So far this new hard drive is working great for my ps3.

Did what it was suppose to

This worked perfectly. It fit right in the existing hard drive tray, literally took less than 5 minutes to swap out. The trick as others have said is downloading the PS3 update to a USB drive and uploading it to the new hard drive.

This wasnt formatted correctly for a direct ps3 installation. Luckily I had the equipment to get it formatted correctly.

The product was simple to install, however, something was corrupted within the HDD. Once the system recognized that an HDD had been installed, it stated there was not enough room to transfer less than 12GB of data from the flash drive to the HDD with 500GB of storage. The manufacture date was in 2010, Im not sure if the product could have been damaged in the last 6 years or what the deal was. Sending back tomorrow.

Bought 2 new drives, received refurbished ones.

This was actually a good deal. My PS3 hard drive broke down. So I decided to get this WD 500 GB. Installation was really easy I was able to play my PS3 & watch Netflix again within minutes. I have to be honest that some of the previous reviews were really helpful in terms of installation. Overall a good product so far. Im giving a 4 starts review.

My original PS3 Slim HDD stopped working (it had a good run), so I bought this as a replacement and the system works great again.
