> 3 dayHeadline says it all. Easy to setup and use with Mojave 10.10.5. Saves to .mov format. Decent quality, considering the source technology. Dont buy the Roxio VHS to DVD for video capture if you intend to use with Catalina, at least at this point in time (May 20).

> 3 dayThis was very difficult for me to understand how to use. May just be my level of knowledge on the product use all in itself.

Greater than one weekI bought this package to rip some old home movies from VHS to my Macbook Pro. The experience you have when using this product is rather mixed. PROS: It does what it says it will, easy install, easy process CONS: very few options, VERY unreliable connection If you need to convert VHS to digital or DVD this prodect is decent. Its not great but it will get the job done. The setup is fast and its a fairly straight forward process. When you install the disc it will install both Easy VHS to DVD and Toast Basic. You can use Toast if you want or just import into iMovie. If they wanted to you to use Toast youd think they would have included the premium version. The version they give you functions but its also full of the upgrade reminders which drives me crazy. Importing into iMovie is very easy. Its time consuming (even on a quad core processor with 8gb of RAM) but it does transition smoothly. The size of the file on the best setting is very large. Its surprising because when you are done youd think you created a HD file. Its really that big. If space is an issue avoid the high quality setting. The biggest issue with this product is the connection. At first the video didnt show up so I unplugged and replugged everything. Next the sound didnt come accross so I unplugged and replugged everything. Then the sound came through but the video went out. After a few times everything magically worked. Not a fun experience. Overall its an ok product that will not amaze you but it will get the job done. The connectivity is a bummer and more options would be nice too.

19-12-2024I would give this product no stars if possible. While I was able to convert a VHS to a digital format it was impossible to convert to a DVD because the audio was always out of sync and lagged behind the video. My whole purpose was to be able to create DVDs of our home movies. I wasted at least 20 hours, many blank DVD disks which always had this lag. I contacted tech support who did not seem to understand the problem, Even after explaining it a number of times in several emails. Their solutions was to uninstall and then reinstall which made no difference at all. They just didn’t get that the problem was not so much with the VHS to video portion but with being able to create the DVD with their included software. So, if your goal is to convert VHS to DVDs, I suggest you don’t waste your time or your money.

> 3 dayI have some really old VHS tapes that I wanted to include with photos in a DVD re a trip taken in 1993. I looked for an inexpensive way of transferring the tapes to my MacBook Pro computer. This product includes software and connecting cables. You dont need a television. Just connect your VCR via USB cable to the computer, start the VCR, and you can watch the progress (like you do on TV but smaller) on your computer as the data is being transferred. The data is compatible with iMovie and can be easily converted to just about any form with the free MPEG Streamclip application. For some reason the process of converting the data directly to iMovie did not work and I had to use the aforementioned application to make the necessary conversion. For that reason I gave the product 4 stars rather than 5. All in all, this is a great buy. It does the job without needing to buy an expensive VHS to DVD recorder.

> 3 dayAfter I got everything connected and running, it looked like everything was working well and then as set up was just starting I got an error message saying, “unknown error”. I don’t know if I should return this product or take the time to reconnect everything again. I’m very disappointed because I bought it to copy one very important VHS tape I don’t want to lose.

> 3 dayVery good product. I am loading all the Super 8 recordings taken years ago with my now old analog camcorder. The quality of both, image and sound is excellent. I have just a little problem. Files of converted videos are in MPG format that is no compatible with Macs iMovie. The software Easy VHS to DVD Capture that comes with the product, convert automatically the files to be read for iMovie, but this operation make a duplicate of every video with different format occupying a lot of space in the hard drive.

Greater than one weekDo NOT BUY this product if you are running SNOW Leopard. IT does not work with it. I got this in June before SNOW...but just installed it 2 days ago and I cant get it to work well. It hangs constantly while trying to finish up the video after you click Stop recording. If you try to record more than 8 mins of video it never records more either. EIther way the software is a $67 waste for me. The ONLY good thing is that it does seem to be very easy to use. And in fact i did get it to work ONE time for a 4 min video clip I did. I wish so much itd work more. The good thing is their customer service on email is VERY responsive. The BAD thing is they have NO answers for Snow Leopard and told me flat out it may not work with Snow Leopard. May not work!?!?!?!? Trust me it does NOT work. They said they are working on a fix...hmmm. Roxio has diaspointed me very much. They really should give me my money back. Lesson learned..do NOT every buy a product pre release like I did with this. What a mistake. So let me be the goat this time...do NOT buy until and IF they ever fix their software. The latest patch makes no difference. Hate massively!!!

> 3 dayI chose this software/hardware combination because it was a little less expensive than the Elgato Video Capture Device (10020840) and I have less than a dozen hours to convert. First, the software is functional (this review is for the Mac version) but does not have any bells or whistles -- like the Windows version. That being said the price is a little high, but less expensive than having some one reputable convert your tapes. I only have one copy of the tape, so I waned to keep track of it and do the conversion myself. My only frustration was understanding how to get the video to be captured -- there are insufficient published instructions. I followed the instructions (what there are): (1) install the software (2) connect the VCR cables to the USB and plug it in th a chassis USB port. Audio but no video. I spent three hours on Google and Roxio before I found a Roxio discussion item with a clue: Wait until youve launched the application before inserting the USB device You would think this would have been more prominent in the instructions. Once that was clear the capture worked fine. The software has some odd behavior -- when I stop a recording, or Fast Forward a tape recording the video window sometimes freezes on the last image, and sometimes echoes what you would see on the connected TV screen.

> 3 dayI am very happy with this purchase. It connected and installed easily and I was able to start capturing those precious home videos from VHS tapes with ease. I am sharing the digitized videos with family via cloud storage, so this is really helping us stay hunkered down during the Cocid-19 crisis.
