Very good product. I am loading all the Super 8 recordings taken years ago with my now old analog camcorder. The quality of both, image and sound is excellent. I have just a little problem. Files of converted videos are in MPG format that is no compatible with Macs iMovie. The software Easy VHS to DVD Capture that comes with the product, convert automatically the files to be read for iMovie, but this operation make a duplicate of every video with different format occupying a lot of space in the hard drive.

I was not sure what to expect from the reviews I read. I have the system requirement and version 1.0.3. My experience with this product was positive. It was easy to install. Each set-up step work first try. It imported easily into iMovie and I was able to use Toast to burn a DVD. I am sure there might be better (more expensive) programs for transferring VHS to the computer, however for the price it does the job it says it will. I transferred two hours of video, imported into iMovie, edited it down to 5 minutes with color and sound corrections, converted it to Quicktime, and uploaded the video to YouTube all on the first try.

I’m having a difficult time making the software work. I need to be able to load the VHS video to my MacBook Pro, which I was able to do. However I have two problems, when I run the video on my computer the movie plays with a Play Directive in the upper left part of the screen that says play with some kind of icon. Also I’m unable to transfer the video to a DVD. I assumed when the software says Roxio easy VHS to DVD it means I can transfer the video from my computer to a dvd.

I purchased the VHS to DVD early in August 2012. I had originally purchased another brand of product to transfer my family VHS to DVD, but found that I needed another product in order to burn the DVDs. Anyway, Roxio offered this product which INCLUDED the Roxio Toast Basicso I could burn the DVDs. I was happy to have an all-in-one item. I ordered it and it came, but I didnt look at the box. Once loaded I found out the version Amazon sent to me didnt include the Basic Toast. So I sent it back and reordered, indicating that in the description and on the box it shows that Roxio Toast Basic is included. Amazon shipped me another one, but that one also did NOT included Roxio Toast Basic, so I shipped it back again. I believe what happened is that when I went shopping for the Easy VHS to DVD I found one that was priced at $49.99. When I was having trouble getting Amazon to ship the one with Toast and Id go to Amazon and search, all I found was the Easy VHS to DVD with the Toast listed at 69.99. In short... I think Amazon boo-booed at the beginning, when they priced the VHS to DVD with Toast at $49.99, then sent me the version WITHOUT toast because I originally paid $49.99. To make a long story short... I returned the second version, I have not reordered another one with Toast because I was waiting for Amazon to credit my account. Because of this snafu, I truly dont know HOW the software works, but I am assuming it will be fine. Amazon is being GREAT about this and is going to send the original version that I ordered WITH Toast at teh $49.99 price. Thank you Amazon. I do like doing business with a company that understands and is so easy to deal with.

I returned it immediately after it arrived; for Mac, not Windows!

I had OLD VHS home movies I needed preserved it paid for itself. Although it is pricey there isnt much out there that is easy to use. I bought it for my parents to do there own conversion not very tech savvy so this saved me some time in having to do it myself and they had no problem using it.

Does everything its advertised to do. Lets me easily convert my old HI-8 tapes to digital format. After conversion (only extra-step) I can edit in iMovie and chunk the 2 hour plus tapes into meaningful episodes. Have 40 hrs converted with another 60hrs (est) to go. Well worth the price. All you need is time to convert and edit.

This item is great! Easy to use and makes good quality DVDs. This could just be user error, but one thing that would help me is if the size the transferred file will be was shown BEFORE you begin the transfer. Sometimes the file is too big to burn to DVD and I could have adjusted the quality or planned to separate items if I knew ahead of time. Often I find that I have to do another transfer to make a copy of a VHS that will fit onto a DVD and since the transfer happens in real time it can take a lot of extra time.

ABSOLUTELY do NOT buy this product. I first verified that my OS and hardware met the specified requirements. Bought product, installed software, made hardware connection, and tried copy to Mac. Did not work, screen did not resemble documents. Contacted support according website 5 times in next 5 days. The online support telephone number an chat is operated by sales an they just take message an pass to tech support. Tech is supposed to contact you by phone or email within 24 hrs. (There is no chat or phone for tech support). After 5 tries in five days with no response I gave up. Tried final option, email directly to Support. This requires registering software which requires creating an account. Created account but since default Web site takes you to Corel, must jump to Roxio site. Now here again, in order to register you create Roxio account. Tried to create this account but error message says account already exists for Corel. Another catch 22 circular SNAFU that keeps you out. Returned product will never recommend another Corel product.

I would give this product no stars if possible. While I was able to convert a VHS to a digital format it was impossible to convert to a DVD because the audio was always out of sync and lagged behind the video. My whole purpose was to be able to create DVDs of our home movies. I wasted at least 20 hours, many blank DVD disks which always had this lag. I contacted tech support who did not seem to understand the problem, Even after explaining it a number of times in several emails. Their solutions was to uninstall and then reinstall which made no difference at all. They just didn’t get that the problem was not so much with the VHS to video portion but with being able to create the DVD with their included software. So, if your goal is to convert VHS to DVDs, I suggest you don’t waste your time or your money.
