Just got back from a business trip and this was waiting for me to set up. I was excited to listen to some old records that have been in storage for years. It took a little while to set up and everything was packaged well, instructions were clear, no complaints. I got it all set, put a record on and turned the switch to 33. Nothing. The light was on but the motor didn’t work. I started the return process and now not only do I have to repack everything, I have to wait two weeks for a replacement. I’m not real happy about that. I may update this later depending on how they resolve it.

Love it! Not a beginner turntable though. Not much so that its advanced, but wouldnt recommend it for beginners. Other than that great turntable!

Ive tried turntables for under $200 and they simply not that great. While the bulk of these are Audio Technica or have the same mechanics as AT, they continuously have issues with skips on records that never have and muddier sound as the album progresses. You cant get a good automatic / semi-automatic that works well anymore (I miss my Technics turntable). So I sucked it up and got the Fluance. I will say as an actual record player, the sound is really good and it plows through problematic records that the AT couldnt handle. Setting it up was fairly easy especially if you follow the video the company posted on YouTube which takes about 5-10 minutes from unboxing to playing. Its a reasonably inexpensive turntable thats meant to work like a pricier audiophile one. I compared the sound to the AT and its not even close. The Fluance sound is bigger and broader in sound making a lot of my old records sound new. The AT is strictly for newbies who dont care for sound. The AT sounds flat and compressed. A better turntable definitely has an audio difference. Im also pleased that the speeds on the turntable were pretty accurate right out of the box. That said, I find it odd that Fluance couldnt add a few more features. Its advertised as a semi-automatic turntable, but thats being extremely generous. The only feature thats semi-automatic is the turntable will stop when the needle gets to the end after 20 seconds. Thats it. Theres no power shut off, no auto return, nothing. You have to drop the needle and return the tone arm manually, and even after that, the power dial also has to be turned off. I dont know if anything bad would happen by leaving it on, but for 21st century equipment, this seems way behind the times. I guess one of the manual benefits is you dont accidentally have it set for an LP when you mean to play a 45 and have the needle automatically miss the record and damage the needle. Given how replacement needles for this are fairly expensive, I could see why one would want to me more cautious but they do provide better sound than cheaper ones and perform better like I said before. In summery. its a turntable that performs and sounds well, but it takes a bit more effort on your part.

Great sound for a $299 turntable. Easy to setup. Does not include phono preamp.

Quality components, smooth speed control. Might upgrade the needle to the OM-30 some day, but sounds pretty good with the stock needle.

Included with purchase is a pair of white gloves, water level and turntable Matt. One of the best features of this model is the ability to level the record player with its adjustable feet. Two in the front and one placed in the mid-back, allowing for ultimate goals of music playing. I live in a room which isnt level, and has front leaning furniture when stationary. Something like this is key in my collection. You get what you pay for, and in this case, you get far more important things in this purchase. One of the most incredible and learning experiences you can have when assembling the device. Seriously.

First the good. The sound quality is excellent and set up was a breeze. The sound is good with the included cartridge ortofon om 10 cartridge but I already had an ortofon 2m red from a previous turntable. Much better sound with the 2m red. The bad. When I got the turntable the curing lever was loose and the curing would not go all the way down. Tightened the screw enough so it would lower enough to allow the stylus to drop all the was down. After just a little over a month the curing lever doesnt work at all. Not worth trying to pack it up and send it back for service as the curing lever is not a deal breaker for me. I play albums all the way through not picking and choosing tracks. For others it might be a deal breaker so check it first so you are,still in Amazons return window. Hopefully this is a one off and not a quality control problem as the sound is great.

You need a preamp but you probably know that. Im excited that I can upgrade this in the future when I outgrow my current setup. Putting this together was easy. Just make sure to balance the tone arm on the surface you intend to place it. Overall the quality is great and sound quality is a million times better than my Target turntable.

I replaced a Philips 777 using an Ortofon 15XE MK2 with this turntable. I am using an ART DJ Pre 2, an Alesis RA 300, a DBX 1231 EQ, a Mackie DFX 12 mixer and Klipsch studio monitors. I was concerned that the OM 10 would not perform as well as my previous cartridge. This was not the case, as the OM10 blew my away with its performance. Balancing the tone arm is a little tricky but I have done this before so it was not too bad. Read the manual !! The other thing that I had to a little searching for was the input capacitance. This cartridge is 100pf and you need to set your pre-amp for this. If you dont, it adversely affects the sound. This is a great turntable and cartridge and was well worth the money. It is fully manual with no automatic features.

Like style, quiet running. Wish it was a little more automated, but knew that going in. The cartridge puts out great sound with quality. Easy to assemble.
