> 3 dayBought this since I work from home and have several devices that need to be powered on. This integrates very well with Google home so I have routines setup to turn on my laptop and monitor during work ours and off at the end of the day. It has 3 usb ports which Ive used to power lower devices like an hdmi to dp cable and my desk lights. If you can benefit from automation I would definitely recommend this as setup was quick and there are many features you can take advantage of while trying to automate.

> 3 dayI use it to control multiple life-support equipment on my saltwater reef aquarium... one of the best investments I made. If you can’t afford an expensive aquarium computer/controller system then this is the next best thing. Every outlet has its own schedule that you can set to turn on and off multiple times per day. For example, I have the filtration system automatically turn off for 5 minutes twice a day, while an automatic feeder provides food for my fish while I’m at work. I also like that it provides energy consumption information for each outlet. If I’m on vacation, I can check in real time throughout the day that the equipment is consuming energy, which lets me know that there hasn’t been a power outage in my house and that the equipment is running properly, so for me this feature is critical. As a side note, a good upgrade they could make would be phone alerts letting you know that the power strip has lost electricity. But this product still provides more than enough value to earn 5 stars. Everything can be controlled remotely, I can turn the outlets on and off manually from literally anywhere and I don’t have to have my phone connected to WiFi. Highly recommend this product.

> 3 dayI was looking for a power strip that had individual switchable outlets for a particular project. This one has that plus can be globally switched also. I didnt pay attention to the power use measurement, that is a cool addition that I might use. My biggest challenge was I couldnt use any of the Google/Samsung/Apple integrations because of what I wanted to do with the scheduling. I needed to use one of the open source suites. I found that very easy, TP-Link has integrations for all the major home automation software. I tested it with - openhab (the one I choose to use) - home assistant they both worked very easily. I scheduled what I needed: once per month on for 12 hours and then off until the next month. Most automation suites are based on 7 day repeating schedules. The annoying thing is you have to use the Kasa software on your phone to do initial setup of the device and for some devices (this one included) you are mandated to create a logon. I wish that was easier because I have no intention of using the software at all for automation.

An Honest Reviewer
> 3 dayI ordered this again for another part of my home because the first one is awesome. Upon receiving this one today, I noticed it sounds a little cheaper than the first one and it looks different as well. They both say theyre HS300s but theyre clearly different models, but are similar in the way of the same amount of plugs, the wifi/alexa integration, etc. This new one actually looks like the picture, so the first one may be a different model. The new one has a flip switch thats a little sunken into the frame and has 3 LEDs Sys, Grounded and Protected. The first one has a circle for a power button and 2 LEDs. They both have 3 USB ports and 6 power ports. This second one, I appear to not be able to rename the ports in Kasa as I was for my first one. Hopefully this one works as well as the first one I bought.

> 3 day***another update 3/1/22 Red circle of doom twice a week. This started after the last firmware update for me. The thing was running about as well as stated in previous comments. The strip is now losing connection to network, but no matter how many soft resets you try it doesnt respond. Also if you try resetting and re-adding to network, you cant connect to the strips wifi. It seems to me like the wifi module in this strip is dying or the firmware is causing it to hard lock. I fully regret buying these.*** Well, it is pretty beefy in person. It lights up nicely but its basically just dots, like the old days when you had switches that glowed when you flipped them... It could be better if you could tell which outlet was lit easier, like make the dots numbers instead... 1-6 that would be useful. Yeah yeah, I know im supposed to be staring at my phone all day... But nah. I want to set it up, bark at alexa and be able to quickly verify the voice in a box didnt screw up after saying okay. The power monitoring (whole reason I bought this overpriced power strip) is lacking. Really I expected to be able to monitor the whole strip, groups of outlets, and be able to override the auto shutdown of an outlet below certain currents. Basically all you can do is check each individual usage, one at a time, and making groups just lets you switch multiple outlets as a single name. Which frankly, I can already do in Alexa app. So that was a dud. This gets a 3 because I paid through the nose for a powerstrip that does basic power monitoring. I could have just bought one monitoring outlet and plugged my old strip into it. So this really needed to do more for the huge price premium. It does not. If you want to plug in stuff and give individual outlets names to be controlled remotely, this is probably for you. If you wanted to check on power usage of your entertainment center (for example) both total power and individual consumption, then this is not the strip you are looking for... ***Update to drop to 1star *** Wow, it is total junk. Ive only had it a few days. It basically hard locks. Refuses to respond to the app. Forcing a factory reset... Not even the soft reset works. Wow! It wipes out your settings and data from power monitoring. What is the point of this then? To make it worse, it randomly shuts off and restarts itself. I have voice control disabled so its not like Alexa misinterpreted a sneeze as shut off strip Im supposed to trust it even clamps at the supposed joule rating? This thing is going back, I havent been this P/Od at a purchase in ages. Edit* after getting replacement: I was convinced something was wrong with the strip I had. No way could my experience be the expected performance of the thing. So I tried swapping it out. The experience has been better, still almost everything I said in the original post applies. The resetting and locking up, losing data etc is much better. Sure once in a while I have to reboot a router because the whole KASA line of products in my house suddenly drop, Smartthings and Blink and others were still fine. Aside from that it performs about on par with a not so overpriced power strip. Bottom line, back to 3*s. It isnt all that usefull. I am holding out hoping TPlink updates the software to offer better monitoring. Maybe then a higher rating is justified.

> 3 dayThis worked great for a few months, then I changed my router. It still honestly worked fine as a powerstrip/surge protector until recently when I tried making it a smart strip again. My pc is plugged into it(mostly to monitor power usage) along with some other stuff like a normal lamp, fan etc. normally all off. Since I got a re650 tp-link wireless extender to strengthen my network connect around 6ft away from the strip, it has been randomly shutting itself down for an instant effectively shorting anything connected... (testing my network on my pc the signal is 300mbps, regardless wifi shouldn’t be triggering a reset if it wasn’t a problem when I hd no router for a full month) 3 times just today and I refuse to continue using it for fear of damage to my electronics. It’s not even about this being a good smart strip this is literally not even a good power strip anymore. I opted to go for tp-link because they have a lot great reviews and if this was still the product I got when I opened the box I’d agree but now I’m shopping for a simple surge protector to replace this hemorrhage of wasted money. I’m usually about reading every level of reviews and am very careful with my purchases so I hope this review helps people. Not all bad reviews are reflective of performance but I’d definitely take risks with something else, this didn’t even make a year. After my recent problems with my extender and router I’d suggest avoiding the tp-brand altogether as their 5 star reviews seem inflated compared to my own experiences. My fault for banking on 3 devices all from the same company. Either a lot of the better reviews are bots or there’s a huge silicon lottery with these things.

> 3 dayThis is a sturdy solid device and because you don’t have to plug in those large Wi-Fi plugs you can actually use all of the outlets! I have tried many different smart plugs but Kasa has been the easiest set up and become the most dependable brand of smart plug I’ve used over the years! This device also monitors the energy from each plug…awesome! I highly recommend this brand for any smart plug you need!

> 3 dayInitially connecting it was seamless and serves its purpose. The major design flaw is that when plugged in the direction the plug is oriented it faces backwards/upside down. Very strange design flaw I did not see mentioned by many.
