Kasa Smart Plug Power Strip HS300, Surge Protector with 6 Individually Controlled Smart Outlets and 3 USB Ports, Works with Alexa & Google Home, No Hub Required , White

I can say that this is one item that was as easy to get working as anything else I have installed. The instructions were better than 98% of devices I use plug it in and it works - period. While it can be used then, Alexa will use the outlet number for reference. However, I prefer to assign a name to the device the outlet is controlling and that is a simple function also. I intend to buy several more of these for use in my house where there are a number of plugins and having them Alexa controlled would be a help.

Was enjoying the smart features of this power strip for a while, especially the remote control on/off feature, but a storm caused a power outage in my neighborhood. After getting power back, this power strip just refuses to connect to my wifi again via the Kasa app. Ive reset the power strip numerous times by holding one of power buttons on the strip per the instructions but I get the same error message in Kasa cant connect to your wi-fi network. Also tried reinstalling the Kasa app to no avail. Still works as a dumb power strip but I obviously have to physically be present to switch the individual outlets on/off so no different than any other power strip. Not what I bought it for. The devices I had connected to it survived the power outage, so at least the surge protection works as well. Id look elsewhere for a smart power strip however.

A person can get back what s/he pays for this smart power strip in savings from electric utilities in about 1 to 3 months. This is how I use the power strip to hunt down which of my home appliance and electronic device uses the most power. It turns out to be my large screen TV, which consumes 100W. I used to have my TV on most of the day even when I am just playing music from Spotify or YouTube. In San Diego, electricity costs $0.42 to $0.52 per kWh. Over 30 days at 24 hours per day, the TV was sucking in (30x24x100)/1000 = 72kWh or $29 to $36 a month. Over a period of 2 months, I simply made sure to turn off the TV when I was not watching it or when I was just listening to music. I was able to reduce $20 per month in electricity bill - $40+ over 2 months, which pays for the power strip. And the saving continues. And the saving continues...

I use it to control multiple life-support equipment on my saltwater reef aquarium... one of the best investments I made. If you can’t afford an expensive aquarium computer/controller system then this is the next best thing. Every outlet has its own schedule that you can set to turn on and off multiple times per day. For example, I have the filtration system automatically turn off for 5 minutes twice a day, while an automatic feeder provides food for my fish while I’m at work. I also like that it provides energy consumption information for each outlet. If I’m on vacation, I can check in real time throughout the day that the equipment is consuming energy, which lets me know that there hasn’t been a power outage in my house and that the equipment is running properly, so for me this feature is critical. As a side note, a good upgrade they could make would be phone alerts letting you know that the power strip has lost electricity. But this product still provides more than enough value to earn 5 stars. Everything can be controlled remotely, I can turn the outlets on and off manually from literally anywhere and I don’t have to have my phone connected to WiFi. Highly recommend this product.

I recently received an Echo Show as a gift, and was excited to begin my foray into the world of smart products. I started with lights and plugs, thinking this would help me reduce my energy consumption. I also have ADHD, so it would help me during those times when I forget to turn things off. After having a poor experience with a highly-rated but not so great no-name brand, this Kasa smart power strip was the first time I strayed from Govee products, and I’m glad I gave it a shot. The pairing experience was easy. Their app works and is intuitive to use. It allows you to name each outlet individually, and rearrange them on the fly if you need to (useful if you unplug a few things and re-plug them back in to different outlets). Each plug has an indicator light to let you know if it’s powered on or off. Inside the app, lies my favorite feature. It actually tracks power consumption and gives you breakdowns of power use for each plug daily, weekly, and monthly. You can also view real-time power consumption for each outlet (I added a few pictures so you can see what this looks like). This helps me see where exactly my power bill money is coming from, and allow me to make adjustments if/where I can. This power strip also feels well-made - it’s certainly not your typical $5 offering at a big box store. My only gripe is that the two USB outlets do not have Smart Control features on them, and also that there are no USB-C outlets. This is probably the *only* thing that keeps me from buying more of these. I would hope that this will be updated soon, as electronics are moving towards the USB-C standard globally. Overall, I’m happy with this purchase. It’s one of the few offerings in this category on the market, and one of the only ones I felt comfortable giving a shot. I’d say it’s definitely worth a try if you’re considering, just be aware of its teeny tiny shortcomings in the USB-outlet department. I’ve had this for about 3 months and have no issues so far, but will update over time to see what the longevity of this product is like.

I love these strips and have around 10 of them now. They are really really nice, and the Kasa app software is incredible. The only downside of these strips is that they frequently disconnect, and require you to flip the power off and on, for instance with your toe. Until you do this, the device will have a red light saying it lost its connection, and Alexa complains. It happens about once a week per device, and all six plugs stop responding to Alexa until you power cycle. Make sure you dont have a computer plugged into it. This is mostly an issue with further-away wifi connections. I just wish the device reconnect logic were a bit more robust. Other than that, amazing product. I just wish they would let you name the entire strip in the software, since managing 10 of these is a chore.

This thing is AWESOME! A little tricky to set up at first, but if you use a timer for any outlets, you need to get this, it saves so much space. And if you add yhe cost of several timers and a power strip, the cost comes out about the same.

The only thing that would make it better would be a way to have the Kasa app tell me all my energy usage on one page rather than making me tap on each plug. The app should tell me about the power usage of every monitored device on one report or its not useful. Otherwise it seems reliable enough. I use separate schedules with some of the outlets and that was easy to set up. Google Home found the new outlets and lets me control them without needing to open the Kasa app once I finished setting them up.

The cord length is too small

I love and own many tplink devices (cameras, door bells, lightbulbs, smart plugs and smart strip). Had only one issue that their self-help support couldn’t resolve. Turns out a factory reset fixed it. Can’t imagine i am the only one that would benefit from that simple suggestion. So, if anything isn’t working right, reset it. My issue was scheduled on or off never worked. Using the on off button on demand- no problem. Using the timer - no problem. Only schedules failed. All plugs all ports on any outlet. Weird huh? I even did the “have you turned it on and off again (unplugging from wall) no help. No clue why all features via the software/app worked except for schedules. You could set up a schedule, It would show it would be the next thing to run but would never actually control any outlet. Its great as a support for growing my tomatoes and other herbs and veg from seed, controlling the heat mats and lights independently.
