> 3 dayThis product (Mac version) is waaay out of date. It is a 32-bit app so will NOT run under the new Mac OS -Catalina and Roxio is now run/supported by Corel so the support is slow to respond and pretty bad. That said, its hard to fault the company for a product that is at the end of its life -its unclear how many folks need to digitize old VHS in the bad resolution and bad color that VHS tapes are at. Its also very slow and hangs periodically. Probably the things that irks me is that they still are charging $50 - $95 for this. Good news is that it works as advertised, bad news is that its very expensive for outdated technology.

Greater than one weekFirst, the program would only import ten minutes of video (and it was not at all quality resolution even on the high setting). Anything over ten minutes and it would give an error, wasting hours of time. I know because I tried this three times (six hours) before giving up. Great. After I navigated the confusing labyrinth of Roxios register your product for customer service pages, I eventually could send them a help request. After this, Corel (Corel are apparently Roxios new owner) gave me a link to a downloadable software patch. So I installed the patch and the program will now import full length VHS tapes...but, of course, the resulting files are not able to be imported into iMovie. At all. USELESS. I eventually used iSquint (this is totally separate software and was my own idea...Corel/Roxio were NOT helpful and did not respond to my follow-up issue at all) to convert the unreadable Roxiod files into something I could manage to import into iMovie. So...yeah. After all that, now I can import crappy-looking medium-resolution videos files into iMovie. HOORAY! This product is garbage. I expected a lot better. Also: If you (Roxio/Corel) know its not going to import files longer than ten minutes without a software patch, why not just print out a little piece of paper with that patch link information and stick it in the box before you send it to the warehouse? Cmon, how hard is that? Youre a bunch of dimwits over there at Roxio/Corel, apparently. What I wanted: highest resolution possible files from VHS tapes with a minimum of fuss. What I got: mediocre resolution files with a maximum of fuss that are remarkably time-consuming to make. Do not buy this product. Try a different method.

> 3 dayConcept is great. I havent had the dropped video frame issue, but I do have the NO sound issue - over and over. I found that if you allow any other sound to be issued on the computer, it seems to shut off audio from the VHS player during capture. I have to restart my Mac to get audio again. Lots of wasted time. I read on another blog that if you unplug the cable going into the Mac USD before you start the Roxio software, this will fix it. I havent tried yet. FIX THE SOFTWARE!!!

18-12-2024Awesome product! I bought an off brand of this on Amazon and the picture on the computer came out black and white. I gave this one a try and it works perfectly! Easy to set up and record from the VCR to my Mac!

Greater than one weekI purchased this product to convert my home videos from VHS to DVD to preserve family memories. The Mac version works really great. Setup was simple. Install the software and plug a VCR into the adapter. Start the software, continue through the sound and video connection screens, hit play on your VCR, and click on record when youre ready to start the conversion. Most of my home video was recorded in EPP so I could fit up to 6 hours on a tape. The longest I have converted so far is 2 1/2 hours into a single file which used just over 75 Gb. I then use iMovie to edit and iDvd to produce the DVD. Time consuming but simple.

> 3 daypurchased it to move vhs to dvd - I use the Apple Mac and the way they made this appear as though its a simple plug and play device, I contacted customer service only to be put on hold for 20 min to then be informed they needed to bump this up to a tech support at which time all I get is an auto generated email stating thanks we appreciate you letting us know DONT BUY

> 3 dayI bought this package to rip some old home movies from VHS to my Macbook Pro. The experience you have when using this product is rather mixed. PROS: It does what it says it will, easy install, easy process CONS: very few options, VERY unreliable connection If you need to convert VHS to digital or DVD this prodect is decent. Its not great but it will get the job done. The setup is fast and its a fairly straight forward process. When you install the disc it will install both Easy VHS to DVD and Toast Basic. You can use Toast if you want or just import into iMovie. If they wanted to you to use Toast youd think they would have included the premium version. The version they give you functions but its also full of the upgrade reminders which drives me crazy. Importing into iMovie is very easy. Its time consuming (even on a quad core processor with 8gb of RAM) but it does transition smoothly. The size of the file on the best setting is very large. Its surprising because when you are done youd think you created a HD file. Its really that big. If space is an issue avoid the high quality setting. The biggest issue with this product is the connection. At first the video didnt show up so I unplugged and replugged everything. Next the sound didnt come accross so I unplugged and replugged everything. Then the sound came through but the video went out. After a few times everything magically worked. Not a fun experience. Overall its an ok product that will not amaze you but it will get the job done. The connectivity is a bummer and more options would be nice too.

> 3 dayI am in the process of digitizing old VHS to computer. It comes with software on DVD, however our computer doesnt have a DVD drive. Tech support was easy to contact and provided me with a link to access software via email. I am having a lot of fun editing downloaded VHS into short iMovies!

19-12-2024Contrary to other reviews, this product does work with Mac OSX 10.6. The version I installed from the CD worked, without any updating necessary. The software is easy to use, and the files created will open in iMovie 11 no problem as long as you import them into your library. If you dont import them, the clips are .MOV files and will live in a folder the program creates. You can view them in Quicktime or burn them without further editing using iDVD. I recommend this software bundle. Its a great value for the money and has virtually no learning curve. Anyone can use it.

> 3 dayVery good product. I am loading all the Super 8 recordings taken years ago with my now old analog camcorder. The quality of both, image and sound is excellent. I have just a little problem. Files of converted videos are in MPG format that is no compatible with Macs iMovie. The software Easy VHS to DVD Capture that comes with the product, convert automatically the files to be read for iMovie, but this operation make a duplicate of every video with different format occupying a lot of space in the hard drive.
