After 3 months of use I saw a small white dot on my screen I contacted Viewsonic. They said they would replace it. They sent me a refurbished unit. See the second picture which has all these white circles all over the screen. I told them I just want a refund and they said I need to go through Amazon. What a hassle this has been.

[Note, as I write this the unit is marked down to $646 brand new. At that price its worth a gamble as my unit had small defects which may have affected the entire output.] This projector is an example of the cart before the horse. Excellent 4K clarity, brightness, remote, menu response time, plus 3D. However the ground base of any unit is the brightness (ie white) uniformity, which this model has no better of than my old $400 projector which has been serviced multiple times. Projectorcentral reports its uniformity as 60% -- a poor mark, but Im not confident my unit even reached that. The far left side was always brighter than the remainder of the picture, and in mainly white or light scenes such as snow, sky, or sand there was a visible scoop of bright bias. Next, and at least as problematic, was the focus-zoom rings equation. The zoom ring was very stiff and jumpy, making it impossible to mask the pixel grid (screen door effect) as normally with a DLP projector you focus and zoom to maximum sharpness so that text aliases, then delicately dial down the zoom so that text is naturally rounded, thus reducing the pixel grid to a tolerable visibility of ~9 distance (which isnt affected by the size of the screen projected). However the focus and zoom were so fiddly on this model that they constantly borked the convergence and uniformity further, focus messing up the left side of the image, and focus the right, that I had to leave it at maximum sharpness, meaning a constantly visible screen door effect on any light surface. Crap. Then there were the menu lockouts. Color tweaking possibilities for this model are more than adequate when available. For whatever reason, more often than not they would be locked out, so, eg, Id play a film and the Movie color mode Id had it on previously would now be locked in place, so not only could I not tweak it, I couldnt select another mode or temperature profile. Sharpness seems only to be available for native 4K content too. Lastly, a couple glitches. My USB port would not power anything. I just turned it off via the menu before it created additional problems. The Blank feature would instead turn the projector instantly off -- which is not merely irritating but potentially destructive as projectors are built to run the fans for 30 seconds to a minute while powering down in order to expel pent up heat. Bonus info: I couldnt hear the 4K shift, which is to the good, as thats a common complaint. High altitude mode, if youre in the mountains or just somewhere very hot, is quite loud as is pretty much always the case with these small projectors, so youll need a hushbox if youre running it.

Nice full featured projector. Viewsonic has become one of my go to companies for high quality projectors. I use it for Halloween digital decorations on my windows.

Decided to build a projector screen (PVC board) for our patio area for nighttime movies. Since it is outside, I didnt want to trying to mount a projector and found out about short throw units like this. Screen size is 138 (diagonal), projector is about 7 away, and only 15 off the ground. I built a custom stand to allow quick tilting and levelling adjustments. This unit is awesome! Nice and bright, clear HD picture (Chromecast TV HDMI dongle), zoom/focus/keystone adjustments are simple to do quickly from the top of the unit and were good to go. Very satisfied!

Ive had this for about a month now. Ive installed many projectors and have some experience here. Overall its a good projector, the throw distance was perfect for what I needed. Projecting onto a 110 screen from about 10 away. - Hanging from ceiling. Im using this for daily use. Audio for my setup goes to a soundbar from the 3.5mm jack for normal viewing. When I turn on the receiver, it interrupts the audio from the HDMI and the audio only comes from the surround speakers at that point. Works well and sounds great when needed. Pros: Excellent throw distance for small rooms. - Very forgiving throw distances. - For my screen size, anywhere from 108-140 throw distance will work for 110 screen. Plenty bright - However it is not powerful enough to overcome the room lights I have. You still want to use this in a space you have good control over the light. Its 4K Its 3D - Yes, this works well, but I did find myself inverting the images on a couple movies. - Used DLP Active shutter glasses. - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08C9SWQKM Its small - This is good because I have a low ceiling where this is installed and need people to be able to walk under it. Cons: Cant get this to power up or down with the Xfinity remote (Volume does work after trying a dozen codes). - Still working on a remote config for my system. No optical out. (Would be nice to have for added connection flexibility.) When viewing in 3D, it puts the lamp from Eco mode, back to normal, and does not put it back when 3D viewing is over. This is the highest brightness setting and uses up lamp hours quicker. - Use one of the Eco modes for longer lamp life. Adjusting the screen is a little cumbersome, but doable. Focus and zoom are stiff, making it hard to really fine tune it. Fans can be a bit loud. They are worse when lamp is set to Normal. Overall, not bad. The price point for being a 4K projector is good. Its far from perfect, but given the cost and what it can do, Im happy with it so far.

I already have a Ben-Q short-throw projector ... but wow, this ViewSonic redefines short throw. I can plug this into the laptop dock on my on my desk, and it projects a big screen image on the very wall that my desk sits against ... 2 feet away from the projector. This feels like the end of ever having to worry about whether your home theater is long enough to get a big screen image projected. That problem feels fully solved with this project. Its truly amazing. And the picture is fantastic, to say the least.
