack over the past 3 years, but I was never very thrilled with the layout of the interior pockets. Im glad to report however that theyve addressed that issue with the new interior layout on the ballistic version, which is very similar to the limited edition version from 2018 that I missed out on. Theyve also recently added back the side mesh pocket over the drink compartment. Youll notice its missing this pocket on the product images, but both packs I received had it, as well the navy blue ballistic version someone else reviewed. Other notable changes is the addition of a document sleeve and a large interior zipper pocket in the main compartment. The adapter pouches were moved to the secondary compartment and placed higher so that they sit above the laptop sleeve. This all results in the backpack being slimmer when fully loaded, and it also makes accessing the main compartment easier. The USB port has also been moved to the side just above the shoe compartment due to the battery pocket being relocated. This is another change I like as well, because the only time I ever used it to charge my phone was when I was sitting down with my backpack next to me or when I had my backpack on top of my suitcase. Probably just a matter of preference as Im sure there are people who preferred it on the strap, which was a unique location, but I definitely find the new location easier to use. I dont write a lot of reviews, but I wanted to make you aware of the stabilizer strap defect so you know to check for it. I also had to spend a lot of hours researching the new version to decide if it had enough improvements to justify upgrading, so hopefully my review helps you with your decision I think the only major flaw with this backpack, is the mesh pocket is pretty short. It holds my 24oz water bottle fine, but only just barely. It also doesnt have a ton of smaller compartments, but its size, shape, and features suit my needs perfectly. It slides easily under the seat on airlines, its comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and the shoe compartment is perfect for stashing my laptops power adapter and wireless mouse. I probably wouldnt recommend this backpack to anyone looking for a dedicated school backpack due to the lack of built-in organizational features, but you know your needs better than I do so dont let that dissuade you.

> 3 dayWhile there is a separate space for shoes, you cant fit a womens size 9.5 in the opening without smooshing the backs of the heel down...not ideal! Also, when you have shoes in that area you are very restricted on the interior space for other items. I would say this backpack is on the smaller to mid size...not something that works for middle school/high school needs!! We ultimately sent it back. If you need something small I can say the stitching/design looked solid/well made. If you are expecting to pack gym shoes and carry a laptop and notebooks this is not the backpack for you!!

Greater than one weekMy last backpack was a SwissGear that I purchased almost 15 years ago. With that longevity, I was certainly going back to the brand. This backpack is even better than the last, more comfortable to wear and splits the balance well between a more compact size, but still plenty of room for my business needs (laptop, tablet, notebook, pens, safety vest, etc.).

> 3 dayAs a college student who was looking to upgrade from a jansport backpack, this is honestly a great backpack to get. It is pricy, but it was needed for lugging around some textbooks, and other essential school supplies. It’s practical since it’s comfortable, carries a lot of stuff, and it also looks very good. One of the things I was worried about was on how big the whole thing would look on me. I am not a fan of thick, bulky backpacks, and although this is not the thinnest backpack either, it certainly is not an eyesore sticking out. Very good plus. For those of you who are skinny and short as I am, this will work well for you, and should look neat and professional. Package arrived well and included the lock. Very easy to set up as well for other uses! Another awesome feature was the cold water bottle compartment that keeps your drinks at temperature, and of course the USB charging port on the strap is an added bonus that is convenient for the student or traveler on the go. I hooked mine up to an Anker portable charger and it works just great! The only downside for me was the sunglasses compartment. This pocket is for sunglasses but it’s a hard shell area pocket that sticks down to one of the compartments that I use to store my notebooks and textbooks. It only makes taking things out and putting things in a little awkward since there’s that bulge of a pocket in my way. Other than that though, totally worth a buy if you want a good backpack that is durable. I’ve only had it for a bit but it seems sturdy and only the test of time will show how well it really is.

> 3 dayBag is better than expected but straps are coming off. Just think that a SWISS bag should be more durable.

> 3 dayI was expecting a free lock with it as I read from the reviews. Anyway, mine did not have a free lock with it when it arrived. So I ordered 2 locks just now, for I was very satisfied with my purchase, though it took more than a week for them to ship it. Arrived ahead of schedule.

Greater than one weekThe backpack overall is great with one small, annoying feature...the built in sunglass holder. Its a hard case which I understand is great for protecting glasses but when trying to use the zippered middle section of the bag, the hard case gets in the way. Would be great if you could remove it or if the pouch was soft or pliable. If you try to remove the case you lose the pouch altogether since its sewn in. Other than that, great backpack.

> 3 dayHelped keep me organized while traveling with multiple electronic devices. Used as a carry on and LOVED it. The luggage strap made it easy and portable with my rolling luggage and the storage and organizations options with the bag are endless! I added bungee webbing to the front of the pack in order to be able to have a tad more flexibility. Items used to add netting were ordered on Amazon, too!
