> 3 dayI enjoyed this book. It reminds me a bit of C.S. Lewis Chronicles of Narnia in its use of allegory, most of which is pretty obvious. It was a good entertaining read and I plan to buy the remaining books in the series.

> 3 dayRead it in one night in between putting my newborn son back to sleep as he woke for another feeding or to get his diaper changed. As tired as Ive been for the past three days since he was born, I couldnt put the book down. Happy and sad that Im done reading the first book, happy because now I can get some sleep :) and I get to read the second one now and sad because I am done reading it.

> 3 dayWant a little fresh breeze of beauty and courage? I read this trilogy curled up by the Christmas tree, on the bus crisscrossing Jerusalem, even walking home down our very steep and winding road, bursting into a grin at the last line. I keep thinking of them as songs for the weary heart. I needed an oasis and a fresh inrush of courage, and this time it came through Rachels writing, with all its bracing beauty.

> 3 dayThis book was an unexpected surprise. Im finding myself enjoying fantasy stories more and more these days, and I especially love those with Christian elements. A few times I thought some things couldve been made clearer. I was confused at times by the ancient history of this storyworld, but perhaps I was looking for the parallels and symbolism to our world too much. Overall, I really enjoyed following these characters on their first adventure and immediately went and purchased the second book in the series.

Greater than one weekIts hard to find good Christian fantasy. This one was a great intro to Thomsons talent, and is now one of my favs alongside Lawhead and Dekker. Looking forward to getting into book 2! On a personal note, I found this book a great encouragement and reminder of the real-life spiritual realm which we dont often-enough recognize.

> 3 dayEnjoyed the theme and writing style. Good mix of fiction with an underlying presence of the spiritual forces that we dont see as well as a reminder that we all choose to follow either good or evil.

Never without a book
Greater than one weekI loved it! Started reading, put on hold and forgot to get back to it for several books. When I got back to it, I wondered why I put it on hold in the first place. This is a Christian-based fantasy novel, but it is not in your face as it focuses more on the good vs. evil than a lot of scripture quoting in this book. The characters are well developed and engaging. Once hooked, you keep reading because you have to know how things turn out. The author provided a satisfactory ending in the event you dont want to go on to the next book. I plan to purchase the next book, as I need to see how things eventually turn out. I did find myself going back to the beginning and other sections to review what happened as the story unfolds. I like that because it means I have to pay attention to fully follow the story.

> 3 dayIf you like Kristen Britains Green Rider series , then this will appeal to you. The story follows the tried and tested format with the main character Maggie, an orphan with A tragic past traveling through difficult situations to deliver a scroll. There is the promise of the return of the king who had been previously driven away and has become somewhat of a mythical figure. There are several characters who are described as Gifted with extraordinary abilities who aid In the fight against darkness and its allies . There are many similarities in this book , to many other fantasy stories. However this book is well written ,and the author is able to hold your attention.
