I could not rate the Alexa use as I am an App biggot, but like the the rest of the Caséta system it works perfectly with Siri so it should work with Alexa as well. Installation was simple. Plug it into an standard US duplex outlet. Plug the load into the other connection on the device. That is all. You can then press the waterproof button to turn the device on and off. To activate the remote function, open the app on your phone. Click the dropdown to reach add the device option. Select the device and follow the instructions on the phone. When you have completed all steps as instructed. You can turn on and off your device with the app on your cell phone. In addition, when you next open your Home App on your iPhone the new device will show up and can be added to all your regular scenes or automations. For those not familiar with the Caséta system, you will need to get a starter kit so you have a bridge. Without the bridge none of the Caséta products can be configured. They will work as local device controllers only. For Apple Siri integration, you also need an iPad or Apple TV you can leave connected to the same wireless system as the bridge and the bridge must be connected to the internet for proper setup.

East to install. Synced up immediately with my Lutron/Cassetta base and works effortlessly with Siri, Alexa and Google once setup with those systems is complete. Love it.

Expensive but just works reliably. That’s what counts

In addition to the Lutron WiFi base device, you may need to buy a Lutron Caseta plug-in dimmer to act as a range-extender for your WiFi system. You can set up one (only one!) plug-in dimmer to act as a range-extender so placement is key for reliable coverage. I have all sorts of Lutron Caseta smart switches and they work flawlessly in comparison to other brands...and trust me...I have bought a lot of smart switches from varying different manufacturers. This outdoor remote switch is in a far corner of my backyard and it has never failed to work or lose WiFi connection. And, its rugged. Really better than other products I have used. Though, I still put a weatherized cover over the smart switch but I wouldnt hesitate to install it in the open air with weather/sprinklers in the area. Providing you install it via the recommendations in the instruction manual.

The Lutron Outdoor Plug was a quick and easy install. I have several Cassetta dimmers and smart plugs, and addicting this outdoor plug to my systems was very simple. Just plug it in and the WiFi bridge immediately located it and I just added it as another one of my smart devices. I wish the wire (that actually plugs into the electric outlet) was longer and not just “pig-tail” length, but that is the only real shortcoming I have found … and it might not be a shortcoming for most others. Overall am very satisfied.

Purchased flood lights that were not compatible with soft on wireless switches. These did the trick. Theyre wireless with a good transmission distance even through a couple sheet rock walls and doors. Theyre not cheap, but seem well made with hopefully years of potential use. Note - these are made to be on-off switches, not adjustable dimmer type. You can also add wireless switches to the unit for controlling multiple locations.

I bought 2 for my outdoor string lights, best decision ever. I chose to control it thru the Lutron app rather than Alexa. I now have 9 Lutron Caseta plugs and Im extremely happy with their performance. These outdoor plugs have replaced my old timers, theyre resistant to our extreme heats and rainfall. Highly recommend it.

Lutron makes the most reliable and highest quality devices. Yes this outdoor plug is expensive but it is built to last and will be the last one you ever have to buy. My last smart plug was a cheap alternative and failed after a month in southern heat. The Lutron handles the heat perfectly and is built like a tank

Simple integration. Works well. Wish it had a right angle plug and was shorter. Also costs too much.
