> 3 dayI got this SSD to fill sort of a niche. I am an unabashed Far Cry 4 fan and can not stand the 2-5 second pauses that occur in game when loading areas with a HDD. It often presents a critical point of failure in my gaming and happens at the worst of times (during a firefight for example). I know that the SSD is only really useful for open world games but then again it is only $100 for a 250GB SSD--thats room for all the best next-gen open world titles--great value, right...? Not quite. If Samsung expects SSD technology to take off then prices of their SSDs should be lower. It is extremely curious that their 250GB SSD is $100 while their 500GB SSD is $300 and their 120GB SSD is still around $100--no? My main gripe about the SSD is the installation process. If you are upgrading from an HDD to an SSD and have a lot of data on the HDD then youre gonna have a bad time. Samsung has clearly left late adopters of the SSD in the cold by not offering better HDD-SSD migration software. If I want to keep ~550GB of data on my HDD and still migrate the OS to an SSD then I have to buy a $50 external HDD. Samsungs migration software would migrate 250GB of data (OS included) and delete everything else. I wish I would have read the fine print, if you get the gist. I still have yet to migrate my OS and HDD data (like Far Cry 4) to the SSD because I now have to save enough money to buy an external hard drive. Solid State Drives do offer great performance benefits but until the technologys prices are reduced consider them an absolute luxury.

Greater than one week16 gb + SSD = brand new computer. Installed it in my 4 year old laptop with an SSD. Now it runs like new. I was afraid when it came out of the box because it was so light. But oh my, this was money well spent to fix my old computer. Wayyyy better than buying a new computer.

> 3 dayThis was the gold standard of SSDs. Newer technology is available now that provides a longer lifetime. But were talking generations of computer lifetimes here. Today, I prefer the Western Digital Blue. WD Blue drives have been a staple in personal computers for years. Now SSD has all but replaced traditional hard disk drives. Most companies have embraced the newer technology, as has Samsung. The 860 replaces this model. However, the Samsung 850 EVO has been so good, that their version of even the older technology is hard to beat!

Greater than one weekI put this in my iMac, it does not just go right in there is a process, however dont let the you tube videos make you think that its harder than it really is... either these guys with the videos are mechanical morons or alarmists.. it really took me like 15 minutes. Ok now for the important news.. my iMac boots from OFF to Online with all chrome tabs open and connected in 29 seconds if there are no tabs open just to open from complete shut down to online is 19 seconds... its blazing! Oh I dont know if this is a thing or not but the bezel does get seriously hot ( the aluminum around the iMac) when youre doing something intensive. I put this same drive in a notebook, and didnt notice a difference except that now that notebook runs hot... I believe that is because the processor is working its microscopic ass off to keep up with the drive and just not keeping up.
