This was my first experience in dealing with with a crashed hard drive. I had a 3 year old Dell Inspiron 5570 laptop in which the hard drive was constantly running at 100% because of bloatware I couldnt turn off or remove. The drive finally refused to boot up, and I needed a quick fix. My son suggested I go for a SSD rather than a mechanical drive, so I opted for this one. Several discussion boards said my motherboard was limited to 512K, otherwise I would have bought the 1TB version of this. The SSD arrived on time, and 5 minutes later, I had it in my laptop (previously opened to remove the existing HD). I had made a USB boot thumb drive, and windows was quickly installed and it works great! No real setup required other than the usual windows step-by-step stuff. I made no BIOS changes at this point. Everything runds much faster than before, as I had hoped and expected.

It was very easy to install and get working I was able to transfer windows 10, discord and Stellaris on here in only a few minutes. When I booted up Stellaris it ran faster then when it was on my hdd and old m.2. The storage capacity is great for holding a few big titles and other small games.

Déjà je ne mattendais pas à un objet si petit ! Installation sans trop de soucis sur une CM Asus B250 prime. Il manque juste la vis pour fixer le SSD. Un peu de bricolage et cest parti.

I really like WDs products and have found them to be very reliable so I bought one of their SN550 Blue M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs which I knew would give a hugely significant performance boost (see images for comparison: before and after) as before I had a 1TB WD HDD which came with my Dell Inspiron 5570. The storage capacity (250GB) of this new SSD is perfect for my needs as I dont store any of my personal data on it (it is purely for the operating system and programs alone). I use the original 1TB WD HDD that came with my laptop for all of my personal data as it has a 2.5 HDD bay and also an M.2 slot so I can have dual drives. You can opt for a bigger version of this model such as 500GB or 1TB if you require more space.

September 2021 I purchased a Western Digital SN 550 2 TB solid state drive and enclosure. It worked well for about 18 months and then started to malfunction. No problem I thought, WD provides a 5 year warranty. Man was I wrong…
