> 24 hourAfter much research, I decided on the Faber Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils (120 set). Although I am not a professional artist, but a hobby card maker, I find these pencils to be an excellent quality! Blending or building colors on one another works very well and using the white/cream pencils to create some highlights work great too. I understand paper/cardstock types can make a big difference when using pencils -- something with more tooth is preferable. The pencils stay fairly sharp after several uses, nice quality lead and barrel, and they fit in your hand nicely as well.

> 24 hourI started creating a swatch chart with my new set of 120 Polychromos pencils and wrote an email to Faber Castell informing them that I had received two Pine Green pencils and no Chrome Oxide Green. I was provided the opportunity to send the pencils to Faber-Castell for replacement and told that Faber-Castell USA does not sell or distribute through Amazon, nor are we affiliated with them. The pencil set was sourced through Topaz Worldwide, which returns a Page Not Found error when I click the link in the Orders record.

> 24 hourOK, what can I say? I previously purchased the 36 pencil set and loved them. Christmas came along and this was a present. Im doing the happy dance. I gulp when I consider the price. Having all the colors is great for me. Ive been playing around with them. So many colors and a neat array of warm and cool grays. They blend well, but I think that depends on the paper and personal preference. Personally, I will not go back to waxy color pencils, I will stick with the oil based. Sharpen easily enough, no breakage yet, long points and short. I have a lot of color drawings lined up. I still prefer graphite, but color is great too. They are round, comfortable and beautifully printed. There are some colors nearly the same.

> 24 hourThis is one of the best color pencil sets in the world. These pencils are very high quality. Compared to cheaper pencils, these apply evenly to paper. This is a great set to use if you need lot of shades to draw people. My set arrived wrapped in multiple protective layers and was in perfect shape on arrival.

> 24 hourI really like how these pencils work - I prefer the harder and sharper tip compared to the Prisma Premiers. They are strong and easy to work with. But I am disappointed about the color selection in this box. They are not representative of the full range of available colors (box of 120). The selection for greens and pinks/purples are low, and reds are overrepresented. I miss a darker green like forest, pine or juniper, and a light magenta, crimson or violet. And reds are overrepresented, to the point that I don’t see a relevant difference between dark red (225) and middle cadmium red (217) or pale geranium lake (121) and deep scarlet red (219) or even pompeian and venetian red (191-190). I regret that I didn’t wait until I was ready to buy the complete set of 120 pencils. Adding a picture of the back of the box displaying the colors and the available colors on a sheet of swatches the for the full 120 box.

> 24 hourThis set is GORGEOUS! I am assuming that if you are looking at this set you are already sold on the virtues of the Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencil. So I wont be discussing their rich color, their creaminess, sturdiness, or that they are oh so worth the price. Instead, I will review this 150 color set. (Pictured) They come in a rectangular tin, which isnt as sturdy as Id like it to be. It would also be nice if it came with a solid way to keep the top closed. But then, you pop it open, and the beauty of the set knocks your socks off. The pinks, reds, blues, grays, greens, etc ... so vivid. No color is repeated. The shades are varied enough to tell the difference between each one. (Pictured) It was properly shipped. None of my pencils are broken, and all of the tips are perfectly sharpened. There are three trays, and each tray has an elastic on either end for easy lifting. (Pictured) The bottom of each tray has been lined with foam (pictured) making the tray more sturdy. The pencils do not easily pop out. (Attempted picture) Im so glad I own this set. It will give me hours of joy. And you too.

> 24 hourBest colored pencils ever! Although the price of these may cause some sticker shock among some people, I can stress enough when I say to just invest in these pencils. You wont be sorry. The colors are vibrant! Unlike cheaper colored pencils, they sharpen the first time, every time; so theres no wasted pencil or having a stub by the time you are done sharpening. The pencil lead doesnt flake, is super smooth, and they are a joy to color with. I bought a set for my 12 year old daughter and turned around and got myself a set! Ive tried other brands; from the low end to the higher end and nothing compares to these pencils! Do yourself a favor and get these!

> 24 hourI purchased this set about a month ago and have been really pleased. I use them for adult coloring books. I do a lot of coloring and the rich colors and smooth lay down are amazing. These are outstanding artist-quality pencils. But Im not an artist, so dont trust me - instead, watch this great YouTube video from Lachri reviewing Polychromos pencils versus Prismacolors: [...]. Its 12 minutes long, but really worthwhile to watch - not only is Lisa reviewing the pencils, but you also get to speed-watch her creating side-by-side versions of artwork using each brand. I figure you might as well spend some time learning about these before laying down your money. After all, youre probably planning on spending a lot of quality time with these. Lisa convinced me before I bought the pencils that I would be really happy with them. And I am! Pros: Amazingly rich colors Leads dont break Sharpen to fine point Blend and layer beautifully Tin is sturdy and snaps closed securely Good color selection I have been able to blend colors really easily, so this set has waaay more colors than 36. I like the traditional artists color names, printed on the pencils. Total of 120 Polychromos colors are available. Cons: I could say expense, but you get what you pay for! Actually surprised by reasonable price now that I know their quality. Obviously a set of 36 pencils is a little less convenient for carrying around! Case protects them, though. Colors will smudge slightly if your hand rubs over artwork very much. In spite of good color selection, 36 pencil set does not have something like sky blue. Some colors in the tin are almost exactly the same, or extremely close, to my eye. There are no lighter flesh colors, just browns and soft, dull reds. Solutions: To prevent smudging, put a piece of tracing or copy paper under your hand as needed. But usually smudging is not a problem. A plastic artists eraser, such as Staedtler Mars, usually removes smudging or stray marks. I ordered a couple of flesh tones from Dick Blick. (DBs prices arent bad, just no free Prime shipping!) I put away a couple of almost redundant colors and store my new flesh tones in the tin. Again, Im really enjoying these and hope you will too. Cheers.

> 24 hourThis is not my usual brand of colored pencils. After watching a video where these were featured, I wanted to give them a try. These pencils are really nice to work with. Beautiful pigment.
