    Greater than one week

I wanted to wait several weeks before writing a review to see how it would hold up or honestly how much I would even use it. I never even considered getting one until I was housesitting for a lady with several cats. As I was tidying up daily I realized how handy it was not to have to drag out the vacuum two or three times a day. So I decided to break down and get one myself. She had another model (that was way beyond my price range) so I did a bit of research and have always had good luck with Black & Decker products so decided to give this one a go. I had no idea that I would be using this thing several times every day to get into those little cracks and crevices, to clean up after my own pets instead of having to drag out the vacuum. So convenient, so handy, so lightweight. Suction power is great…. not comparable to an upright vacuum of course but it’s handheld so you can’t expect that. but for furniture, for carpet, for quick around the litter box cleanups, for dogs with muddy feet and for clumsy kitchen spills (nothing wet) this thing is awesome! For the price point I really was not expecting a product this good. And I love that I do not have to keep the button pressed down while in use. The pricier model I used while housesitting you have to have the button continually compressed and my hand cramped up quickly. I have to use this thing for a solid 15 minutes to even notice any fatigue in my hand and I don’t have the youngest hands in the world…. If you were looking for a hand held vacuum for quick, frequent cleanups. For me, this one is hard to beat! Sidenote, as stated above do not suck up anything wet! You will have to disassemble and clean the filters and then let them dry completely before using again. But it does state very clearly it is designed to vacuum dry things only. There is a little flat where the suction tube meets the chamber and sometimes little things can get stuck in there but was able to get out with a wooden skewer very very easily. Small price to pay. Very happy with this purchase

This is a little bit heavy, but it has good suction power, is easy to to use, and has extra tools to use on nice surfaces and in crevices. A good buy!

Ive used Shark vacuums in the past and decided to get something different this time and I think this is a better vacuum and design. The way it folds over and is adjustable is a much better design I think.

Great vacuum but always a challenge removing and cleaning/replacing the filter. After 3 years and minimum usage, the motor started whining, and the unit became too noisy to use. More than sufficient power and overall design, but it should last longer without replacement.

Maybe 3-4 months after buying Piviot, the the hinged refuse door that pops open to empty it, busted. . The hinge snapped in places. Perhaps it was me giving the device a couple good raps over the the trash can. In any case those hinges might call for a look see for better construction. But yes! I’m buying it again because I’ve never owned a handheld as powerful and versatile as the Pivot. Maybe don’t rap yours so hard.

Since this unit is one-hand held, weight and hand position when vacuuming are really important. Being able to move the nozzle makes it much easier to hold the unit at the best angle for comfort of use. You dont have to lift your arm or elbow at odd angles, so the weight of the vacuum isnt as difficult to manage.

EDIT exactly 30 days later. The charger that is such a bitch to use anyway, died. On the very last day of return eligibility. I am getting a replacement because the thing is just too efficient - the baseboards in my house have never been as clean. But, if this one dies, Im not sure what Ill do. I got this mainly for cleaning up kitty litter that gets sprinkled around the litter boxes. It sucks that stuff up like nobodys business. Perfection. However, I have two major issues with the design. 1. Getting it into the charging stand is a bitch and a half. The stand is now stable enough and the fit is not close to intuitive. Im going to hate it every time I put it away. 2. I had to read the damn manual to get the nozzle back from extension and even that didnt help. Push the raised button on the nozzle. Look, Jacko. There is NO RAISED BUTTON. I finally figured it out but it should not have involved that many swear words.

First of all, this is a pretty good design, with superior suction, and a thoughtful, user friendly design. But, as previously pointed out, when the batteries fail, Black & Decker really lets the customer down by not providing a replacement battery pack, even though it’s extremely easy for the end user to access that battery pack for replacement. But, if you’re tech oriented, you can change the batteries with a bit of work and some skills. The first issue, is getting a cell out of the pack, in order to indemnify it for purchase. They’re readily available, but you need that part number that’s printed on each cell. Also, it’s a bit of a challenge to get one out to see that number. The first thing that must be done is to take photos of the battery pack from both sides, for future reference when trying to connect the new cells together. Then, use some needle nose pliers, getting them under the metal straps that connect the cells together, and pry the straps from the cells. But, after doing so, the cells still won’t just slide out of the holder. It’s too tight. But, I used a deep 3/8 drive socket, of a diameter that was almost as large as the battery cells, and I used it, with a hammer, to drive the cells out of the holder. As I said, before I did any of this, I took photos of both sides of the battery pack for reference, so that I would be able to still see how the cells were connected to each other, after they’d been removed from the pack. Then, I inserted new cells into the pack, and referencing my photos, I connected those cells together, using bits of the original straps, and my soldering iron, to reconnect each cell. I was successful. But, I soon came across a problem that made me wish I’d never spent the money for the cells and went to all that work, as about a month later, the motor’s bearings failed, and just like the battery pack, B & D won’t sell you a new motor! I have 2 of these, but I can’t remember which one is older. But, I think it was the newer on that lost its motor. That should mean the motor failed after about 7 years. From what I’ve read in other reviews, that just may be about the most one can expect from it. Even if you can replace the batteries, it really doesn’t make sense to do so, as it cost me around $50.00 for the cells, and the whole vac is only $75! So, I only saved about $25, and I was still stuck with an old vac, whos motor soon failed! But, as I can’t find another brand that has this kind of suction and thoughtful design (& believe me, I’ve tried!), I just bought my 3rd one!

Never having owned a small handheld vacuum before, I guess it’s OK. It does have an awful high pitched sound and its narrow opening makes for cleaning the stairs an annoying long task. It’s good for a few crumps in the kitchen or some hair on the bathroom floor. OK for the car seats but not strong enough for the floors. Certainly not good for dog hair. Would I buy it again? NO
