> 3 dayThis was very easy to install and set up with wifi. I love that it can be controlled by an app on my phone. It can also be controlled manually if need be. The two outlets allow us to have patio lights and an outdoor fan hooked up at once but used independently. I like this product!

> 3 dayThe quality is as pictured - its really good. However, setup was not fun. Put it this way: I bought an amazon smart plug. I plugged it in, Alexa discovered it automatically, and I was in business. This plug requires you to install a third party app, create an account, set up your plug, and link a skill with Alexa. For me, the linking process kept erroring out on me, to the point I got frustrated, removed the third party app, and decided to return the plug. However, the next day, I reinstalled the app and power cycled my echo, and everything just worked. So...Im keeping it. Youll see THREE smart plugs in your Alexa app. One for the main device, and one for each plug (there are two). You can manipulate any of them with your Alexa/Echo. Now that its installed, Im happy with what I got - Alexa voice control for outdoor patio string lights. But it was a big pain to get it working.

> 3 dayWorks perfectly to turn on my outdoor lights using Alexa. Two plugs to help divide the load for longer lights strings lengths.

> 3 dayI bought this to control a pond pump outside. In my experience the thing that distinguishes Meross wireless switches from others is the ease and peace-of-mind of connecting it to your wireless network. First you install the Meross app on your phone (in my case an iPhone). When the switch receives power for the first time, it creates its own temporary local WiFi network whose name will be something like Meross_SW_abc123. You connect your phones wifi to this network, and the Meross app connects to the switch over that network. Then you tell the app which home network you want the switch to connect to under normal operation, and the password for that network. And then youre done. For folks like me, who want to be careful to keep their smart devices on a separate Guest network because you dont 100% trust them and dont want them to be able to talk to your home intranet, this setup lets you do that. You never have to enter in your main home network credentials. This is in contrast to some other smart switches Ive seen that are very unclear about which network they need and why. The WiFi signal is good too. My switch is plugged in outside about 100 feet from the router. According the the Meross app the signal strength is at 20%. But I havent had any problems controlling it.

> 3 dayThe Smart plug worked well. I was using an indoor smart plug outside and the wifi signal was too weak to activate. I replaced with this outdoor smart plug and immediately the issue resolved. it did the job well!

Greater than one week1) you WILL need a separate app to set up and get it to work with smart things 2) it may lose connection once in a blue moon but you just need to reboot the Meross app and get it to recognize your smart things base station again. 3) Smart Things will almost always turn on both sides instead of individually. No idea why it struggles to control the ports independently. 4) It does appear to be waterproof after a few months of use. 5) it does achieve a solid wifi connection to my ASUS ROG AX router which is in the center of the house, not on the outside wall with this unit. Overall it does what I need it to do MOST of the time. Meross app is glitchy, as expected. SmartThings hub MOSTLY works with it as long as the Meross app stays on your phone. Next time I will just go Zwave.

19-12-2024I wanted to like this device and for the first couple of weeks it worked fine. But then it disconnected from HomeKit. Viewing the support site, I learned that new firmware had been released but the update would require downloading and installing the Meross app, which in my book defeats the security inherent with being able to connect and manage devices directly from within HomeKit, circumventing 3rd party app/cloud pass-through of ones data. But since the Meross app was the only path to the firmware update that would supposedly fix the connection issues, I did so. Meross warns that updates may take up to two minutes. This update froze and after 10 or so minutes I reluctantly had to reboot the Meross app (interrupting a firmware update should always be ones very last resort). The Meross app would never again re-pair with the device for another try, despite power cycling the device, trying its hard reset sequence a number of times, and even restarting the iOS device. Opening a support ticket and filling out all the info they were seeking seemed way too invasive and time-consuming just to ask a simple question they failed to address in their FAQs. This thing is going back. I tried a Meross device previously and had a disappointing experience that time too. Fool me twice, shame on me I guess. My smart home network consists of over a hundred WiFi, Zigbee, and Zwave devices and despite the variety of manufacturers that make up that collection, none of those brands have given me as much trouble as Meross has.
