Notice how theyre selling like hotcakes. Search for the other product postings of these, theres a reason: Overheating under load when in a USB 3.0 port. I bought a 2-pack, used them for a month, both prone to getting VERY HOT. Finally one overheated & died WHILE IDLE.

Two of the 5 USB drives had problems; one could not be formatted and was therefore useless.

These drives are a good value and pretty fast (see below for more info.) They also look nice, although the metal understandably gets scratched from being inserted. My only concern is that they get pretty warm when being used, especially over USB 3.0. They arent burning hot or anything, but Ive never owned a flash drive (metal or otherwise) that did this. (I also find the included Everything But Stromboli lanyard to be kind of strange but thats neither here nor there.) ***Testing info:*** I used the USB FlashBench software to measure the actual performance against the manufacturers claims of 150 MB/s speeds and 15x faster than USB 2.0 (also to detect counterfeits.) On my computer the drives read data at about 141 MB/s and write at 101 MB/s over USB 3.0. On USB 2.0, they read at 29 MB/s and write at 19 MB/s. In other words, theyre about 5x faster over USB 3.0. These speeds are comparable to other fast drives and for the price Im totally happy with that.

These drives are EXCELLENT and they are made by THE TOP BRAND!!!! I NEVER EVER buy anything other than SanDisk!!! I LOVE THIS BRAND and i will NEVER EVER buy any other brand!! 1. BEWARE of FAKE brands that try to use names that sound similar to SanDisk like something S-Disk or whatever ... they are also being sold here on Amazon. KNOW THE FAKES from the REAL DEAL. 2. One problem i have with these is that they do not work on my new Sabrent 10-port 60W USB 3.x hub. This may be because either the drives are newer or older than the hub is. Incompatible after a while because 1 of these drives DID work 1 time on that same hub. Then after a while of using it, the drive would no longer register on the USB bus and i had to plug it directly into my machine ports instead of the hub. THIS IS OKAY, it is just not perfect. It may be the fault of my hub (a Sabrent brand which i also love) and i am not really too upset at this. IT MAY ALSO be bad USB 3.0 drivers since my motherboard is now 10 years old. THIS IS ALSO OKAY. Just try to use these drives on a newer 3.1 port bus and you should be totally fine. THEIR PERFORMANCE on file copies is VERY FAST on a true USB 3.x port!!! I LOVE THEM!! 3. Another bad caveat is they come in the packages as already formatted in vFAT 2.0 format. THIS IS VERY BAD. YOU WILL want to re-format them before use, using ExFAT format instead (or if you are a Linux or Mac fan, some other good format like XFS, HPFS, ext4, or likewise). I WOULD NEVER FORMAT these or any key drive as NTFS because then you just end up with weird security and ownership/permission issues. ExFAT format is best for Windows users because it allows you to use the ENTIRE FORMATTED size of the drive. WHATEVER SanDisk was thinking when they shipped these out already formatted with VFAT was KINDA STUPID. THAT IS THE ONLY FLAW with these drives! REFORMAT THEM before you use them, with ExFAT format, and you will be one very happy customer!!!

Crystal Disk Mark used to check performance. Read Performance acceptable ( not best in class usb 3.1) @ 130 mb/s Write performance dismal at sub 10 mb/s. I had expected double or triple this speed (20-30mb/s)

If you’re going to use the thumb drive for something quick in and out then this is for you. This thing gets heated up so quick and stays hot. I feel like the heat can melt its own components if you leave it on for more tgan an hour. Could potentially fry your usb port as well.
