Great for using with a gaming console

Having waited for 2 months for Samsung to patch their software due to MAC OS Catalina update, I still cant get me data off my 3 disks. I have learned my lesson and dont intend to repeat. Why they mandate their own security software versus others, like western digital and others, that offer the ability to do so at the users end is beyond me. More importantly, I was a fool for getting enamored by the small size (which is really nice). That said, I would rather be able to use my own drive to store things without waiting for their smart teams to recode things while I sit and wait. This will happen again so beware of what you sink your money into with Samsung T5.

Perfect for data storage

IS a great SSD for the price, of course there are faster and bigger storage SSDs out there, this is not top of the line, but is a very good one, data transfer speeds are as per spec. It does work pretty well on C type usb ports and with files 10 GB or less data transfer is super quick, files larger it does slow down a bit.

Having learned many years ago the importance of not only backing up my data (with encryption) but also copying my entire hard drive (I use a MacBook Air), I have regularly made copies of both onto external hard drives. I wanted the additional security of solid state, thus decided to try out Samsung. I purchased this particular external hard drive on the recommendation of a recent article in Mac Life.

Wish it was cheaper so I could buy more.

Im using this to record uncompressed HD video over a USB 3.0 connection. I was worried that USB 3.0 might not be fast enough but Ive been able to record two NDI streams over it. That makes the laptop fan run pretty fast.

This digital drive is fast. We use it for Mac time machine backups.

This is my first SSD so I really cant compare it with anything. however I can tell you that it works great for file storage on my MacBook Pro.
