Bought this to replace an old Asus gaming laptop, after doing a bunch of research. The Helios 300 is not top-of-the-line, and Id prefer an AMD CPU over Intel (whose lunch AMD is eating this generation), but I am not a l33t gamer and I could not get past the value offered by this machine. I upgraded it to 32GB RAM and threw in a 1TB WD Black and its good to go. A fairly resource-intensive (and as-yet not well-optimized) game like 7 Days to Die is playing at 70-80 FPS on Ultra settings (no turbo or other overclocking shenanigans). They keyboard has three or four lighting zones, but never really played with them. You should never put a laptop literally on your lap, at least if it has vent holes on the bottom, but its definitely a Bad Idea with this one. It gets uncomfortably hot on the bottom and unrestricted airflow is a must. Put it on a hard surface. I actually have shims lifting it up a bit at each foot, so theres a good 3/4 space underneath it.

I like it. Fast! Im sure there are faster but this one is fast enough for me. Graphics are amazing!

It’s really worth it cause back to 12 years I got acer laptops 1.2k. Now I can got 1.3k with nice graphics and gtx 2070.. I haven’t crashed play games thanks for this amazing laptops

I bought this for my teenage for Christmas 2020. He has had overheating problems several times, but it always sits on a desk. He accidentally hit the screen with a metal water bottle and the lcd behind cracked. The computer was on and working, but we couldnt see anything past the digital mess. Went online, did my research, bought a new screen. Replacement was easy, but as soon as I closed the computer it would not turn back on. I searched for answers and this is apparently a more common problem then it should be. Decided to take it to Geek Squad so that I dont ruin something. They returned it unrepaired. They confirmed the screen was the correct on and installed correctly. They checked the mother board and everything is connected and getting power. They checked battery and charging cable. I brought it home and spent several hours doing research. I have literally tried EVERYTHING and this thing is done. What a complete waste of $1600!!!! This is the last Acer product I will ever buy.

Quite a good laptop. Used it for gaming and video casting. Very impressive performance, only drawback is the heat vents on the side may irritate your hands bit if the game if heavy. Fan noise is not that high, contrary to what I read in other reviews. I am satisfied with it so far.

Fantastic gaming laptop for the price. I needed a laptop that could handle some light to medium gaming use, portable enough to travel with an commute for work, and not break the bank. Helios 300 achieves all of that and then some.
