> 3 dayThe Good -- Ive used Roxio products for many years off and on -- always found them useful and user friendly. Always accomplished what I bought it for. The software on this product for MAC is great. Once installed it was simple to set up and begin converting VHS tapes. the BAD -- the device that connects to my laptop is terrible. First it took a lot of time and effort troubleshooting why there was no picture. I had to google it -- and found out you have to plug it straight to the laptop usb. New Mac laptops (at least mine) does not have the standard USB port anymore. Got out my older laptop, confirmed all was in working order and tried again. You have to wiggle and maneuver and wiggle and pull and wiggle, etc. ALOT before the picture will display. The tape is running, all the audio is playing but the video is not. Once you get the cable and USB JUST RIGHT -- DONT TOUCH IT!!! It will take forever to try and wiggle it back in position. Its like the USB on the Roxio device just does not fit and connect well in the usb port on my laptop. now -- its not displaying a picture anymore. It was an hour ago, now nothing. the video still plays, sound still going -- and I didnt touch the device or move the laptop at all. So very disappointed in the quality.

Greater than one weekI am no computer whiz and I found this product to be extremely easy to use. I spent about 5 minutes hooking up the connections and installing the software. When I opened the application, it played my video and it was very intuitive to record, pause, and save. I am running 10.6. The one glitch I have caught (which is the only reason this is not 5 stars) is with fast forward. I generally cannot watch it fast forward and one time it cause the software to freeze. I just closed it and relaunched and it worked just fine. Please dont let the negative reviews stop you from buying this product.

> 3 dayAwesome product! I bought an off brand of this on Amazon and the picture on the computer came out black and white. I gave this one a try and it works perfectly! Easy to set up and record from the VCR to my Mac!

> 3 dayVery good product. I am loading all the Super 8 recordings taken years ago with my now old analog camcorder. The quality of both, image and sound is excellent. I have just a little problem. Files of converted videos are in MPG format that is no compatible with Macs iMovie. The software Easy VHS to DVD Capture that comes with the product, convert automatically the files to be read for iMovie, but this operation make a duplicate of every video with different format occupying a lot of space in the hard drive.

> 3 dayConcept is great. I havent had the dropped video frame issue, but I do have the NO sound issue - over and over. I found that if you allow any other sound to be issued on the computer, it seems to shut off audio from the VHS player during capture. I have to restart my Mac to get audio again. Lots of wasted time. I read on another blog that if you unplug the cable going into the Mac USD before you start the Roxio software, this will fix it. I havent tried yet. FIX THE SOFTWARE!!!

> 3 dayI used this to convert all of my familys old home videos to DVD as a christmas present to my parents and it was excellent. The copying quality was good and it was easy to do. My only complaint was that I had to watch the video in real time for the conversion and unfortunately sometimes there was a conversion error so I had to babysit the entirety of my familys recorded history. Sometimes I had to watch them more than once if there was an error. Im sure that a more experienced video editor could have cut together the fragments with ease but not me.

> 3 dayI tried cheaper solutions but nothing worked as easily as this kit. After using a different random free software with this other adapter and some other brands converter and failing to get it all working properly, I bought the Roxio bundle and couldnt be more satisfied. So easy to use and worked right from the start. Converting all our old VHS-C tapes to digital for my wife for Mothers Day this year. There will be tears. Tech support was five stars because although I didnt use the support, the documentation that came with the kit was more than sufficient.

> 3 dayBought it for my iMac to get video off my old VCR with only composite (red, white, yellow) outputs. The capture device worked OK once, but my 16:9 VHS video came through as 4:3 aspect ratios. Everyone look very thin. The software was very limited with no adjustments despite trying to get help from Roxio Tech Support. Next time I used it, the capture device was not recognized by the software so both were useless. I contacted Tech Support for a replacement or refund. VERY SLOWLY they would email ideas over the last two weeks that I had already tried. So far they have not replaced the unit or refunded anything - just more redundant questions. It seems they are just stalling to wear me out. HOWEVER, THERE IS A GREAT SOLUTION. I got a cheap Composite-to-HDMI converter and a cheap HDMI-to-USB capture device (together both cost about 2/3 the Roxio cost), and I used the free Mac QuickTime Player software (you can record using it). That worked perfectly! Do not buy the Roxio device and software for a Mac.

> 3 dayRoxio does it again. I tried many, MANY approaches to convert VHS analog video to digital and burn to a dvd. Went through a good deal of crap [sorry, but yes] and frustration and Im a decent hacker. Part of the problem here is Apple. They simply walked away from support of any PPC [the older Motorola] chip in favor of Intel. If you can get access to an Intel machine running OS X 10.6 or better, this will work. Install the application on the enclosed DVD onto said machine, connect 2 plugs, cue up the tape and GO. 40 minutes later, you will have a 40-minute digital video file on the HD. Burn it, copy it, edit it, whatever. I ended up putting it on a 4GB flash drive. Please note: THIS WILL NOT WORK ON A POWERBOOK G4 OR IMAC G5, REGARDLESS OF THEIR OS X. IT JUST WONT.
