Our refrigerator power went out because a GFCI was tripped while we were away. When we returned, about a month later, you can imagine the mess and smell. Threw everything away, took all shelves and drawers out and commenced deep clean of interior and all components. First soap and water. Then bleach and water. Then baking soda solution. Aired it out and washed again with baking soda. Spread several plates of baking soda around entire interior and plates of fresh coffee grounds as well. Most odor gone, but still... Ordered this product and placed it on top shelf near air vent. 24 hours later, fresh as a country breeze. No chemical odor as claimed by some people here and I have a very perceptive olfactory system! Could not be more pleased.

TLDR: Believe the reviews! The year old odor in my fridge was completely gone in less than 24 hours and has not returned—it’s been about 2 weeks. It says it lasts 6 months. 100% worth it! Long version: I bought this as a last resort because I’ve been struggling with a weird fridge & freezer odor for about a year despite multiple deep cleanings with multiple products (bleach, Lysol, Dawn Powerwash, etc) and natural things like vinegar including leaving multiple boxes of baking soda in both the fridge and freezer. My fridge was spotless but it smelled weird and I felt like it seeped into my food sometimes. I’ve thrown food out because I thought it smelled like the odor. So gross and embarrassing too. This product cleared it right up! I put it in a night and when I checked in the morning the odor was reduced significantly. By that afternoon, it was gone and not a hint of it has returned. I put one in the fridge and another in the freezer. If you’re on the fence, get this product! If you’ve read this far it’s because you’re desperate for something to work, like I was. It’s worth every hard earned dollar!

I had a sour milk smell in my fridge that I could not get rid of. I emptied the whole fridge, cleaned it with multiple different products and did a smell test on EVERY SINGLE ITEM in my fridge, and still the smell was there. The only thing I could come up with was that my kids spilled something in the fridge that got into some opening or crevice and started to sour (of course they all denied this). Even an open box of baking soda did not help. I purchased this deodorizer and within a few hours I noticed a definite change, in 3 days the odor was completely gone. Going on a few weeks now and my fridge has ZERO odors. One reviewer mentioned this leaving a heavy chlorine smell in the fridge and their food. This did not happen with me. If you hold the unit up to your nose you can detect the smell of something that resembles chlorine, even though it says it uses charcoal. But eventually that chlorine smell disappears from the unit. Still, I highly recommend. It just works!

I have a mini fridge in my bedroom and I had put away a pint of milk but it had accidentally spilled. I thought I had cleaned it all up, but the smell a few days later said otherwise. Baking soda wasn’t cutting it. And it came to me not even wanting to open the fridge at all. On my search on Amazon this product came up and I thought the price was worth the experiment. So I stuck it in the fridge, and even then I was hesitant to open the fridge a few hours later lol but when I did I was genuinely surprised how well and how quick it had worked! It does have a very faint chlorine kind of smell, but I’m very sensitive to smells so I’m sure to any other person it would be undetectable. Even then, I prefer that clean smell than rotten milk! Also it says it supposed to last 6 months! That’s so much better than remembering to replace baking soda every 30 days- especially for a forgetful person like me.

We moved a couple of months back and noticed right away that the fridge in our new house had a bit of an odor to it. We figured a good cleaning would take care of it. After a couple of thorough cleanings in the first month of living in the house, we hadnt gained any ground on the smell. We tried boxes of baking soda, DampRid, and activated charcoal. As a last resort, I spent four hours disassembling the inside of the refrigerator (see pictures) in an attempt to do a deep clean. I removed foam pieces and soaked and scrubbed them in the bathtub. I removed gaskets that seemed to be especially smelly and replaced them with trim intended for sealing exterior doors. I was very frustrated the next day when the fridge odor was obviously still present. I then stumbled upon the NonScents Refrigerator Deodorizer product and thought Id give it a whirl. I didnt notice any improvement a couple of hours after installing it after work one night. The next morning I thought the fridge smelled better, but also thought that I could be imagining that. Later that night, I was convinced that it was really working. The smell continued to dissipate over a couple of days and was completely undetectable to my wife and I after about 5 days! One review that I had read on this product mentioned a chlorine smell being imparted to nearby food. We have not noticed this at all. Upon opening the package initially, I did notice a bit of a chlorine smell, but that was it. I do not smell anything chlorine-y in the fridge. Id highly recommend this product.

Came home from a week long vacation to find the panel box breaker flipped on both the garage fridge and stand alone freezer which contained 1- 1/2 processed deer and around $300 worth of other meat products. From the smell, Id guess they fridges had been down at least 4 days in the middle of the summer. It was BAD. I mean really bad. My whole garage smelled like pure death. After cleaning the fridge/freezer very thoroughly with bleach and a garden hose we just could not get the smell out. Used all the old remedies everyone knows and nothing touched it. I really thought I was going to need to toss both appliances before I decided to give this thing a try. Ended up taking about 4 days in each freezer and the smell is 100% gone. There is a very slight smell of chlorine, but nothing like Ive seen in some of the other comments. Would absolutely buy again.

After reading the rotten duck smell review, I decided to buy this product. I am so glad that I did! When we moved in, our fridge and freezer smelled absolutely horrendous. I thought I cleaned it pretty well, but over the next few weeks, our food started tasting like the disgusting smell of our fridge/freezer. It was awful and I avoided eating perishable food because of it. My hopes that the odor would go away were dashed, and I realized that we would need to bring in some heavy artillery for this awful stench. I followed the advice of the rotten duck smell reviewer and did bleach my fridge and freezer before adding these deodorizers in. For the first few days, all I could smell was the bleach I had used to clean the fridge and freezer with, but not even a week later at this point, I open my fridge and freezer and smell... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I highly recommend these, and I would buy multiple. We have two in the freezer alone. Buy them!!!
