This white carpet is pet proof but it still gets lots of outdoor dirt tracked through and more cat hair than I realized. I’ve used this machine three times so far and the carpet starts with dark areas and once cleaned, looks great. I go very lightly with the soap and am careful to only use the water on spots because of my pet but it works well. Very pleased.

Our carpet is over 10+ years old and between kids and pets... well it needed some love. Usually have Stanley steamer do it for us but then we have to vacate house to let the carpets dry properly. Was very skeptical of this product. Happy to say Im sold! Works great! Brought my carpet back to new! Was able to do it in sections to work around traffic to allow drying. Drying time seemed less as well. Definitely recommend and would purchase again. Economical as well. About 100$ (90 for machine 20 for solution)cleaned my whole house and still have solution left over!

This is a great tool to have! Easy to use….not too bad to clean. I can’t see using it for carpeted home but we have found it to work well in area rugs (our house is all laminate). Here are the tips I have learned after a year: 1. Vacuum well first using your regular vacuum not this product 2. I have tried a few cleaning solutions and found that Woolite pet stain and odor remover works best. Use the same amount as directed. 3. Do rinse at least once if not twice. Just refill the bottle with water. This is a game changer in my opinion. Getting the soap at least mostly out keeps the rug from attracting everything. 4. You have to clean the machine a bit as you go because it will pull-up and soak fibers that wad up and get thrown from the spinner…these wads are filthy. Watch out for the drain filter where it goes into the dirty water holding tank…it’s small and hair/fibers build up. Overall very happy with this purchase. Much easier to use than a rug doctor. Cheers

Ill start by saying that yes, while this does have a few kinks, I would still rate it 4.5 stars due to one of the kinks but overall I consider it to be an excellent purchase! Since this is exactly what I needed for my area rug and dog, Ive rated it 5 stars. First off, I have a German Shepherd/Husky mix who thinks its hilarious to tinkle on my ivory colored 8 x 10 area rug on certain occasions and has gotten sick on the rug in the past. Before buying this very decently priced Hoover, I used to have to buy a whole new area rug whenever this happened because there was no way to spot clean the mess from such a large dog not to mention the smell! After reading the reviews, I decided to give this bad boy a shot along with Sunny & Honey carpet miracle solution based on another reviewers recommendation (cheaper than buying a whole new area rug AGAIN!) I started off by vacuuming the entire area rug several times with a regular vaccum. Then I mixed the solution into the Hoover solution tank (although I really wasnt sure how much to use since its not a hoover product so I started off with about 1/2 a cup and the rest was filled up with water. The Hoover was able to get out the pee stain instantly and with not that much more effort it completely got rid of her shit diarrhea stain as well! The rug is as good as new and smells very clean now! Now for the quirks. Even though I vaccumed twice with a regular vaccum, this thing still picks up a ton of hair. While I love that its able to provide such a deep clean and lift up the crap the standard vaccum did not, the design of the hoover does make it a bit difficult to clean the rotating belt part (see picture). I have to stick my fingers in there after each use and try to manually pull out the excess hair. While this part is annoying, I still give it a 4.5/5 stars because it still gets the job done and does the job well! I also noticed in another review that someone was complaining about leaking. The only thing I noticed is that the dirty water tank does have a spout and if the cap is not properly pushed in, I could see why it might cause a leak, although this has never been a problem for me as I always double check that its plugged in all the way. Although this does not heat the water, I do feel like this machine does dry carpet much faster than I expected which could be part of the whole heat force technology in the description. Lastly, my boyfriend the skeptic thought I was an idiot for buying this thing. He swore up and down there was no way it could clean up the diarrhea stain from when the dog got sick so he sat and watched me put it to the test with a giant grin on his face ready to say I told you so. The joke ended up being on him because he is now absolutely amazed at what this thing could do for a mere $99! He also made a few comments about how good the carpet smelled after it was clean! All in all, this is the perfect machine for someone in need of cleaning an area rug without wanting to spend a fortune. Works wonders on pet stains so this was exactly what I was looking for. The last pictures were taken after I cleaned, as you can see how gross the dirty water tank got as well as how much hair was in the belt that I had to manually pull out to clean. Despit its quirks, both my bf and I still give it at least 4.5-5 stars!!

I purchased this rug cleaner to clean up after my new puppy. The product is just amazing! It is easy to use and clean. It also pulls dirt out of the carpets with so much ease and the carpet dries up quickly!

This is a nice lightweight machine for spot cleaning and the price is good. It does a great job on spots. I would definitely buy it again. One suggestion is to thoroughly vacuum the area first as stated in the directions. This will save you on cleaning pet hair out of the roller brush later. When the cleaning tank is empty and you turn the motor off, it will leave a dark line of dirty water on your carpet.

I got this vacuum a year ago to help deep clean some rental carpets for my infant son who start crawling. Being on the floor w him all the time made me realize how foul the carpets were. This rug cleaner definitely helped as evidenced by the disgusting water it sucked up. I didn’t review this at that time but it was awesome. Now a year later I am using it again to clean some HORRENDOUS carpets in a house I got and it was worth reviewing now. Ease of use: definitely easy to use. I skimmed the instructions for 30 seconds, confirmed things w the unit itself. and was an expert. Efficacy: it’s definitely effective. It is not the kind you rent from HD or Lowe’s but it is good enough for you to clean carpets with for sure. It’s most effective on area rugs, as large sq. Ft carpet coverings take too long to do to come out well with this particular item. Speed: lol this thing is the opposite of speed. But that’s okay, it needs time to suck up nastiness. Slow and low is the tempo with this. Release the solution and push the vacuum forward slowly, and do that same thing when you’re extracting. I go suppppeerrr slloowwwww while extracting. The faster you the less you’ll get out of this cleaner. You really just do this very very slowly. It is a full day affair. Practicality: middle of the road. The dirty water canister maxes out halfway up the canister which I don’t understand but okay. When it maxes out the vacuum with get high pitched and stop sucking. It’s easy to release the canister and dump out but that canister can get nasty so rinse it out w clean water and shake it around a little. The shampoo/solution gets used up really quickly. All of a sudden you’re like where the heck is all solution?! So just be ready to stop and empty out/refill frequently during a big job. Like really frequently. I’d say I have to stop snd empty the tank / refill the solution container about 10 times a session? It’s a lot. And pretty annoying. That’s tank should hold more. And the solution goes down super fast. You just fill it and it already seems empty. It is not designed for huge carpets but so far I’ve used it almost entirely for rooms completely carpeted lol. So. Do with that what you will. Important to know: a few things. This cleaner is not a vacuum. It does not like to suck anything up but dirt and nasty water. You’re supposed to do a really thorough vacuuming prior to using this. I didn’t use one but I recommend one of those lily brushes, the kind that you scrape over a rug or fabric and it gets up all the hair and crap. I need one of those badly. But anyway the carpets I used this with just this week literally had about an inch of dog hair embedded into it that you couldn’t see. The carpet is a blue grey color. This vacuum did NOT appreciate any of it. It spits it out. It kind of accumulates it in the spinner and I had to manually finger that crap out of there over and over and over. To the point I had a four inch high mountain of clumps of hair. It was FOUULLLLL. Every few minutes a huge chunk would shoot out of the bottom or I’d notice the roller wasn’t spinning anymore and I’d stop it all and scrape it out. My pics are of the nasty carpet before and after. One is without flash one is with flash. Such a huge difference! This was with one pass of the extracting vacuum, One night to dry out, and then one more pass with the vacuum. Tomorrow I will vacuum it with an actual vacuum and get up all the remaining hair and it should be good. I’ll never get all the stains and wear and tear out. But it’s clean and significantly better. I have two more rooms to do. They won’t need as much. This cleaner will handle them fine. I like this thing and it saved me $60 and driving back and forth renting the carpet genie. You just have to know it’s quirks. Update, did another room: I added a couple pics from the next room I did. All in all this is taking farrrr longer than I anticipated but it is worth it seeing the before and afters. This room wasn’t as badly soiled as the first one but still had a really really noticeable and gross looking path of wear and tear on it that needed to go. This is going to be a child bedroom after all. This room was much easier and turned out better faster than the other room. One of the pics I show half the carpet done and half the carpet not done. Obvious difference a one pass. The other pics are of the same general spots before and after. This room took about an hour and change. I have one more room to do same carpet same sort of issue w the track path of wear and tear. After all is said and done I will have spent about 4.5 hours on the rooms. I only have hour chunks each night to work on these rooms but if I’d had an entire actual full day the two cleaner rooms would have been doable in one day together. The heavily soiled room Needed multiple days so it could dry and be ready for vacuuming and another pass. This thing is definitely earning its keep that’s for sure.

I used the Hoover PowerDash on multiple light-colored 8X10 area rugs around my home and was really impressed with how much deep-set dirt & soil this compact cleaner pulled up. We have cats, and we also have the area rugs in high foot traffic areas of our home. After about 2 1/2 years of just using a regular vacuum on our rugs, I noticed the gray & cream colors were looking dingy. There were also a few faint stains on our family room rug from normal living wear & tear. I ordered this PowerDash based on positive reviews, and I am really glad I did. For the liquid formula I poured into the cleaner, I used the Bissel Pro Max Clean & Protect liquid formula for Upright Carpet Cleaners, and poured it in this Hoover Power Dash Upright Pet Carpet Cleaner with warm water, following the instructions that come with the Hoover Power Dash Cleaner. After one cleaning, my rugs look completely revived. My husband and I were shocked at how much dirt was in the rugs that we did not even realize. The Cleaner also lifted the faded stains, some that had been set for a good 2 years. I forgot how bright my rugs originally were! The PowerDash cleaner is lightweight and easy to assemble & to use. I also found it relatively easy to clean out the dirty water container. It just requires you to dump the dirty water and then you may have to pull out a few clumps of carpet fiber that the cleaner lifts because of the strong suction. A few tips: definitely use warm water, and go slowly when pushing & pulling the Cleaner during use. The clean water/formula tank is small, so I had to fill it twice to clean the full surface of one 8X10 area rug. The process of filling the water/formula tank is really easy so it is not a big deal, but I would recommend buying an extra bottle of the liquid cleaner to have on hand for cleaning if you plan to clean larger surface areas. All but one of our rugs were brand new 2 1/2 years ago when we moved into our home. The new thicker rugs all washed up really well and felt soft & fresh after the cleaning. The only advice I would give is to be careful with older or more delicate rugs. The suction of the carpet cleaner is strong, so it does suck up carpet fibers. We have one hall rug that is a little older/thinner, and the carpet fibers on that rug were a little delicate/brittle for the suction of the PowerDash. The rug is clean after use, but you can almost see where some of the fibers on this older rug were thinned out from the cleaning. But on all of our newer, thicker rugs, the cleaner sucked up the dirt & soil beautifully and left the rugs feeling really soft and clean. Overall, super pleased with this purchase. I am impressed with how powerful this cleaner is for something so lightweight and relatively inexpensive compared with other cleaners.

Its a really good machine for the money. The motor was more powerful then I expected after I read other reviews. The water reservoirs are small, but I expect that for the price. I have had it now 6 months and it has cleaned some really nasty carpets. I am very impressed. Only thing I wish it had was able to clear furniture as well. I received more than expected so I cant complain.
