Worked well for installing an M.2 NVME drive on my 2014 Mac Mini. With this adapter you can use a regular M.2 NVME drive and not need the Apple-specific drive and adapter. So much cheaper to upgrade your Mac Mini this way.

Had an old MacMini (late) 2014 that was just too tired with its 5,400 RPM 1 TB drive, so decided to get the inexpensive Sintech M.2 NGFF NVMe SSD adapter and a Crucial 1 TB SSD NVME SSD (as it was on sale).

A standard NVMe SSD Samsung with this adapter works great in an Mac Mini.

It was really easy to install. The kit comes with 2 Phillip screws and a screwdriver for them (no T6) to secure the adapter to the Mac mini and to secure the SSD to the adapter, respectively. The installation was really easy and fast. I used a T6 security torx screwdriver to open the Mac mini, remove the adhesive strip from the adapter, set the adapter into position, press down the adapters conector against the available SATA port (readily visible once you remove the Mac mini bottom lid) and installed the SSD (Crucial P1 500GB). That simple! I booted into macOS High Sierra (does not work with Sierra or prior versions of macOS) and the SSD was immediately recognized and requested to format. When I run the speed test with Blackmagic disk speed test software I get 700 MB/s write and nearly 800 MB/s read. Ive even got to configure it as a fusion drive using the Mac minis factory 1TB HDD! It made my Mac mini late 2014 usable, because it was painfully slow.

I have a 2017 Mac Mini. In order to stay compatible with my iPhone 8 I had to update the OS. This rendered the Mac useless as it would take approx 60 second just to open a window. After adding the 1TB Samsung SSD the Mac is once again a fast computer. Im totally dissappointed with Apple for selling my a computer that killed itself in just over 3 years but Samsung saved the day.

My late 2014 Mac Mini was soooo slow that I stopped using it a few years ago. When I saw this upgrade, I gave it a shot. I added 500GB, and now the machine is fast, really fast. Installation was less than 10 minutes. This Mac is now perfect for my use, no more frustrating delays. I purchased this (on another amazon account) to upgrade a late 2014 Mac mini with Fusion drive. This means that the Mac mini already had a 2.5” SATA drive installed as well as a small caching SSD in the top slot. If you’re going to try this, use the excellent guide at iFixit to see how it’s done, but be aware of a few things:

I have a mac mini 2014. It came only with an HDD, with this device youll be able to dramatically improve the speed of your Mac. As it mention on the description only work for Mac OS HiSierra or up. my hdd failed, so i bought a SATA SSD and a nvM2 SSD, I installed first the OS on the SATA SSD, then I reinstalled the OS on the nvme2 SSD.
