Klein Tools VDV500-820 Cable Tracer with Probe Tone Pro Kit for Telephone, Internet, Video, Data and Communications Cables

Well I got the Toner and Probe kit and it says right in the headline that its for RJ11 and RJ45 wires. It only has an RJ-11 connector. You can read in the comments that people are making modifications to get it to work with ethernet. I returned it and got a Fluke. Partly my fault for not reading all the reviews, but dang it sure misleads you to believe that this is for RJ45. It might work for that, likely depends on your situation. I wanted something that will definitely work though.

Oh wow! Paid for itself in first use! What may have taken countless hours of chasing an open in an AC circuit took 2 minutes. How did I live this long without this!

Great tool

Works good but toner probe has a problem detecting signal after about 100 feet . It’s the wand itself. I used my fluke wand on the Klein signal generator and works much better.

I have used this tracing wires, finding breaker’s in unmarked panels even found found a broken wire under a house that had been pinched by a wire staple and burnt in two. Great tool for the money!

Came without any operational instructions, no manual. Note that on the Amazon link under “Important information. Safety Information: “. It reads “ Carefully read all instructions.Read all safety information before using the products.Do NOT use on energized circuits.Do not use instruments if they are wet, as it could pose a shock hazard.Do not use instruments if they are damaged in any way.Turn off instruments and disconnect all test leads before attempting to replace batteries.Do not open the case, other than the battery compartment.The battery door must be in place and secure before you operate.”. As mine came with out any instructions, no documentation at all! So I will be returning it.

Easy to use

This toner works exactly as advertised. Lost power to several places in a house we recently rented. The landlord had three different people come to try and fix it. No luck. I hooked the toner up to the dead socket at the end of the line. Checked all the dead outlets,switches, and lights. Got a good signal at all. Started checking powered outlets in the general area. Found one with a signal. Turned off power disconnected wires and toned out to make sure. Reconnected wires to screws on outlet instead of back slide in connections. Turned on power problem solved.

This is an AWESOME tool... I wish I had bought this years ago. Saves a lot of time... the YouTube videos are accurate and the product is very easy to use.
