> 3 dayReceived some unexpected birthday money, so I finally took the plunge and splurged on a set of Polychromos pencils. I received them about five days after I ordered. They shipped from India and I actually panicked thinking I was going to get a fake set, but lo and behold, they are the real deal. Package was triple (or more) wrapped in bubble wrap, factory box was sealed. The tin was still in the shrink wrap and undamaged. Inside, a few pencils were chipped, which was expected and not excessive. Overall, I am thrilled. When swatching the pencils, I noticed the extreme smoothness. Someone commented that these pencils are not as buttery smooth as Prismacolors, but I have to disagree as theyre the smoothest pencils to color with that Ive ever had my hands on! The few I needed to sharpen only needed a few turns of the sharpener to get a very sharp point. I will be coloring a page this weekend to officially try them out. A big thanks to the seller for how fast it was shipped out and for the excellent protective packaging.

> 3 dayOur teacher recommended it. Seems a bit expensive. But totally worth it. Beautiful color. Very smooth and blends well. It makes me love my drawing even more.

> 3 dayOk polychromos are expensive. I wanted to try a set and this was by far the best price Id seen. I just dont get all the hype for these. They are a bit thicker pencil which I found oddly awkward to handle. They have good color but I found them more difficult to work with than my other brands of pencils (some cheaper, some on par pricewise). I myself would definitely not spend the $$$ on these again. I recommend trying Fantasia, Derwent, Staedtler Ergosofts, or Arteza (heck even the Amazon Basics). If you do want to try these, go for the cheapest small set. They maybe wonderful for pros who have magical touch in using them but for I just dont see it. I also found them difficult to sharpen well and only with a little hand sharpener nut still couldnt get the fine sharp tip and they seemed very fragile when I did get a good point for detail coloring. Very disappointed considering all the hype.

> 3 dayThese color pencils are great. The pigments are nice & vibrant. Theyre easy to sharpen without lots of splintering or breaking. Coloring with them whether using soft or hard pressure theres not a lot of crumbing. I received them as described, great condition. I received them quickly which was great & Theyre a great value. Recommend for sure, thank you!!

> 3 dayMy daughter is in advanced art and the teacher recommended prismacolor art pencils. The color selection is great but the leads are not bonded to the wood casing causing them to break and fall out. Also they tend to have a lot of wax blooming when trying to blend colors as well as some fading with time. We ended up buying some Faber-Castell Polychromos after trying prismacolor and my daughter loves the way they blend and their quality is outstanding as well as being colorfast so little to no fading after years of exposure. You can find art pencils in a lower price range but I feel it is worth paying a little extra for a better quality product. Even the art teacher has commented on how vivid the colors are and how much nicer my daughters drawings have gotten compared to her previous works. My daughter hasnt told her that she is using the Faber-Castell Polychromos now instead of what was recommended. Proof that the quality of the Faber-Castell Polychromos are better.

> 3 dayI really like how these pencils work - I prefer the harder and sharper tip compared to the Prisma Premiers. They are strong and easy to work with. But I am disappointed about the color selection in this box. They are not representative of the full range of available colors (box of 120). The selection for greens and pinks/purples are low, and reds are overrepresented. I miss a darker green like forest, pine or juniper, and a light magenta, crimson or violet. And reds are overrepresented, to the point that I don’t see a relevant difference between dark red (225) and middle cadmium red (217) or pale geranium lake (121) and deep scarlet red (219) or even pompeian and venetian red (191-190). I regret that I didn’t wait until I was ready to buy the complete set of 120 pencils. Adding a picture of the back of the box displaying the colors and the available colors on a sheet of swatches the for the full 120 box.

> 3 dayThe reason I could give overall rating only 2 stars evenif there are so many reviews saying how good they are is that, it disappointed me a lot. In general, yes, the color pigments looks good, as well as its blending and layering ability. Its durable seems to be good too. I have not yet tried to sharpen them so I dont know the result on this yet. Nevertheless, to mine, not all the color is that quality. I can hardly get a color from the light color (have to lay quite a number of layers before I can notice the colors), a few of them are scratchy. The worst of all goes to gold color, with copper color comes second. I can hardly get color, and they are so scratchy too. From what you can see in the picture, it is what I get after a high pressure, and for more than 10 layers. The green-gold color is much better, with only light pressure, and for only a couple of layers, I get that such a nice vibrant color. The biggest problem to me is its smells! I have read some other reviews said that they smells very nice. Thats not true to mine! Mine one smells so bad. Kind of strong toxically and chemically bad. I have to get some cloth over my nose and mouth when I try these pencils (and hold my breath too) or I feel dizzy and get sick. I try to leave the box open for a day and they still smell the same (and the smell fill out my room completely.) I wanted to leave it more days, but I cant stand the smells in my room either, and I cannot just leave them outside my house, unattended, right? So, practically, I cannot use them because I cannot stand its smells! (After all the money I paid!!) I am not an artist. I am just a person who like coloring. Polychromos is the first artist grade color pencils I have ever bought and ever tried. So, for its price, I did hesitate a lot whether to buy it or not. And so, I cannot give more stars that this. I had a very high expectation, so I am very disappointed and very sad for the quality (and smells!) I dont know whether I was unlucky to get a defect one, or is it just like that normally, as I said this is the first time I tried it. The only thing I can say from what I get is that its not worth the money I paid. So, for those that are like me (never use it before), maybe it is wiser to buy one pencil (from open stock), or buy a small set first, to try out whether its right for you.

Greater than one weekThese have quickly become my favorite pencils. I have purchased at least nine different brands of colored pencils. These were the most expensive, but work the best as far as I can tell. My favorite part is how they glide across the page, leaving lovely color. Currently I’m just using pencils for adult coloring books and some with intricate designs. These are overkill as far as price just for coloring, but I do plan to use these for my own drawings at some point. I will point out, that because these pencils are creamy and soft, they are not the best for intricate designs because you can’t get a sharp firm point like you can with other color pencils.
