Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD, up to 560MB/s - CT500MX500SSD1(Z)

A quality, adequate sized SSD such as this MX500 completely transforms a computer that has/had an HDD. Everything is quicker. Startup, loading, saving, file transfer and windows updates that used to take 1+ hour take 5 minutes or less. An entire windows 10 install will take 30 ish mins. I had to buy an extra 5.99 transfer cable then with the free crucial drive copy software (and a little screwdriver) it took about 20 mins to copy and swap over my old hard-drive. These drives are so cheap now as there is a new drive standard called M.2 which are 1/4 the size of ssd, 5ish times quicker but an SSD like this will fit straight into the old HDD port, M.2 drives need a new port which most laptops dont have. Anyone can who can hold a little screwdriver can install one of these. Using the cable you can use one of these for TV storage also; just attach it to the back of the tv or just let it hang down. they only weigh about an ounce...

This drive is a lot smaller but so much faster.

My PNY 128GB SDD died after jut 3 years as a boot up drive for my desktop. Research a little and people seems to like this or Samsng SSD. got this Crucial SSD because it is a little cheaper than Samsung.

Its amazing, very speedy, easy to install, and the price is fair for the item. I recommend it!!

Attempted twice to use the Acronis True Image for Crucial software to clone the SSD and it froze both times so I downloaded a free 30 day trial of EaseUs Todo which did the job without problem (1 hour for 251GB). Installing the drive was simple enough but experienced freezing issues. This was solved by simply uninstalling the cloning software and the computer now runs properly. The decreased loading times (and better responsiveness) for apps and games is a joy to behold, never again will I use a HDD as a main drive. The other software provided by Crucial (Storage Executive) is actually quite good, a sort of toolkit for your ssd. I would definitely buy again.

I have had no less than 10 Crucial SSD drives & this mx500 does not disappoint. If youd rather spend waste money go ahead and buy a different product, but dont expect any performance improvements.
