Infant Optics DXR-8 Add-on Camera (Not Compatible with DXR-8 PRO)

We bought this for our first born, have used it for the last two years without issue and have loved it! We purchased a second camera for our twins this summer. The added camera was easy to set up, however, it stopped connecting to the monitor after about 2 months. I contacted customer service and notified them that I went through all their troubleshooting and still could not get the second camera to connect. Their customer service representative walked me through the process of returning the camera and sent me a new one, free of charge. It was honestly the most wonderful customer service experience I have had. The new camera is working perfectly and the representative I worked with even followed up to see if that fixed our problem! Highly recommend this product and company!

We purchased this as a second camera for our Infant Optics DXR-8. It’s very easy to add cameras with this system. The picture and sound quality is excellent, and we can easily keep an eye on the kids via the monitor from all parts of house, including the basement. The range even includes our back patio. The battery life is much better than our previous monitor, which always needed to be plugged in after an hour or so. We did have an issue with the night vision degrading significantly after almost a year of use. However, the Infant Optics customer service rep I worked with was very understanding and replaced both our cameras, even the one we had lost the receipt for. After going to battle with a different manufacturer over our last monitor, I have to say it was a breath of fresh air to have a company simply do the right thing. We’re very satisfied with our purchase.

I really love this camera. The night vision on it is great as this is what we see the most. During the day when the lights are on in my kids rooms the picture quality is really great it shows the colors of the crib sheets and other objects well. Having multiple children i love that there is a scan setting and every 10 seconds or so it switches rooms thus allowing overnight observation of all rooms. It does have the talk back feature which can be utilized but we do not very often unless we are playing around. we have not tried out the different lenses but will shortly be switching out to the wide view lens. Overall we LOVE this camera, definitely worth the money. it also does not run off of wifi which means it can’t be hacked (bug plus for us) and the battery life has on average lasted 6-8 hours or so (this is hard to say as im not always super close when it dies) the volume can also be turned up fairly loud. We really love the infant optics products. Another added bonus to all infant optics products is their customer service is out of this world amazing! My parent unit quit working and they replaced and had the new unit to me within 2 days of shipping the old one. They are very friendly and even after receiving the new parent unit they ensured to email me to check that everything was working appropriately and I didn’t have any dither needs (this was awesome)! I will continue to buy their products and I am constantly recommending them to friends!

we originally purchased a monitor and camera for our first child. We then bought another camera. SO easy to add and the monitor has 2 settings for multiple cameras, 1) you can select the OK button to switch between the cameras or 2) press and hold OK to enable a scan mode and the monitor will automatically switch between cameras after a couple seconds. Additional positive feedback/2+ year review, we had our monitor acting funny/sometimes wouldnt hold a full charge, maybe it was the way we connected it. I emailed them and they swapped our monitor out after showing proof we sent it back - we did have to pay to ship it back. We love this product and would highly recommend it. We have had friends purchase it and also love it. You can also mount the camera to the wall for when the kiddos grow and can reach the camera.

Pros: Easy to hook up second camera. Night vision looks good. Picture quality is good. Comes with needed cable. I like that we can have both cameras hooked to the same monitor and that it does not use WiFi Cons: only comes with lens hood, not the extra zoom lens the original came with. I wish the scan feature was more intuitive and could tell when a camera was on/off rather than needing to change the setting from scan when both kids were sleeping to view camera 1/2 when only one of the kids were sleeping and have the camera on.

Dont trust the 5 star reviews. I bought this because there were so many 5 star reviews, but I found out later it was because the company offered a lot of people a free 2nd camara in exchange for 5 stars. Its still a decent set up, but not 5 stars, and not worth the price. The night Camara isnt too bad, but Ive seen better ones from friends and wish Id shopped around a little more. The reception isnt great, and it gets spotty even just being a few rooms away from the nursery. It routinely tells me its out of range, even if I havent moved the monitor. Weve checked wifi and other possible reasons for interference. The sound is also spotty, and most of the time its not bad, but it cuts in and out quite often. I like the feature of being able to add other cameras, and if you have it set to scan it will go back and forth between the two cameras, but it doesnt stay on one camera if baby is crying, which is kinda annoying. I love being able to control the camara and having such a wide area to scan. It comes with a zoom lens that you have to exchange with the normal lense, unscrewing and screwing back on, which is hassle, but at least it has the option. Overall, its not bad. I just wish Id I vested in something else.

I have had this camera for over a year and have tried multiple brands and this one is by far the best. I wish I could write this review on the actual system but my sister bought it for me so I can only leave my review on the additional camera. Anywhos, after a year or so I noticed that one of my cameras wasn’t working in the dark anymore and I reached out to customer service after realizing I was out of the warranty window I just thanked the customer service agent for their time and planned on purchasing a new camera in the future (the sound still worked great and day time picture worked too just not night time). A few weeks later I received a message from that agent regarding my issues and even though I was slightly over my warranty he worked with me and sent me a new camera! I was beyond grateful that he continued to message me after I had done gone about my business and saved me $100. I am about to purchase another additional camera as we are expecting another baby but you honestly can’t beat their product or service. The ability to add up to 4 cameras and change out lens to meet your needs is super handy!

This is a very good monitor. I have twins and the best part about it is that is automatically scans between cameras (I bought a second camera). It was super easy to set up and also very easy to use. After using it for about 6 months, the power cord wasnt connecting well with the monitor. It wouldnt charge unless I held it close and wrapped it around the monitor multiple times. I called Infant Optics to explain the situation. They immediately replaced the monitor without any hassle. Their policy is to send your old one in first and then get the new one sent. I asked if they could send me the new one first since I really needed a monitor with my twins! They were super accommodating and the new monitor works perfectly. The only reason it isnt 5 stars is that one of our cameras makes a slight buzzing sound. The other one doesnt though, so it isnt a flaw with all the cameras. It still works perfectly fine, it just is a slightly annoying sound!

We ordered an additional camera for the arrival of our second child. I love Infant Optics and not only is it a great product, but their customer service is amazing. We had originally received the Infant Optics monitor and camera when expecting our first child almost three years ago. Recently the night vision on that camera started to have issues and even though we were way past the one year warranty, they went above and beyond to resolve the issue for me.

I bought this add on camera to go with my monitor that I was already using for my daughter, and this camera did not have the same picture quality as the one that came with the monitor. We tried to move it to different places all over the room, and nothing was helping the picture quality. It was very blurry and very pixilated. I contacted customer service, and I had to provide them with my proof of our purchase and a picture of the serial number of the camera, and send it back, and they are currently sending me a new camera. They even upgraded the shipping to two day shipping for me instead of having me wait the normal 5-7 business days. It was very easy to contact customer service and the representative that helped me couldn’t have been nicer. I hope this new camera will work better than the one I am sending back!
