I had researched for a while and seemed all my problems would disappear switching my kid to Chrome book and this Acer laptop. After playing with it and doing the folding and just manipulating it, the thing reset itself. Using it normally and now delicately a few times I noticed fans going wild and some lag. Becuase of remote schooling I wasnt going to go through the song and dance they put you through but my hopes of just working and my life becoming easire were completely dashed. Massive dissapointment, never buying ACER ever again. Then the other thing to note if switching to chromebook for school or a group is.. they will own your laptop, period.. you cannot switch to other accounts or use it for any other functions or apps except what they choose. The argument is its safer and... etc but bottom line is you cannot use it freely yourself for all the other 18 hours a day. Not even creating a seperate account with a password for the paretn or anything logical. Iwished I had just gone to best buy, bought a regualr windows laptop, downloaded chrome and be in control of my hardware while having somewhere / someone to deal with the fact I ofcorse as my luck has it, were sold the lemon... The chromebook constraint problem is not the reason for raitng but the fact i got sold a lemon is

best device I have ever owned at this point in my life. Fast, looks great, easy to use, responsive touch screen, great resolution, great size, great battery life and looks slick. the only minor complaint is that the speaker comes from the keyboard. I highly recommend the product especially for the price.

First, I got a brand new machine from Amazon. I updated to the latest ChromeOS and let my kid use it. We noticed graphic glitches when playing Roblox. Then only a couple of days in ownership it hanged hard during game. I powered down the machine and it did not boot up after that. I tried a lot of things suggested from the Internet and nothing worked. I had to resort to using the recovery image and wipe the whole machine and that still did not work after the recovery. The machine eventually worked normal the next day. Then it hanged again within the first week while using Zoom. That time I was able to reboot. Because of these problem in the first week I returned the machine.

Is it a PC? No, obviously not, but I have an overpowered midtower on a desk for things that need power and an exe file to work. However the this Chromebook fits a need for portability and at a lower cost than a decent laptop. Ive used cheap Chromebooks before and wasnt thrilled, but this Chromebook brings a lot to the table. You just have to decide what your needs are.

Yes, Pixelbooks are super-expensive as they can be had for about twice the price of Acers but I would seriously consider Googles if I could afford it for the following reasons:

Ive had this puppy a long time now, and I still adore it! Works beautifully! Fast and user friendly, in fact, it just keeps getting better and better!

its not that great in the shape of a tent, the sound comes out the bottom it stands on, now that i have speakers, i will probably use it that way more.

The keyboard backlight is such a waste of time. They should do it nice or not at all. Really the backlifgt is so bad it makes the whole laptop feel cheap
