Update: customer service contacted me about this review. They kept sending the same instructions that didnt work the first time. I tried to explain which step I was on when I was having trouble, but they just sent the same manual again. I dont think they even read my messages. Anyone can accidentally get a defective product and its no ones fault. However, if you arent willing to try to resolve the problem, what is the point of having a customer service department? I have several smart plugs in my home and I have never had an issue connecting them to the wifi. I mistaken thought that these would be easier to use because they are advertised as no app. There are several steps that you have to go through and each one is ridiculously difficult. I never could get them to work. What a waste of time and money!

Kinda sketchy to set up.. but they work fine.. they make a noise everytime they are turned on or off.. it might trigger some ocd issues haha

Awkward length compared to my round smart plug. Wish there was a manual override for non-smart phone user. Difficult to set up. I had to try several times, following instructions. Has ability to place a timer on plug.

They do work, some of the time. Had a really hard time getting them to connect to my dedicated 2.5 router. Takes a very long time for some of them to ever connect. I tried the NoApp option as well as both Broadlink and IHP apps. One unit that was disconnected from its power source, lost all of its programing. Could never get it to reconnect. Finally have given up and am trying another brand that I have a much better success rate with (Meross).

I bought 4 of these to control Christmas lights in 2021. After Christmas I boxed them up with the other Christmas stuff. 2022 Christmas setup they all will not connect. Ive reset them, removed and reinstalled software, followed instructions on Youtube, everything. They will connect to my router, but Alexa just will not accept them. They were very easy to setup in 2021. Not so much anymore. One season product. Im going to try another product.

What i liked the most, was that it doesnt take up so much space on the wall outlet. The other similar versions are usually a little bigger and makes the second outlet difficult to use with another 3 prong device. I think the reset button being on the front, is much more handier for reconfiguration and evaluating the state of the device. I do worry with the outlet being on the side of the wall plug is it could put strain on it and weaken the outlet over time. However, with that said the connection felt very secure, so that is just a concern, nothing factual. Configuration, is about as easy as the app variants, you still have to go through a process, but the process is simple and makes sense.. who are you, what you want to call it, and what network you want it on.

I wanted to like this product. After all, Im into Smart Home stuff and have quite a collection of working smart things (even one of those Smarthings). First of all this was advertised as Not needing another app to clutter up my cell phone, but step 2 of the installation instructions (after powering on the unit) was to download the app to my phone. WHAT? Well, ok I can deal with that for the other promised benefits of easy to install and all. Unfortunately, it wasnt that either. I tried all of my tricks to getting recalcitrant smart devices to tow the mark, but could not get them to even respond to any connection request. Fed up, I sent them packing back to Amazon (thank you to Amazon for their really good return procedures). I may have been having a bad day, but these things were not ready for prime time. Save yourself some time, money and frustration and get something else.

We used the smart plugs with the Google Nest. They work well, but the installation requires registration with BroadLink, then with the Google Home app.
