> 3 dayHere is my take if you are only gaming get something cheaper (most of the people looking this i suspect) . This is too expensive for what you get and that application. it also is using quite a lot of power and needs a good cooler which you also need to buy. For that cooler you should adjust the cpu to 600 total costs (at the time of this). Also, you need to go into bios with amd to get all the perf people talk about. otherwise its stuck around 4.2 which by the way voids the warranty. This is an odd policy.

> 3 dayI upgraded my GPU to an RTX 3080 and wanted a better CPU pairing then I had with my 3700x. This 5900x seems to be a great match with my GPU, no bottleneck to speak of. My video processing times have also been cut way down.

> 3 dayIf you can connect with one at MRRP it is an amazing processor. I paired this with a Asus Dark Hero motherboard and with the OC switcher (only available with the Dark Hero) I have a single core boost of 5Ghz (utilizing PBO overclock curve) and a set overclock of 4.7Ghz all core. Simply put there isnt a better processor on the market today for gaming and in productivity workloads its second only to the 5950X (because it of course has more cores). While the extra cores of the 5950X would sometimes be nice this processor runs cooler and at 4.7Ghz can outperform the 16 core 3950X in some workstation based applications. Simply put its an amazing processor, a flagship in every definition of the word.

> 3 dayIve been building machines for a long time - and honestly, Ive never heard of this... a CPU without that ability to process graphics. I purchased one of the highest ROG motherboards and purchased this CPU to start the build process. Knowing that the board has HDMI and a display port - figured I was in good shape to start the build. NOPE. After installing the CPU, Memory and hard drive - I had no screen... tried everything no screen... Turns out that the process does not have the ability to process graphics and send out to the motherboard. You need a separate video card - now typically I get a video card at some point but in this case, I had to immediately in order to install Windows.
