Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SN550 NVMe Internal SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8Gb/s, M.2 2280, 3D NAND, Up to 2,400 MB/s - WDS100T2B0C

Not sure if this is a WD or Mac issue but this drive does not work as an backup drive for MacOS Big Sur. It will do one backup but after that it cannot be accessed by Time Machine until you force eject and reconnect it, sometimes only a few of these cycles. Had I known how much of a hassle this was I would have bought a different SSD. I havent been able to find a solution on mac or WD forums.

Best in that range. Worth it.

Bought this in 2020 to add the capacity to Pc as additional storage… only this failed two years later (2022). Comparing to my boot drive which still runs 840 EVO, this WD drive is complete trash. Never getting another Wester Digital product again

Installed with a heatsink as my case runs a bit warm. Stressing the drive with a heatsink yields max temps of 46C.
