> 3 dayI spent hours trying various settings and watching videos in an attempt to make this panel look good, unfortunately theres not much information out there on this panel. The ghosting effects are unbearable. The colors are awful, the gamma is awful, the shadows are awful, the refresh rate bounces allover from 50s to over 200 which causes a strange flicker effect on the panel -- It randomly goes from bright to dimmer, back to bright, back to dim, etc. Theres virtually nothing positive worth noting. Ive got a ASUS TUF Gaming 23.8” 1080P Monitor (VG249Q1R) Full HD IPS 165Hz -- It is flawless and beautiful, zero ghosting, vibrant colors, a completely different experience. Ill just go buy another one of those. The 5 star reviews must be for another model, because this Acer Nitro XFA243Y Sbiipr 23.8” Full HD (1920 x 1080) VA Gaming Monitor is not even worthy of a single star. Save up an extra $30-50 and get something better. DO NOT BUY.

> 3 daySorry for the messy photo, but my cables were all organized until Acer support wanted me to try different cables to try and fix this white screen. Just bought this product 8/6/2019, and Im writing this as of 8/11/2019. I was only able to use it for 5 days and when I got home, excitedly turned on the computer, started playing my game, and suddenly, just a blank....white.....screen. Called Amazon Tech Support, and looks like they knew right away the issue, dead LCD. They recommended to either contact Acer Warranty for a replacement, or just do a return. I attempted to file a warranty claim with Acer using their website. I was able to fill in all the details, hit the last checkbox, and when I hit NEXT, it doesnt let me through. Maybe its because Im using Safari, so I tried Firefox, still the same thing. But hey, maybe their website is not optimized for Mac, lets try my Windows laptop. Still the same thing. Now Im pissed. Lets try calling their 24/7 Tech Support, which made me do the steps which I already told from the start that I already did prior to calling, but okay, I guess you wanna make sure. Here comes the fun part, I will be shipping the monitor to Texas, and any damage incurred during shipping will void the freakin warranty. GREAT! WHAT COULD GO WRONG DURING SHIPPING RIGHT? Oh, and dont forget, it takes 7-10 business days for them to check it out, and thats starting from when they receive the monitor. Good thing I still have the box because for sure, its way faster to return this piece of crap to Amazon and order a non-ACER one and it will take me less than a week to receive it. RANT OVER, NOW HERE COMES THE REVIEW FOR THE 5 DAYS I WAS ABLE TO ENJOY IT. Pros: - Jumping from 60Hz to 144Hz is something else. Once you go 144Hz, you cant go back to 60Hz. Everything is buttery smooth on my games in Ultra. I never knew watching yourself hover your mouse on the screen would be satisfying. - Comes with a Display Port cable, so you dont have to buy one. - The swivel, tilt, height adjustable mount is interesting. Very easy to work with. Youll have to see for yourself to know what I mean. - Box is really solid. I feel like if I kick it with the monitor inside, it wont break. Im pretty sure our folks on the Amazon warehouse already threw this thing multiple times but it still survived without any major defects on the box. Cons: - Very unfriendly UI on the settings of the monitor. Its a chore to actually adjust stuff, and the settings that you get are hard to navigate at. - Its a TN screen, so if youre coming from an IPS display, its not a pretty sight. Some of the stuff on the screen actually is blurred if its text, but with any graphic programs, really works well. - I didnt notice any response delay difference between my 60Hz Dell IPS monitor vs this monitor. Both of them seem to have barely noticeable response times, but maybe its because I only play MMOs and not shooters. - Broke down on me on the 6th day. White screen of death. Im glad that those who got working ones are enjoying their monitors. Sadly for me, thats not the case.

> 3 dayI was reading a review and saw someone else experience the exact same issue I have. Sometimes the display will go blank and show nothing. This could happen for days and then eventually work fine again. If I looked at a second monitor when the issue occurred, I could see windows recognizing the device when its on and hiding the device when its off, so it seems like there is a signal being sent. The monitor was just not displaying it. The monitor is relatively cheap compare to other high refresh rate monitors(At the time I bought it in 2017). I had this issue occur to me multiple times and I even sent it to Acer twice to get repaired. Shipping I had to cover each time. Both times, the monitor got sent back to me saying they could not reproduce the issue and no repairs were done on it. I narrowed down the issue to the monitor. Some testing I did was use different GPUs, use a different display port and use a different cable. All the while I had a second monitor that did not have any issues at all. One solution was to use the HDMI port but that was only limited to 120Hz, not the 144Hz advertised and the reason why I chose this. I had some issues with FreeSync as well, causing the entire display(more like the backlight) to look like its flickering and it was very distracting. I wound up buying a new monitor and have not had any issues with that since. Since the warranty has expired, Im attempting to use the benefit on my Amazon Prime card of extending the warranty an extra year for certain products. I reached out to Acer to get a repair estimate, their standard fee for out of warranty repairs is $179. Youd be better off just buying the monitor again after factoring shipping.

> 3 dayI was borrowing my friends ASUS VG248QE for a few months as he didnt need it, and when I gave it back, I couldnt get used to 60hz refresh rate again for gaming. I needed a 144hz monitor. I looked at the different offerings from multiple companies, and this one stood our for its price. It is $50 cheaper than the ASUS monitor I mentioned previously, and in my opinion looks better from a build quality stand point. Plus, at this price, the inclusion of Freesync is awesome, even though I have an Nvidia card. Very pleased with my purchase so far, but if anything happens, I will update this review. Pros: PRICE Good build quality Freesync No dead pixels (yet) Includes a display port, which in my opinion is the best option for connectivity Stand is fully adjustable and can rotate to 90 degrees 1ms response time Very easy to put together and is easily able to be attached to a VESA mount. Viewing angles from the sides are actually very good, and will look fine in a 3 monitor setup Cons: Color accuracy is not the best, but is to be expected from a TN panel, but it is perfectly fine for playing games. The seam around my display does not seem to be pushed together all the way, but it isnt a big deal. I wish the speakers were louder, but at least they are there. I HIGHLY recommend this monitor

> 3 dayI returned this monitor after about three days. 144hz is great, but if you care enough to get that kind of refresh rate, youll care that this monitor makes it look bad. ---- As far as 144hz monitors go, this is about the cheapest you can get. And it shows. Youll see lots of reviews about how poor the color looks on this screen - and theyre right. Some of them, and other places on the internet, will tell you that this screen can be improved with manual color calibration. While thats *technically* true, it will never come close to any other monitor Ive had in terms of color range. No matter what settings or color profiles I installed, the colors always looked washed out. Im not a big videophile or anything like that, but I couldnt use this monitor with any other monitor I own because the difference was incredibly noticeable - and nauseating. After never worrying about colors on my other monitors, this was a stressful experience that I did not anticipate. Many LCD monitors advertise a precise viewing angle at which to view the screen. On this monitor, the viewing angle is SO small that the top and bottom of your screen will always look slightly off, and only the very middle will maintain the appropriate colors - or near to them, since the poor screen color problem still exists there. ---- I will say that I liked the stand - high range of motion, good angles, rotation great. However, its LARGE. The stand base is about a foot, in a circle, and it didnt fit comfortably on my desk. I had to move my keyboard farther forward to make room, and move my desk itself away from the wall to let it hang over a bit. This may not be a problem if you have a large desk, but just be aware.

> 3 dayWhen I first heard about this monitor, it was almost too good to be true, an under $200 g-sync compatible, 144hz monitor?! I mean come on who are you kidding? My curiosity got the best of me and I had to check it out. At first glance it seemed pretty good, but after reading other reviews I was skeptical because I feared I was going to regret buying it. People had said that they had monitors with dead pixels and washed out colors, or simply a black/white screen. However, the huge amount of positive reviews just made me want it even more. After receiving this monitor and testing it out, it did not disappoint at all. Initially I had it hooked up to my laptop through HDMI (supports 48-120hz), but I realized that I wasnt using the monitor to its full potential and so I went ahead and purchased a USB type-c to DP cable and viola! I hit that beautiful 144hz and I can tell you this, once you reach 144hz, youre definitely not going to want to drop back down to 60hz. I paired it with my older Acer KG221Q monitor to get a nice dual monitor setup and it looks wonderful. Anyways I have nothing but praises for this monitor. Pros: - 144hz (so smooth!) - 24 this is the ideal size for gaming and even work related tasks - three unique ports for display (HDMIx1, DPx1, DVIx1) - brightness (its literally the brightest screen ever, I think like 316 nits or something) - color accuracy is wonderful (around 96% out of the box, you can see this in the picture I took compared to my older monitor - The ergonomic features is really the cherry on top with the swivel, tilt, and height flexibility Cons: - This may be an issue to some but for me its not that big: pixel density/ppi (pixels-per-inch), the pixel density is as big as I would like it to be, coming in at about 92ppi at 1080p vs the typical 100ppi+ sweetspots at 1080p. It is a 24 so it makes sense that the pixels will be stretched slightly, vs say a 24 1440p 60hz monitor. Again, this isnt a big problem for me as Im not sitting like two inches away from my screen and its not that noticeable when doing normal tasks whether it be gaming, work, etc. [REMEMBER 24 1080p 144hz > 24 1440p 60hz] Side note: make sure you go to settings in order to change the refresh rate to 144hz, otherwise itll most likely be set by default to 60hz out of the box. Also YOU NEED USE THE DISPLAY PORT TO GET FULL 144hz, HDMI will only get you up to 120hz, and thats if you have an HDMI cable that supports that bandwidth.

19-12-2024First off if you order this from amazon, get the gift wrapping option. They come shipped in their factory box which clearly advertises what is inside the box. My first one disappeared or was never arrived to my house. Amazon was awesome and replaced it and I was on standby the whole day it was to arrive lol. That aside, I’m really pleased with the monitor itself. It’s the first “gaming” monitor I’ve ever owned so with nothing to compare it against, it does what it advertises. The packaging in the box is very protective. Assembly is quick, intuitive, and no tools are needed. The base is stable, which is welcome since this monitor can be rotated, swiveled, raised and lowered in height, ect. I didn’t have any dead pixels in my screen thankfully. Picture is great. I haven’t played any fast paced games so can’t comment on that aspect, the games I do play are better presented since this is much bigger than any monitor I’ve owned previous. On that note, if you are buying your first monitor, because you are sitting closer, monitors appear larger than you might think having bought tv’s. What I mean is a 24 inch tv for watching the news is tiny, but this monitor for gaming is about the limits of how big I want a monitor. I had to look at the box and make sure it was the correct one/size. (Glad I didn’t buy a 37”) Anyway, it does 144hz 1080p and IMO does it well for a really great price. Haven’t had it long, so hopefully the reliability is on par with everything else so far. At this time I highly recommend.

> 3 dayI absolutely love this monitor, sure it’s not the top of the line and only 1080p but gaming in 4K is expensive. Pros: - 1ms - 144hz - Price - Overall appearance - Sturdy stand - Easy adjustable screen Seriously I had semi low expectations when buying because it was cheaper than some but honestly it’s fantastic I love the stand it doesn’t move or rattle or anything it’s probably the best stand I’ve ever had for a monitor. It has small borders around the screen so it’s not massive and doesn’t take up a lot of space on your desk. Not sure why people say the colors looked washed or whatever to me they looked pretty good I took about 5 minutes messing with the setting and bumped it to 144hz cuz it’s in 60hz standard and it was 100 times better. Cons: - LED power light - Settings So when I first got it I couldn’t figure out what was bothering my eye thought maybe I needed to adjust to the 144hz. Figured out that when the screen is adjusted to the top of the stand the power light was like beaming me in the eye, super annoying. Easy fix cover it with a super small piece of duct tape so you can still see it but not right in the eye lol. The settings menu is a bit of a pain in the ass to manage around to changing stuff but honestly I set it once and never touch it again 9/10 so who cares. You have to go into the windows advanced settings to bump it to 144hz and you need a DP cable HDMI I believe can be set to 120hz. In conclusion guys honestly you won’t be dissappointed in this monitor I love it. Does everything I wanted in a monitor and I don’t get eye strain from long sessions of use which is awesome! Also the price makes it even more attractive. For people who gave it 1 star for a white screen, come on shit happens you got a bad unit, they replaced it under warranty, it happens. For real though if you’re like me who has to check 50 different same items trying to decide, just buy this one it’s great! EDIT: 3 years later and still going strong. Best 1080p monitor Ive ever bought. Not a single dead pixel, no flashing, still bright af, and its actually brighter than my Dell DG2716 and the white is more true lol.

> 3 dayFirst off, the monitor itself is great. I have no complaints about the color/performance of this monitor. It has performed great and compared to many of the more expensive gaming monitors, the price is very reasonable. It does benefit to go through a color calibration process on your computer when you get it. By default, the monitor is a bit bright and washed out, but through calibration, you can get some really vivid and full colors from this thing. Anyway, the reason for the negative review is regarding the warranty. I purchased this in October of 2018 and one day only 9 months later the monitor would not work; it kept saying no signal. I called up their support number and got on the phone with someone and after going through a lengthy troubleshooting session. Firstly, I was talking with a person who I had a really hard time understanding. Between my kids making noise in the background, the quality of the phone call, and the accent of the person, I had to ask him to repeat everything he said for most everything. It was difficult, but I managed. After going through all possible solutions, he said that Id need to send it in to be repaired. They would not send a call tag to have the monitor picked up at their expense. Instead, I would have to send it in at my own expense, and in the meantime, Id have to either find a different monitor to use or be without a monitor for 7-10 days. I decided instead of paying for the return shipping to instead put that money toward a new monitor. Before buying a replacement, I kept trying to make the original monitor work, and fortunately, I have been able to get it working again (not really sure what made it work again), so I have not had to purchase a replacement. Again, I cannot say anything bad about the monitor, as long as it is functioning, but if you end up having to get it replaced, do not expect a great experience. Their policy of me having to pay (even if its just the shipping) to have it repaired is not acceptable to me, particularly within such a short window.

> 3 dayI sold my 60hz ultrawide for this 144 because I had upgraded my pc and thought its stupid to be getting 100FPS+ and only have the monitor show 60. Right away when I plugged it in, even from moving the mouse I could feel and see the difference. This monitor is great and has a lot of settings and allows you to save setting profiles within the monitors software. 24 is massive and the stand easily holds its weight and feels really fluid when adjusting the monitor. The only downside to this monitor is the sound is from 2 tweeters and it sounds like actual garbage. I would def. recommend sticking to your headset/external speakers. They shouldnt even have the speakers in the monitor its a waste!
