I got two AXE16000s with one as the main router, another is the AiMesh node using 10G wired backhaul and an AXE11000 node with 2.5G wired backhaul. Strangely, in the web GUI’s Network Map tab, the 2.5G port link doesn’t show up in the Ethernet Ports activity table. I disconnected/reconnected the link from the 2.5G port to the AXE11000 and it still doesn’t appear in the table. Another issue is that I can’t seem to get Ookla-tested wired speeds of more than 2.6Gbps (upload/download) out of either of the 10G ports on the AXE16000 main and node. I tested the wired speeds with Thunderbolt 3 10Gbe adapters to the PC from two different manufacturers and got the same result. However, when I hooked up my 10Gbps broadband link directly to either adapter, wired speeds jumped to over 9.3Gbps. it seems that AiProtection is the culprit. When I turned it off, wired Okla-tested speeds return to the 8.9-9.2Gbps range. Turn AiProtection on again and it drops to the 2.6Gbps range. The speed drop wasn’t this severe on the RT-AX89X with AiProtection turned on and I still could get 8-9.1Gbps wired speeds on its SFP+ or 10GBase-T ports. According to a longtime firmware developer for Asus routers who iperf-tested the 10G interfaces, this is a CPU/NAT limitation on the AXE16000s part. Had no such issue with the RT-AX89X’s SFP+ or 10GBase-T ports. As for wireless, download speeds (5G bands) were only on par or slightly better than the RT-AX89X’s (+1Gbps range) with upload speeds in the 400-700Mbps range. Also experienced random disconnections for my devices (Connected without internet indicated) and a subsequent inability to reconnect to any of the 4 bands until I turn off/on the Wifi function on the devices a couple of times. And random times when there is simply no internet until a minute or two later. Reported these issues along and provided the usual data logs to Asus Tech Support before I returned both units.

I cannot get any wireless device to stay on the network for more than a few hours. It even happens when my laptop is 10 ft apart from the router in an unobstructed view. I cannot work from home and my kid cannot play like this. Im super disappointed that this router just doesnt work. Im returning it immediately just a couple of days after I set it up.

So I feel this thing is overpriced like everyone else has said. I didnt have a wifi device that supports the 6 gigahertz band so I cant say much for it. I have a asus 68u router and I feel it did just as good or even better than this thing. The 5 gigahertz band kept dropping in and out or just not even show up. Ive changed multiple settings in it to try to get this thing stable but got no where. But the big thing for my setup for internet is using a hotspot connected to the router and it would drop out randomly where the 68u never did it as often or at all. To make the thing reconnect is reset everything and then go into the settings of the router before it would remotely even think about reconnecting. Sometimes I have to reset the settings just so it would start to work. Just the down sides of being a early adopter. Im sure it will get better but I cant afford for my internet to keep dropping out since my house is a smart home I need it to work. I cant justify buying a dang near 600 dollar router that does worse than my 100 dollar router.

    Greater than one week

If your buying this for 6ghz like I originally did be aware that your pc has to have specific network card and not all 6ghz pcie cards work, I bought this for the 6ghz internet and was never able to connect I have a motherboard compatible for wifi 6E the X570 aorus elite ax with the anntenas it comes with, which is supposed to connect to 6ghz but my network never appeared on networks found therefore this router was just the same as my old spectrum router the difference in speed is literally the same, only thing I’d recommend this for is for people who have bad wifi signal because they are to far from the router anyone who uses Ethernet no point in upgrading for $600

I bought this with high hopes to use with my soon-to-commissioned fiber Internet connection, but I must have got a junk piece of hardware because it constantly ran about 400ms to 600ms latency internally, with constant spikes to 1500ms latency/ping (and thus to all devices which connected to it). This is a problem with the GT-AXE16000 itself, NOT my network connection because (a) my ISP modem runs 25ms latency to it, and (b) my ancient Netgear R7000 runs 25ms to 26ms latency when connected to the same modem.

Looks good but one thing. If you’re paying this much for anything no matter what the product is. One of the antennas won’t stay in place which is not a huge problem and easy to miss but other then that so far it’s been great compared to what I had but can seem to control or see who is using my WiFi unless I’m at home on the WiFi itself to block or limit who using it when I’m not there. I have 1000 kbs through ATT fiber optic so I should never drop anything but when it dose it’s only for a few seconds not minutes like before. I’m not a tech nerd so might need to optimize something but overall I’m satisfied so far but still have half the house to connect as well. Time will tell I guess.

The 1261.10Mbps picture represents a WiFi speed test from my laptop. The 1423.33Mbps picture represents a wired speed test from the router. This thing is a beast.

The trailblazing ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 is the world"s very first quad-band WiFi 6E gaming router, delivering incredible speeds of up to 16000 Mbps. We"ve unlocked the full potential of the four frequency bands — 2.4 GHz, two 5 GHz bands, and 6 GHz to bring you the fastest speeds possible.
