Very expensive, but really great quality. it is quiet and keeps my processor cool. I switched from a closed loop liquid cooler which had lost its coolant due to permeation over around 8 years. Its really nice not having to worry about leaks with this air cooler. It may not be quite as cool as the liquid cooler, but air coolers have less to worry about. it is very heavy, so its recommended not to transport it with the heatsink on. If you do a lot of transporting, you may want to pick a lighter one if possible. I did transport mine over an hour and it was okay when I got back to my apartment. Definitely be careful and think about the orientation of the heatsink when you transport the computer. But overall really great cooler. It keeps my cpu cool without any noise.

Im pretty consistently happy with Noctua coolers in general. Im not sure its worth posting a review on this because I dont really have anything to add beyond whats been said before.

Upgraded my firewall appliance to an i7-4770K to make full use of the throughput provided by my new 500/500 Mbps internet connection. Running Prime95 or AIDA64s System Stability Test saw temps that were alarmingly high so I replaced the cooler I had on the outgoing CPU (an i5-4570T) with this and like every other system of mine that has been graced by a Noctua cooler the temps came right down to comfortable values.

Didnt come with alternative mounting kit for AMD. You can only mount it horizontally.

Works great in a SFF case.

After much research and vacillation between water vs air cooling, I went with the noctua. My Skylake 4ghz clocks to 4.7ghz with this--with water maybe I could get a little more but it doesnt matter to me; I mostly run it at under 4.5 anyway. The fan is dead silent and mounting the fan on top, as shown here, allows my low profile memory not only to fit under it but to be inserted or removed (ATX case). I also like the orientation of the radiator. Why? Physics--the farther out the mass from the point of attachment, the more leverage on the motherboard; this orientation with the radiator parallel to the motherboard keeps the mass close minimizing the leverage--the fan also blows right down onto the memory.

It fits like a glove when you need a low profile, premium air cooled heatsink. This fit just barely in my Corsair Air Carbide 240 MATX cube case and on a Gigabyte GA-Z170MX-Gaming 5 MATX mobo. I had to mount the fan on the bottom side to meet the clearance of the case, but if you have more space, you could add a second fan so that there are dual fans in push-pull config. I have it cooling an I5 6600K which is currently OCd and with Prime 95 running, Im still under 60C.

I purchased this cooler because I had an awkward computer set up. Firstly, the case is too thin for full-sized tower coolers. And secondly, I have high profile memory. This made it almost impossible to find an air cooler that would work in my rig. But the NH-C14S was the answer.

Im so impressed with this fan. I decided to build a gaming PC but wanted it small, so went with the Thermaltake Core V1 case and a mini ITX Z97 board with i5-4690K so I could overclock. I was going to do a self contained water cooler but all the ones around $100 had so so reviews, with most people replacing the fan on the radiator with a Noctua one anyway. So thought Id take a chance and just go air cooling. The fan in the photo looks small but its still huge. Fits fine in my case with the fan under the radiator vs on top like in the photos (it supports both methods as well as adding a second fan). I overclocked my system from 3.5Ghz to 4.2Ghz and on idle Im running around 26-29 degrees C and when using 100% under Prime95 for stress testing I never go over 59. Highest Ive ever seen it hit was 61. Even when on full at 59 degrees the fan is insanely quiet, to the point that I had to turn the TV right off to try and hear it. With the system on the floor you cant hear it at all. Very impressed and highly recommended. Photo shows my rig with it installed to show the size.

NH-C14S HeaderNH-C14S Header

Successor to the award-winning NH-C14, the NH-C14S is an elite class top-flow CPU cooler that is extremely efficient, highly compatible and remarkably adjustable. Thanks to its deeper fin stack and the renowned NF-A14 PWM fan, the single fan NH-C14S provides similar quiet cooling performance to its dual fan predecessor while being even more versatile: With the fan installed on top of the fins, the cooler is compatible with RAM modules of up to 70mm height. With the fan installed underneath the fins, the total height of the cooler is only 115mm, making it suitable for use in many HTPC cases. At the same time, the new offset layout allows it to clear the top PCIe slot on most µATX and ATX motherboards. Topped off with the trusted, pro-grade SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system and Noctua’s proven NT-H1 thermal compound, the NH-C14S is a premium quality top-flow solution for the highest demands.

Low Profile Mode

Run with the NF-A14 fan installed underneath the fin stack, the NH-C14S stands only 115mm tall, which is much lower than tower coolers with 140mm or 120mm fans and allows it to fit many desktop style or HTPC cases.

High Clearance Mode

Run with the NF-A14 fan installed on top, the NH-C14S provides extended clearance underneath the fin stack. This way, it is fully compatible with chipset coolers and RAM modules with heat-spreaders of up to 70mm height.

NF-A14 140mm premium fan

Featuring sophisticated aerodynamic optimisations such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A14 is renowned to be among the best quiet 140mm fans on the market. Combined with the deeper fin stack of the NH-C14S, it allows the cooler to achieve similar performance levels as its dual fan predecessor despite only using a single NF-A14.

NT-H1 thermal compound

Noctua’s much-acclaimed NT-H1 is a pro-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease of use and outstanding reliability. Chosen again and again by overclockers and enthusiast users worldwide, it has established itself as a benchmark for premium-quality thermal compounds.

C-Type top-flow design

The c-type top-flow design of the NH-C14S not only allows for superb quiet cooling performance while maintaining a much lower profile than today"s 140mm tower-style coolers but also ensures excellent airflow over RAM modules and near-socket motherboard components.
