20-12-2024I have numerous brands of colored pencils ranging from low to high both in quality and price; however, Faber-Castell pencils are by far my most favored. I prefer oil based pencils because the bloom from wax based pencils can cause issues. FC pencils cover very well with few layers. Layering and blending is quite easy as well. The color quality of FC pencils can not be beat. I did create my own color chart that fits in the lid of the tin for ease of access and to see the true color of each pencil.

> 3 dayMy first trial with these pencils was a portrait of my granddaughter. The pencils are incredible for blending and achieving delicate skin tones. The strong colors easily layered as well. They are so smooth! They exceeded my expectations in every way. I LOVE these pencils.

Greater than one weekThe pencils are creamy and vibrant. Experiment with different papers to find your best result. If you have a problem with sharpening then, clean out the pencil sharpener each time and you should have no problem.

> 3 daySo I bought the gold fabers 12 pack before this and they are a bit better and a fraction of the price. Although w the (PC’s) you do get a thicker and creamy smoothness... I still think the goldfabers give these a run for the money. Either are great! But I’ll most likely be purchasing the 24 pack of goldfabers instead.

20-12-2024Ok, to help out some confused reviews, I just received my 120 pk of FC Polychromos color pencils, and they look fine to me and works the same way. As another review said, yes, FC changed up their packaging since I had the 36 count pencils back in 2017 where it had the old design, but these are the latest ones. If you arent so sure, go to a local art store if you could, and you would see the FC color pencils now include the barcode and Made in Germany label. The fact that some people are screaming fraud just for a change companies do after a while is beyond me. If you are still unsure, or screaming, about it, just by it off of Blicks website itself. To answer another review saying these pencils dont blend, they actually do. These are OIL-BASED pencils, so you need OIL-BASED materials and tools to help it blend smoothly. I have the 36 counts from before, so when I tested them with water, of course it didnt blend. When I finally got mineral spirits for them at a store, thats when the blending works better. The watercolor FC pencils of course will blend well with WATER, but these wont be the same way. Remember this so you can buy mineral spirits along with these. You will only use a little since they go a long way. As for the chipping, it usually happens with the packaging. You would get it from any other place, and the same thing will happen. Not going to knock them down for it. Hope this is helpful to some.

21-12-2024What can I say about polychromos other than they are by far one of the best colored pencils that Ive tried. They go on smoothly and blend exceptionally well. The price is high, but the quality of what you get makes it well worth it. No wax bloom like you get with prismacolor pencils as they are oil based and just glide across the page, and you dont have to press hard to get a solid coat of color. Highly recommend these!
