I love this little vac. It has great suction & can get into smaller spaces. I used it for the carpet on my stairs & it gets right to the edges. It is lightweight & easy to use. Highly recommend!!

This is the best hand held vacuum we have had, and we have had many. Time will tell but so far it’s good. Great pickup.

TL/wr: A great performer with minor quibbles. I ordered this to replace the older green and white model that had worked well enough for year as long as I replaced the battery every second year or so. As I was about to buy another $25 dollar battery and go through the hassle of dissasembly, I thought about new battery technology and started looking for a hand-vac upgrade. Interestingly enough all reviews and price point led me to the newer model of the vacuum Id had for years. Ive used it for a year now for the general chores of (dry) coffee spills dusting in corners etc. Its main use is strewn cat litter when cleaning up around the box. Its used at least four to five times a week for this purpose so after a year I feel the vac has had a good trial. Compared to the older model it definitely has more suction and the suction lasts longer. Ive noticed no significant drop in performance over this year while the old model would have already started to show some recharge fatigue. It retains the okay crevice tool/extension and the small flip down brush for whatever a small flip down brush is good for. Break down and cleaning remain exactly the same as the old model and two of my favorite features is how easy it is to empty and the washable final filter. Whats not so good? I have only two quibbles that knocked off the fifth star. Neither are insurmountable but I dont give five stars easily. One: The new upright charger stand style is a downgrade from the previous model and it can be a little fiddly to get it to seat. Two: the routing of the exhaust (same as the old model) tends to blow the mess away from the vacuum just as youre trying to pick it up so you have to sort of chase the bits around the counter/floor from several different angles making all jobs take longer than if the exhaust was a re-routed or better diffused. In summary: Id buy it again and I think it really hits a sweet spot in price/performance ratio.

Little hand held vacuum is so powerful; the lifetime of the product and battery life and charge are amazing. I had the previous model for 10+ years it didn’t brake my son dropped it and the collection bin cracked…it’s still working but glued it and use for my garage know. So,I got a new one for indoor. Overall the best. I did compare different ones before repurchase and none stand up to the suction power. Would love if they made a pet hair attachment for it!! If so none on the market could stand up to it.

Its a nice little vacuum. I have been buying them for years. This particular model leaks debris when placed in the charger, the flap inside is flimsy and does not locks well to prevent dirt from coming out. I usually place the vacuum in the palm of my hand and turn it on to make sure debris is all in. Secondly, the batteries died out after about 16 months and to replaced them you have to solder them and also, they are expensive- Its cheaper to replaced vacuum than replacing the batteries. I wish they correct these flaws since it is a nice vacuum.

Thank you Amazon for having a sale on this portable vacuum cleaner! I just got this about a week ago and only used it once for some light vacuuming of dust and hairs which worked perfectly. As directed by the instructions, I charged it for 24 hours, actually a little bit more, before first usage. I know using it once and plus for light usage doesnt speak well for my review but I want to point out that I have some history with Black and Decker Pivot vacuums. My previous portable vacuum cleaner was also a Black and Decker, specifically PHV1800. I had that vacuum for about 7+ years and I love the suction power and pivot design. Of course since its cordless, the battery wore out over time. Now it only lasts a few minutes after a full charge. However Ive never had an issue with it. In fact I never replaced the filter. I was meticulous in cleaning the canister and filter when it was medium dirty or sometimes even just light dirty. For the filter, I would shake out the dark gray junk and then use a toothpick to pick out the junk in each fold of the filter. Again because of the battery issue I thought it was finally time to retire the old one and buy a new one. I was a little hesitant to buy the BDH2000PL after reading reviews of the vacuum going dead after about a month or so for some unknown reasons. After some consideration, I decided to give Black and Decker the benefit of a doubt based on past experiences. I never had any issues with my previous B&D portable vacuum. Also years ago my family got a B&D Dustbuster and we never had issues then. So I am of the mindset that B&D makes reliable products at good consumer level prices. I like this vacuum so far and yes it hasnt died yet. Battery withstanding, this new one is a big improvement over my old PHV1800. It is a lot lighter and also has less mass. The canister can now be completely removed from the main unit for a thorough cleaning without lugging the the whole thing around like the old one. I like that the brush is now integrated into the nozzle. With the old one, the brush was a separate thing that I left plugged into the charger base and was too lazy or never noticed it to take it out and use it. The pivot feels like it has a smoother ratchet than the old one. One thing that worries me a bit though is the vacuum doesnt sound as loud as my old one. Maybe I am just equating loudness with suction power or I am not knowledgeable of any technology improvements B&D has done to this vacuum. I will just have to use it more to see how it goes. Oh one more thing, my old one actually has two On levels: regular power or high power vacuuming. Whenever I use the vacuum, the old one, I naturally push the switch up to the highest point until it stops. I forgot the old ones switch has a middle point before reaching the end. So I guess for my usage maybe the new one is an improvement because it removes the middle point which I never used. But so far this vacuum works. I also like the improvements over the old one so Im convinced this new one is great. :)

Ive only had this handvac for about two months (bought July 2014) and I hope it lasts forever! I dont know how I ever lived without it. It replaces a floor vac that worked through a hand vac, and my main reason for replacing it was that it held almost nothing and was a pain to empty. Boy, did I get more than I expected. The suction on this vacuum is super -- far greater than the hand vac that was supposed to be a floor vac as well. And yes, it picks up kibbles. And cat hair. (Id joke that it would probably pick up the cat, but someone would think I might consider such a thing...) And the crumbs that fall past the toaster crumb tray. And the flour on the kneading counter. And spilled sugar. It picks up incidental cat hair well too, though as the house is completely blanketed in cat hair I dont use the hand vac specifically for it. The round barrel you see is for dirt. The whole end is the lid -- just pull the latch (grey inset above) and dump the barrel into a wastebasket or a bag. So far the lid seals tight when shut (just close it -- not like all the fiddling around with the Dyson). The filter is easy to clean and so simple to remove I have to look at the manual because I dont believe it could be that simple. The little brush tucked under the nozzle gets the last grain of sugar, the last crumb. I still have to remember to angle the nozzle so it can do its stuff. The brush is fairly soft -- wouldnt be afraid to use it on any surface whatever. Press lightly and pull another bit of nozzle out for more reach and bit more slenderness. It locks with a few friction bumps when pulled out all the way, but stays out well enough for a quick slurp when not locked. The pivot is easy to work -- a press to release a latch and presto! Its been harder to remember that I can angle the nozzle to get at the grooves in the sliding windows and other awkward places. Its so easy to stand the vac in the charging stand I have a hard time remembering that too. Just set it down. The vacuum stands in the cradle so vacuum in charger takes up almost no more room than the vacuum alone. It needs about 7 inches from back to front and with the nozzle straight up its about 16 inches high. It comes with screws for mounting to a wall, if one had an appropriate wall. The vacuum goes in the charger sideways, kind of -- handle to the side-- and theres a nice display of a row of blinking blue lights while it charges. Ive never run the battery out yet -- may have an update if I can ever face cleaning my car. Possible cons, for some people: it may make too much noise to suit some, and its kind of high pitched compared to say, the Shop Vac. Kind of goes with the territory, I guess -- never had a decent vacuum that wasnt pretty loud. I dont use the vac for long at a time so it hasnt bothered me. The vacuum blows a strong stream of air (what goes in must come out--) in my face at certain rather unusual angles. It seems to be very clean air, doesnt make me sneeze and sniffle, but its kind of a shock. It does take a bit to rev up -- say one eyeblink. Its ready before I am so so what. It has some weight to it but its well balanced. The question these days is always durability. Will it work for another two months? Two years? Five? Will the BDJ2000PL you buy in December 2014 have already deteriorated from the one I bought in July? Lets hope not.
