I had just read a book that was interesting but wasn’t very well written, so after I finished that book I really wanted to find a series that I could really appreciate, and this book series was it. I have read this book and I’m in the process of reading the second book, and by what I have written so far it is much better written then the book I mentioned before, the storyline is also very interesting and creative. I am very glad that I found and read these books and look forward to reading the rest of the series. Thank you Rachel for a clean and wonderful read.

Excellent writer. A cross between Lord of the Rings & Chronicles of Narnia, but in another world setting with shades of the Kingdom. It was hard to put it down. I really enjoyed the suspense, mystery and characters. Starting to read book #2. Thank you!

I enjoyed this novel very much. Ms. Thomson paints beautiful scenes on which fanciful adventures unfold. Characters you can love or hate (or sometimes love to hate); mystical scenery; plots that weave themselves in and out of each other -- What more could one want? This was the first Ive read of her, but it will not be the last!

This was a quick read, it did not weigh me down. I think we are all intrigued by the unseen and unknown. The author wove in the spiritual battles of darkness and light beautifully into the lives of the characters. She also made clear that each one had a choice to make that would determine their future. Im looking forward to reading the next in the series. I was able to connect with the characters and want to know what happens next in their lives!

This story reminds me a lot of Lord of the Rings. Fantasy, legends and deep beliefs in things that people make harder to believe in than they should! Maggie receives a scroll from a dying man to be delivered to Pravick; a place where she will find the one person that can read and protect it. The people, dangers and adventures encountered along the way make this read so good!

As soon as I finish this review, I am getting the next book in the series! This is the first book I have read by Rachel Thomson, and it was an excellent read. The way she flipped back and forth from the writings of the prophet to the present time of the story was very engaging. She changed styles from poetry to dialogue to third person narrative and back again so fluidly that the story was one of the richest reading experiences I have had in a long time.

I liked the way the story came together and how they fought a war that was not over stretched to make story longer. The story was enjoyable. Plan to read the other books
