Ive installed numerous TP-Link Kasa smart plugs and switches to integrate my home lighting with my Alexa Echos and Show 8 as well as my Ring doorbells and cameras. Im amazed at how well all these different systems work together. I needed an outdoor smart plug to control both some outside Christmas lights as well as a bird bath heater. This Kasa Smart K400 Outdoor Smart Plug works perfectly. Since the two outlets on the plug can be controlled independently, I plugged my heated bird bath into one and my Christmas lights into the other. I especially like the Kasa Android app, which allows you to easily set what time you want the lights to come on and go off. You can also set it to come on at Sunset (or a prescribed number of minutes before or after sunset) (similarly with Sunrise). You can set different times for each day of the week if you want. A very nice and easy to use app. Installation of the Smart Plug was also very straightforward with step-by-step guidance from the app. For my heated bird bath, I set up a routine using the If This Then That (IFTTT) app. I set the heater to turn on if the outside temperature drops below 35 deg F and turn off if the outside temp goes above 35 deg F. One thing to be aware of - the Kasa outlet must not be limited to Local control if you want outside apps such as IFTTT to work with it. For some reason, my outdoor smart plug reverted to local control and there is no obvious way to get out of this state using the app. After researching this on the web, the one solution that seemed to work was to assign the smart plug a reserved DHCP IP address on your home router. I did this and then reset the switch. All works fine now. Bottom line is this is a waterproof outdoor smart outlet that works well, has an easy to use and very flexible controlling app, and integrates nicely into the smart house ecosystem (at least with Alexa, Google Home, and IFTTT which are the ones Ive tried). I would gladly buy this again if I need another one.

This thing has seen two years of outdoor use without being unplugged. Its been completely under piles of snow and was still connected to our WiFi. Incredible!

I have several TP-link Kasa Smart Plugs and a Kasa light switch, so I wanted to match my outside plug for the Christmas lights I had up on my fence. I couldnt find anything and then came across this. I didnt know or even think if my Christmas lights were dimmable, but knew it would still work if they werent. Lo and behold my lights were dimmable; so, I set it at 75% and put the lights on a schedule and it all worked perfectly, and was visible/availble for control in my Kasa Phone app where I set up the % brightness and schedule.

I bought this device to control a string of outdoor lights on my balcony. While it was a little tricky to set up the app, it did not take that long. The app works very well, and my lights are on a schedule that I created in a few seconds. I can also press a button that turns them instantly on or off. Very satisfied. Highly recommend and would buy again.

Kasa is the best. This plug works perfect with Edison outdoor lights from Costco.

I just bought a house with a pool this winter. When I was opening the pool up for the first time, the pool guy recommended I get an electrician to come out and set up some thing to coordinate a schedule, or I will have to either remember to come out twice a day to turn my pool pump on/off or have it running 24/7. Hiring an electrician to set up some new system = $$$ Buying this thingamajig = like $15 SUPER EASY to set up. I set up a schedule on my phone and forgot about it. It does everything it needs to do. The outlet its plugged into is outdoors, and its been going strong with no issues for months. With this heatwave, I want to be perfectly sure my pool is clean and ready for swimming, so I can set up temporary schedules or manually turn it on or off from my phone within seconds, from anywhere. And since I typically dont have my phone with me by the pool, the button allows you to manually control it as well. I dont use Alexa often because the voice-command system kind of creeps me out still (I only ever use it if Im cooking, my hands are dirty, and I need to know like a measurement conversion or something), BUT I tried it out once just to see if it would work and it did. All I can say about that. Im thinking of buying more for outdoor lights.

I use this for some outside string lights and it works great. Connects well with Google assistant and the phone app is designed intuitively. I love the timer settings. This was a good purchase.

Bought a lamp which needed specialty bulbs recently so I couldnt use smart bulbs in it. It was also super bright even with only 15w bulbs. This dimmer was the perfect thing - I love that you can set max brightness levels and choose which percentages corrospond to which brightnesses (it lets you mark what 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% should look like) so that when you give smart home commands, its easy to choose exactly how they look on your exact fixture. This was super helpful because with the lamp being too bright, I was able to make some percentages less bright, and then made 25% brighter because it was too dim after adjusting. This dimmer is really perfect for specialty fixtures! Also cant wait to get another when I have outdoor cafe lights.

I am using this to control a gutter heat cable. I’ve only had to use it once so far and it worked just fine using my phone to control it remotely. Much better than having to go outside and manually plug something in or turn something on. The plug cover broke off but that doesn’t affect functionality. Deducted one star for that though.
