> 3 dayI replaced the old mechanical 1TB hard drive on an ASUS Q504UAK laptop with this SSD. The old drive was super slow with response time getting worse with each windows update.... The installation of this SSD and data transfer using the Samsung software was very easy with no issues. My laptop has been saved!

Greater than one weekI have bought and installed dozens of these in older machines with mechanical drives and it has sped them up considerably. Havent had any failed units either which is nice.

> 3 dayI purchased this in November 2011 and it is now June 2022 and the device has failed. I noticed first my computer was locked up so power cycled it. It would no longer boot, and was no longer recognized even by the bios. It took several hours and many attempts before it came up enough to be accessed by ddrescue to pull an image off it to see if I could recover my data. Interestingly, I had a PNY drive before this and while it lasted longer it also seemed to fail prematurely in comparison to the old spinning platters of rust they replaced - some of these drives are still going strong after 10 years of near continuous use!

> 3 dayAfter the hassle of getting Windows to recognize this. Then the hassle of getting it formatted. It needed to be formatted to GPT. It comes with no instructions. Im not a IT guy, how do I know it needs a specific format for my system? It was a hassle. After filtering through pages of useless online advice and trying some of it, I finally just used familiarizing myself with the contemporary info realized it needed GPT. Now that Ive done it, I could do it a thousand times. The SSD drive. So fast. I love it. I bought it as a 500Gb boot drive. I wish I would have bought 1Tb. Its cheap enough. Then just cloned my entire drive over and my old HHD as a backup drive. Think about that before you purchase.

> 3 dayI bought this and all went well until it began crashing last week. Then again this week. The software Samsung provides is useless at detecting anything wrong with their drives, providing false positives that mean nothing, and providing nothing in the realm of the info you actually need.

> 3 dayFunny how the starred questions have nothing to do with Amazon. This is my second drive and my first was as good as everyone says they are. However, apparently Amazon is now substituting FedEx with UPS. Well FedEx stinks! They are unreliable and you cant ever get a straight answer from their tracking numbers. I can always tell when Amazon is using FedEx, because the updates and or estimated times of delivery arent ever projected; Worthless! I love my drive and it was very easy to install and I expect it to work properly for quite sometime. I do not however, have any faith in FedEx, or the time I will receive my second drive. One star on delivery options! I wish they would bring back being able to pay a few extra bucks and expedite and not use FedEx!

> 3 dayI replaced a failing SSD in my laptop with this device. I did not use the Samsung provided software to clone the failing SSD (it wasnt dead yet), but rather Macrium Reflect free. All partitions (4) on the failing drive were copied/cloned to the Samsung drive using an external USB3 enclosure. I then swapped out the failing drive for the Samsung which booted without incident. I then used the Samsung Magician software to re-establish over-provisioning and run a couple of tests. The 870 definitely tested faster than the old drive, but you cannot really tell the difference in day to day use. If youre curious, the failing drive was acting suspicious, but passed the manufacturers software test. I then tried the laptop diagnostics and the drive quickly failed the short test.
