> 24 hourIf you have your own home WIFI router, they never have enough ports, 4 max. This is the way to add more ports for multiple wired computers, VOIP phones, laptops, Multimedia. I added mine for 2 VOIP phones and a bridge. Go with an 8 port or 16. You will always find that at some point you will need to expand. For $21, I cant complain. This is a wired eitherswitch, has nothing to do with WIFI so that could not be rated. Real simple to install, Tech support, not needed. You may need a Cat 5E or Cat 6 Ethernet jumper cable as this is a Gigabit Etherswitch. 3 to 5 foot may be fine but more if it is a long run.

> 24 hourWe just build a new house and all of the rooms are wired for internet. The problem is that the router that we were provided only had so many ports. I bought this to help extend the number of ports that we had available. NETGEAR is my go to for switches like this and this one did not disappoint. I was not looking for anything managed so this hit the mark 100%. Install is a breeze as you just plug it into power, plug in your internet input and then you have 7 other ports to plug into for the rooms in your home. I will be doing a whole home network with some pro grade equipment, but this has been an amazing band-aid until I have the time to get that all laid out and up and running. I will hold on to it just in case there are any other hubs or devices that I might want to run once inside of a room that might need some extra ports.

> 24 hourCould use a better explanation of how to set up VLANs within the GUI/Software, and their uses (for people even less experienced than myself). Otherwise, great switch for a great price.

> 24 hourI needed t go is in order to connect all of my gaming systems on the internet. All of the ports on my router were already being used. This product came with a very simple setup and I was up and running in no time. It doesnt come with a LAN cable so youll need an extra one of those. Beside that, 2 this up.

> 24 hourI bought 2 of these devices and 1 works perfectly. However, the 2nd one conveniently went out around the end of the product support window listed on Amazon under my order details. However I still have a 1 year manufacturer hardware warranty. The thing just will not respond and has 4 solid lights that never change. No network connectivity whatsoever. I just need a replacement! Overall a good product but contacting NetGear and actually getting someone on the line with any kind of knowledge or ability to help is pathetic!! Ive been on hold for over an hour bouncing around from one department to another getting transferred multiple times. Each time Im assured that they are transferring me to the appropriate group that can assist with support on my specific device and each time I was told they need to transfer me again. Ridiculous! Would like to give support negative stars! Most likely will not buy this product or anything from NetGear ever again.
