Strathmore Mixed Media Vellum, 5 x 6-7/8 Inches, White, 10 Cards & Envelopes

The Strathmore cards are great for card making, watercolor and calligraphy. Most inks work very well without bleeding. I love the cards, but the box was damaged and some of the envelopes were bent. Because of that, It wasn’t worth returning and I am giving this purchase four stars.

I usually buy the Strathmore watercolor card stock. But based on reviews I decided to give these a try. It may be fine for other mediums, but I wouldn’t recommend for watercolor. No tooth to hold the color, and the colors just don’t look right (I first tried a piece I have painted before, so I know how it should turn out). My mistake. I know vellum is a slick surface, but I’d never painted on it before. Oh well, lesson learned.

Im sure these are great blank cards but I didnt even open the package. They are definitely a cream color, hence the 3 stars across the board.

Watercolors, even very wet washes, work very well on them. Not as good quality as my Arches watercolor paper, but not bad. They will accept some scrubbing, but fibers lift and make lifted passages look a bit muddy. However, if you get in and get out without to much overworking, theyre fine. The 100% rag, cold pressed surface is nice to work on, and having them all cut and scored for folding is really handy.

Love this product! The 10 pack is a perfect count - not too much and not too few for my card making ventures. They are perfectly scored and sized so making watercolor cards is fun and easy. The envelopes provided are a bit flimsy so if you plan to watercolor them, it will work but dip pen calligraphy will spider if you use a sumi ink (I use Dr. Martin or walnut inks to prevent that). Or, I use a higher quality, heavier weight envelope. But the cards are great!!!

It’s a good value for the money. The card stock is not as sturdy as what I like but do able.

I love these high-quality gorgeous blank cards. You can make your own cards inserting any photo or design on the front. I will buy them again!

Ive been buying the 10 packs but Im going through them too fast, time to move up to 50! I love these cards. They are the perfect size for me, and I get to share the finished results with friends and loved ones. I will say they do warp a little if Im not careful about how much water Im using, but they press down just fine. ***Not making any claims to originality with the images attached. Ive been practicing my skills by imitating other peoples much better paintings.

Im a beginner with watercolor so these work for me. I love that they are an off white/ivory and the perfect backdrop for a beautiful card
