I own 3, one in the garage, one in the house and one in my suv. As someone who owned a dyson handheld and other cheaper models over the years, lack of suction and just really poor battery time (5-8min) made them go in the garbage quickly. This baby I have had for 3+ years and man they still go strong, I have tons of makita batteries so if it dies I pop in another. Easily has 30min run time on high. Buy the cyclone attachment if your using it in the house as it works well. We have a robot vac in the house and use this for spot cleaning and the stairs. In the garage it’s excellent and great for keeping the car clean.

The entrance to our house was constantly dirty. Thanks to the Makita 18V cordless vacuum, our entrance is now clean. Kept in the coat closet, its always ready to go and right there. No cords, just grab it, pull the trigger, and a couple swipes later...clean floors. This vacuum is a game changer. LOVE IT! The availability of replacement filters is also why I bought this.

For me, this is an outstanding helpful tool that I am thankful for every day! I have wood floors in my house. I have pets. I have two dyson vacuums which I love. But this makes me dance a jig for a few reasons...its cordless, its lightweight, its small, and it is simple. So, we keep this in the laundry room which is next to the kitchen. We also have a battery charger there, and a battery operated Makita blower. I use this little vacuum to clean up dog hair and cat litter and pieces of grass and debris we bring in from our shoes or dog paws. The canister doesnt hold a lot, but for me it is perfect! I dump it into a trash I have in the backyard, and at the same time, I use the Makita blower to blow off the fabric filter because I cant shake the fur/dust off of it. The little fabric filters are easy to accidently throw in the trash while emptying the canister, so be careful. The little filters are well made out of a felt type material...they have a strong stitching and I cant imagine needing to change it very often if you blow it off to clean it. My system may not work for everyone. I can honestly say if I didnt have the little Makita blower right next to it, I wouldnt love this vacuum as much because the filter would have to be changed so often. This machine is not meant to be strong carpet cleaner. Im unsure why they invented it at all....but I love it for my wood floors because I love clean floors and this helps me EASILY keep them vacuumed.

This isnt going to compete against a well-made, large vacuum, but for small clean-ups, its marvelous. The filter is easy to clean, and even when the dirt reservoir fills up, it still retains its effectiveness.

Really convenient not to have to deal with a cord and hose to pick up hair, dust and light debris. Suction is adequate but does not compete with my shop vac. Easy to empty and store on included bracket.

This little vac sucks, in just the ways I want it to and better than I hoped would be the case. The best thing about it is is portability, for which I bought it in the first place. After reading some reviews I was worried about its sucking power (as I recall, CFM not even listed on the product page) and considered buying the backpack version with two 5 amp batteries to replace that, but read about even that lacking sufficient sucking power, and even corded ones not pleasing customers in terms of ability to suck, so I finally went back to the original reason I bought this, which was portability and simply hoped the suction would be sufficient. Well it is, and I cant stop myself from turning to find where the cord might be as its hard to get used to being this liberated from electrical cords. In terms of how long it lasted, I first tried it on a partial charge (I first got the 5 amp battery for the Makita blower) and it lasted 15-20 minutes so I thought this full charge trial would tire after 30 minutes but not so! Im not sure how long it lasted, probably 30-40 minutes, but I got through my whole one story house about 3-4 times before I finally gave up on trying to empty the battery completely (assuming its better to charge a completely empty battery than a partially charged one) and simply quit from fatigue and lack of need to spiff up the house any more, and set the battery to charging again, hoping it was low enough not to harm the battery by charging it only partially discharged. So I am most definitely satisfied. Although I have 3-4 corded, high suction vacuums, one of them a powerful Sears canister type, this is going to be my vacuum of choice due to the convenience factor of carrying it around without having to constantly steer and reposition the cord. In my opinion this mini-vac is well designed to go with the 5 amp battery I possessed before buying it.

Dang, I really got the impression that Makita didnt really make this thing. Ive got a ton of cordless products (mostly the 18v stuff) and a bunch of corded stuff from Makita. Why? Cause they work great! and I have never been able to break a Makita product (some of this stuff is going on 20 years old and its been used everyday in brutal work environments!). Ordinarily Makita products really impress and totally exceed expectations --this thing, on the other hand, is just a glorified dust buster IMHO. I expect to pay a higher price for Makita cause it lasts forever and performs flawlessly --Im kinda pissed I paid more for this thing though... YMMV UPDATE: OK, I might have been wrong about this thing but you need the Cyclonic Vacuum Attachment to make it work decent --for me anyway. The attachment will hold much more crud than the base unit and make it much more practical (the stock volume is ridiculously small). Second, its so portable and light that I find Im using it all the time for stairs and any little mess that comes along. In sum, Ive upped this from 2 to 4 stars for ease of use, battery life (just the 3Ah type), and decent volume with the attachment. Still cant give it 5 stars cause its still a little light on sucking power and I really think Makita should either re-design it to hold more volume or include the Cyclonic Attachment with the unit.
