Initially connecting it was seamless and serves its purpose. The major design flaw is that when plugged in the direction the plug is oriented it faces backwards/upside down. Very strange design flaw I did not see mentioned by many.

I use these for my aquariums instead of using individual smart plugs. They work great, integrate well, and I havent run into any issues so far!

I recently received an Echo Show as a gift, and was excited to begin my foray into the world of smart products. I started with lights and plugs, thinking this would help me reduce my energy consumption. I also have ADHD, so it would help me during those times when I forget to turn things off. After having a poor experience with a highly-rated but not so great no-name brand, this Kasa smart power strip was the first time I strayed from Govee products, and I’m glad I gave it a shot. The pairing experience was easy. Their app works and is intuitive to use. It allows you to name each outlet individually, and rearrange them on the fly if you need to (useful if you unplug a few things and re-plug them back in to different outlets). Each plug has an indicator light to let you know if it’s powered on or off. Inside the app, lies my favorite feature. It actually tracks power consumption and gives you breakdowns of power use for each plug daily, weekly, and monthly. You can also view real-time power consumption for each outlet (I added a few pictures so you can see what this looks like). This helps me see where exactly my power bill money is coming from, and allow me to make adjustments if/where I can. This power strip also feels well-made - it’s certainly not your typical $5 offering at a big box store. My only gripe is that the two USB outlets do not have Smart Control features on them, and also that there are no USB-C outlets. This is probably the *only* thing that keeps me from buying more of these. I would hope that this will be updated soon, as electronics are moving towards the USB-C standard globally. Overall, I’m happy with this purchase. It’s one of the few offerings in this category on the market, and one of the only ones I felt comfortable giving a shot. I’d say it’s definitely worth a try if you’re considering, just be aware of its teeny tiny shortcomings in the USB-outlet department. I’ve had this for about 3 months and have no issues so far, but will update over time to see what the longevity of this product is like.

I recently discovered Kasa (TP-Link) products and am a believer in smart home monitoring. I have plugs, outlets and now experienced this power strip. Everything was pretty straight-forward, easy to install and manage. I have yet to run into buggy installation for any of their products and the app (iOS) interface is an above average experience. Everything about this HS300 product is great except for one thing: the power cord is a good 12-18 inches shorter than it should be. My desk is positioned a reasonable amount of distance away from the wall where the power outlet is and the power strip just does not reach. See picture comparing my existing (and superb) Isotel Ultra and desk position. If Kasa were to simply add some more cord length, then they have a winner (for my use case, yours might be different). I dont think the cord length issue should drop this product rating to 3 stars even though I had to return the unit; everything else worked.

If you’re looking for a “standard” layout power strip with Wifi capability and 6 individual control capability then this one works great! No issues, app works just fine with my iPhone 13 pro utilizing 2 out of the 6 plugs. iOS 15.6

I want to give the Kasa smart power strip its due as the best there is. I wrote a far different review less than a month ago panning the strip because while I had four of them working as intended within the Kasa app, the strips plugs were not recognized by the Alexa app. The technical support units of both Kasa and Amazon Alexa pointed fingers at each other. I was dubious of a promise by the latter that a remedy would be forthcoming within a week of my complaint. However, a very effective change was made to the Alexa app user interface and presto all of the plugs were recognized! I just bought a fifth Kasa strip to voice-control various lights and devices on a total of 30 plugs! Everything is working as intended. The TP-Link Kasa smart power strip is the best there is!

It’s a well made and functioning unit. Works great for controlling my non-essential aquarium equipment through Alexa. My only wish is that it could reliably keep time and maintain schedules through a power outage. In the event of an outage, it will return to schedule when power is restored but only if it can reconnect to the internet. And I personally have experienced outages where the internet would not come back on. On the bright side though, it can maintain schedules through internet loss provided the power stays on, but only schedules in the Kasa app, not Alexa routines sadly.

The Kasa platform has proven itself to be reliable. I have developed an interest in monitoring the energy usage, not just controlling the power, of every device in my house. Ive slowly been buying into smart plugs, and I am only interested in ones that enable both functions. I am also very concerned with network integrity. Everything Ive read and experienced so far about Kasa smart plugs has been positive. It would just take one security flaw to shake my confidence in the platform. I have yet not seen any flaws. I now have 3 of these Kasa Smart Power Strips (HS300). The design of the product appears simple on the outside. During setup, the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to make it simple for the user is evident. Each plug on the power strip is registered as a separate object in the Kasa app. Once registered in the app, Alexa and Google Home are automatically updated so that if you call its name you can control the power to that object. The app enables easy customization of the name of each object. The Kasa app also allows you to view statistics, such as energy usage, of each object registered that is equipped with energy monitoring capability. I have so far experienced availability issues only when there were legitimate problems with my WiFi network. Once the power strip sees the network signal, it will automatically reconnect to the network. It is not reasonable to expect this product to work in an area where there is a low network signal. One will find themselves having to manually unplug and replug in the power strip to restart it. I am looking forward to more energy monitoring smart products from TP Link on the Kasa platform. I have avoided in-wall smart plugs and switches due to products from other companies which do not have a discipline toward cyber security or have frequent network issues. I think TP Link could be a brand that drives further seamless integration of smart products into my home. I would definitely consider an in-wall smart plug with energy monitoring from Kasa.

Kristine Mae Butalon in Customer Service is the best! I had trouble adding a device to my Kasa app and she was very helpful. In the end we were able to successfully add my hs300 smart strip to my existing app. Very happy with the quality of the product as well the customer service provided by TP-link support.

I was looking for a power strip that had individual switchable outlets for a particular project. This one has that plus can be globally switched also. I didnt pay attention to the power use measurement, that is a cool addition that I might use. My biggest challenge was I couldnt use any of the Google/Samsung/Apple integrations because of what I wanted to do with the scheduling. I needed to use one of the open source suites. I found that very easy, TP-Link has integrations for all the major home automation software. I tested it with - openhab (the one I choose to use) - home assistant they both worked very easily. I scheduled what I needed: once per month on for 12 hours and then off until the next month. Most automation suites are based on 7 day repeating schedules. The annoying thing is you have to use the Kasa software on your phone to do initial setup of the device and for some devices (this one included) you are mandated to create a logon. I wish that was easier because I have no intention of using the software at all for automation.
