The story doesnt hold up as it once did and the camp is over the top for 2015. The stars are for the great quality print in HD. I bought this to see if I should buy the expensive TV series on blu ray. Now, I will pass. Im sorry, Adam West is the worlds biggest over actor! I will watch the series if it comes on TV, mostly to see the best Batmobile and killer theme song. This movie has all the best villains and for casual fans like me, is all you need. I have to laugh at 50 year old men who regard this as cult fans. I know a few! They know all the villains and every cameo that pokes out the window on Batman & Robins wall scaling! To sum up the review, If you want the best episode, here it is! Just enough camp and enough of Adam West to handle! They did a great job restoring it for HD!

I cant say anything bad about this 60s version of Batman! It was good for what it was meant to be and thats a light-hearted take on this character. While I have not seen the DVD version, I have seen this film on TV many times! Adam West is great as his version has influenced other versions of Batman including the darker versions with his stiff seriousness (though todays Batman isnt as funny). Burt Ward is the trusty sidekick and suitable for that era as Robin. That version, however, wouldnt work today as the relationship between Batman and Robin (which is often conflicted as it is cooperative) is actually more believable. As for the villians, they are the best of the best. With three actors that are no longer with us in the form of Ceasar Romero (The Joker), Frank Gorshin (The Riddler/who couldve easily played Jack Nicholsons Joker if he had been young in 1989) and Burgess Meridith (more popularly known as Mickey in the Rocky boxing films)! Lee Meridewith was okay as Catwoman but Julie Newmar and, later, Eartha Kitt were DEFINITELY better! One thing thats a personal note that Id like to get off my chest and thats the misconception that Adam West was the original Batman! WRONG! And even West himself will tell you that the character had been around since the late 30s and was NOTHING like the West version. In fact, the early Batman was more like the one we see now than the campier version. The one that West portrays came about due to the comics code that was implemented in the 50s to keep the U.S. Government from censoring them! Still, back to the movie, it is a fun trip down the 60s and I am sure the bonus track will be very enlightening to hear from Adam West and Burt Ward. On a final note, I will give this version of Batman credit for one thing. If not for the popularity of this version, the Batman that we know now may have never had the chance to be seen! In fact, even the creators the excellent Batman: The Animated Series admitted to being big fans of this version of Bats and even had Adam West as a guest star in the episode entitled Beware Of The Grey Ghost. I should also note that eppy is available on Vol. 1 of Batman: The Animated Series. They also patterned a lot of the humor in that series from this version of Batman (only not as campy). So, to Mr. West and to Mr. Ward, I say this to you. THANK YOU FOR THIS VERSION AND WHILE MANY DARK KNIGHT FANS FROWN AT THIS VERSION, THIS IS ONE DARK KNIGHT FAN THAT APPLAUDS AND APPRECIATES IT! ;)

This is the first single non combo Blu Ray I ever bought and I have to agree with commentary that nobody truly does campy as well as the classic Batman. Other that Jack Nicholson in 1989 Batman this movie has my favorite version of The Joker and for sure my favorite version of The Penquin. The way Blu ray sets up the special features differently from regular DVDs still takes some getting use to for me but I like both versions of commentary giving insight on the films and all the other extras on the batmobile and stuff. The story in simple as Joker, Penquin, Riddler and Catwoman team up for their greatest crime evil. Like an episode of the original Star Trek series where aliens dehydrated the Enterprise crew into crystals the criminals dehydrate the world leaders of a fictional version of United Nations into different colored power dust to hold ransom. The movie puts all the bat vechiles in the movie such as the bat copter, bat boat, bat cycle. Between their headquarters above a bar at the docks and Penquins submarine base the crooks seem to remain one step ahead of the dynamic duo till the very end of the film and come closer to destroying the cape crusaders than they ever did in the TV series. The only think that would make this movie perfect would of been if it came along late enough to of had Yvonne Craig star as her Batgirl character in it. She was the only person I missed watching the film.

My kids started watching the old Batman shows on television and really liked them. We decided to watch this movie and they think its great. Adults really see how hokey it is, but it is funny because the writers intend for you to realize it. Batman and Robin make off-handed comments that make fun of themselves and some of the comments are really funny. Children seem to like it for the action. And the best part is that the language is appropriate for them and the storylines and characters are not as dark as the newer movies so they dont get scared. This is a great family movie.....

This is THE ORIGINAL. Intellectual humor, over the top comedy, total silliness and campy story lines. No dark demonic Batman here, just the real thing. After watching it, I remembered why I loved Batman so much as a kid! It was one of the most wordy shows out there and intelligence was required to get most of the jokes, it actually got me looking words up as a child! Nothing like the original series, sad how it has gotten debauched with dark violent themes. Nothing quite like the REAL THING.

I grew up on Adam wests Batman and still love him best❣️This movie is amazing and cheesier than a bowl of Mac n cheese! I personally love the camp factor of the 60s Batman and feel privileged to have met Adam west at a book signing. If you dont have time for the series, this movie will give you a hefty helping of it.

While this is pretty much a bare-bones DVD release, for me it is an entertaining guilty pleasure. When this first was released in the theatres in 1966, I was a 5 year old Batman obsessed kid. I remember my wonderful twin great aunts taking me to the movies to see this cheese-fest. While its no technical marvel, it is a very fun addition to the 60s TV show era of the Batman legacy. And for just a few dollars, its well worth re-living the the memories associated with it.
